My Back Story With Weed:
For eight years, from 2010-2017, I smoked almost every day. Although many people smoke every day, I did it in a way that avoided emotions and responsibilities that I (1) didn't want to deal with and (2) didn't know how to deal with.
As such, my life down spiraled in many ways. Simply put, smoking weed was my entire purpose and the only thing that made me feel good.
Without any goals and aspirations, or rather, without pursuing and achieving goals and aspirations, my life became empty. In the hopes of creating a better life, I felt that quitting pot for life was the only solution. It was a do or die type mentality.
From 2011-2017, I was frustrated with my inability to stay committed and quit weed.
Here's the key, I was focused on the wrong thing. Rather than focusing on the actions it takes to achieve my goals, I focused on actions that it took to not smoke weed. Achieving our goals has nothing to do with smoking or not smoking, it has to do with doing the things one must do in order to achieve one's goals.
That also includes the way one smokes weed. But it's only part of the picture.
Thus, I stopped trying to quit, because ultimately I LOVE weed and the benefits it can have for people.
What I also stopped doing was smoking in a way that hurt me and took me away from my goals.
Now a days, I focus primarily on the creation of my goals and dreams. I align all my actions and lifestyle with this primary goal. This includes aligning the way I use pot to serve my purpose.
I no longer smoke everyday. I no longer smoke every week. Currently, I only smoke when I've achieved certain goals. Cause goals are more important than being high.
What works for me is this: Being high is only allowed when the goals are being achieved. Otherwise, being high is a waste of time, energy, and ultimately not empowering on a daily basis.
I get what I truly want now. I achieve the goals and I still enjoy the beauty of marijuana when it fits in my life!

So true. I still smoke but I cut down quite a bit. I mostly smoke at noon and night time to sleep. Used to be addicted but idk what happened, now I don’t need it. But when I’m not stoned I still feel a bit high.. I always wonder what it feels like to be not high. Do you have no sensations? Idk..

jacob hull I was a daily smoker for 4 years and I think that the high makes you enjoy things more, but when you get used to that high, enjoying things while sober is really hard (if not impossible). Weed is fun if handled well but at some point it becomes a routine and it loses the fun of it which really affects the normal life we should all live.

The problem with weed is that it starts out as "let's get high and listen to music", or "let' get high and do this..." but then it becomes just "let's get high". Kills a lot of your motivation.

@@Beegeezy144 Sounds like you just quit smoking a few weeks/days ago? Normally this type of aggression should go away. What bothered me more when I stopped, I couldn't get a right sleep schedule and I sweat a lot when sleeping. These weird symptoms will stay for a few weeks because the thc in your body is decreasing by 50% every 52~ hours. This process can take a while. But belive me, once you reach the top you can be proud of yourself. Remember, quitting weed is easy, staying clean after quitting is the hardest part.

Do you have the ability to recall information at a reasonable rate again? And do you notice the negative effects even now years later? As I’m sure you know this first week is complete lowest of lows. You know what really helps me on breaks is not thinking about having to quit forever. Everything should be done in moderation. And if you want to smoke after you take that long break fucking go for it. I think with me at least after my long break it helped me realize I don’t need it to have fun for be a good person so it makes it way easier to not do it every day. I smoke probe like 3-4 times a week now but I often go weeks without it and when I start smoking daily again I always take like a two break and it resets me. Weed is an awesome drug imo and I hate when people say that it’s some evil thing that can’t be controlled. You know what happens to other drug users when they stop it’s nothing comparable. I think I was lucky to have many hobbies and friends when I quit using daily the loss of appetite and nausea were really bad the first two days but that goes away. It all goes away eventually one day you’ll get to the point where you view weed like taking a hot bath. It’s nice but not necessary.0

Supreme King Exactly. I feel like it’s really hard for me to get addicted to things. 3 years ago I used to smoke daily. I stopped for no reason for about 2 years and didn’t have any issues at all. I started smoking again (more this time) and built up my tolerance to the highest it ever was. I could take 0.6 hits in 1 breath like nothing. I went away for a month recently and stopped for the time I was away, same thing. No issues at all. I drank soft drinks like crazy from age 12 to 17. One day I decided I would cut them out completely and only drink water. I didn’t feel bad at all. Didn’t ever get the urge to have a soft drink while i was doing it. I also have been vaping for almost 2 years and still have no issues going without nicotine for extended periods of time. Everybody’s different.

I've always found it really interesting how weed is so enticing and hard to quit. Smoked more then a gram daily primarily with the bong for 3-4 years and I used to get stressed at times when I couldn't do it as much but personally found it was just me working myself up more. Quitting is difficult and It ruins my appetite for a while. Sometimes I go a year without stopping and quit cold turkey but am 100% fine in 4-5 days. Just stay occupied is the best advice. I've quit for different various periods from days to weeks since I've started but have been productive throughout and am doing well in 3rd year of post secondary. Really glad that it only takes me a week to feel good and I recognize that there are periods when its good to stop and I think that's important at the least. That being said, I'm blazed now, but good luck to people quitting!

I started smoking weed in 1994 (that's about twenty five yrs ago) and since then i haven't stop until now when i have made up my mind that enough is enough. I must say that weed is a honest lover when you fall in love with it but had an adverse effect in a long run. Most of the testimony i have heard from weed quitters conform with me and almost everybody i know who smoke weed. But I have come to realize that i have wasted so much time romancing with weed for twenty five years and smoking multiple times a day. I have just started creeping on the quitting process for like three days now and intend to go along with it indefinitely. The day i decided to quit, i went for the whole day without smoking weed and came home. I went to the freezer to get some water to drink and found out that my wife has unintentionally kept two bottles of beer in the freezer for me. I looked at them and say to myself omg! Another temptation. In less than a minute i heard a knock on my door and guess who😀? A friend /a smoke mate who has come along with 2joints so we can smoke together. I said to myself common! I sat with him, we drank the beer together and i did smoked that night after i have promised my body system that i won't smoke again. I felt like i have betrayed my soul. I turned to him and say you know what, i am trying to quit weed and so in that case do not offer me weed anymore. I have had enough of it and my body system is indicating that i should stop. I went to my wife and also tell her am done with alcohol because it gives me the urge to smoke. I am now on quit day 3. Its not easy quitting weed but one has to make up his mind and choose between loving it and your life, i mean a better life. There is no benefit in smoking weed, it only makes you feel high and complacent, thinking every thing is fine when its actually not. I realize that It ate my money like a wood bug .It is like vail, a masked substance that fools you. I have enormous love for weed but i have come to realize that i am not where i am suppose to be. I no longer want to use it as a crutch in my life. One key thing i noticed is that it affect your relationship with other people who are non smokers, good people who you can connect with to make life better. I need it no more and am now craving for a pure heart, normal life and seeing things differently without depending on any substance. I am going to get my life back.

I do notice that being high can inhibit proper thinking when it comes to performing a task like even talking sometimes. I do notice that being high makes me talk to myself a lot more mentally. When I smoke, I try to do it before I go play basketball so I could sweat some of it out, and I feel fresh and feel like I could think properly when I get good sleep and eat and hydrate myself well. Then again, I still tell myself I need to stop smoking because I know that I just gotta stop. I plan to quit smoking hopefully this summer when I join summer workouts for this community college I hope to play for!

Compared to everyone else, I’ve smoked everyday for a shorter period of time. I did it consecutively for roughly a month. I came off of it when I realized that I did nothing productive and I did it mainly to ignore my problems and to pass time. Going cold turkey for the first few days we’re awful. I couldn’t eat at all or sleep and everything felt super uncomfortable. I remember wanting to throw up all the time but couldn’t due to the lack of food I ate. During the period in which I smoked a lot, I always had a fog over my head and could never think clearly. I want to grow a better relationship with cannabis and recreational weed.

@gswizzle3714

Hey Gabriel, you are very articulate on this topic. I have been a daily smoker for the past 21 years and I am stopping smoking for a year. The last time I quit I went 28 days and that was about 3 years ago. Before that I quit in high school for 3 months which was about 17 years ago. What I have found is that it is becoming harder to quit the longer I smoke. I have the willpower to not smoke, I just have a hard time handling the dreams. I also suffer from migraines and use herb to treat them. I have been vomiting, sleeping excessively, and getting bad migraines for the past three days. I am on day 25 of no weed and I feel extremely depressed. In addition to quitting herb, I stopped smoking cigarettes in this time. I made a promise that I will go a year no matter what, but I want to smoke sporadically after that year is up. For instance, if I could smoke once every 2 or 3 weeks that would be ideal. My question is how do you make sure you don't fall back into the routine of becoming a daily smoker after you put so much effort into quitting for so long? Thanks man.
@GabrielSantos_28
@GabrielSantos_28 4 жыл бұрын
Great question, bro. In my experience, it has to do with having a sense of purpose and priority that is so powerful and rewarding, that smoking weed is secondary to that. Additionally, have a thc consumption structure to follow works well for me. The reality is that before, you likely smoked whenver you felt like it. Whereas next year, that cannot be the same operating system you use. Smoking when you feel like it will 100% cause you to go backward. Your decision making process has to transform. The structure has to change. Your sense of priorities have to change. And youll need many alternative ways to enjoy life, relax, and celebrate that do not include thc consumption whatsoever.

Thats a good balanced level headed view you have, nicely narrated. I myself smoked occasionally for 10 years and every night for around 20, I held down a job etc but got sick of it in the end the expense, the scam of only being able to buy a 1.6gm bag for £20 since the 90s ended and the poor U.K. quality homegrown skunked weed from people you resented giving money to the awful feeling of gratefulness which got you no higher than the tail end of a vintage comedown from when I started back in the late 80s. I was a connoisseur back when I started when sh*it was real with a Thai stick, a Lebanese and a Charris anytime you wanted.. before the super border patrol and the performance related incentive. Stopping has been hard with a lot of side effects I now know what pulling your hair out means I was literally scratching my head raw at times, terrible sweating and a sleep pattern going round the clock until eventually I was sleeping at 2 in the afternoon, no appetite all in the first month. Did I mention “stink hand” which a few people have mentioned from my trawl around this topic and something I wouldn’t believe was true unless I experienced it myself when your sweat stinks of sh*it as it draws out any old school residue from the depths of the fat layers in your body. Some of that original old school stuff in there from the rave days of the 90s by the smell of it. When that gold seal I smoked before seeing the Spacemen Three in 89 comes through I’ll know it’s over.. I’ve been clean now for two months unfortunately am not the type of guy to be able to casually smoke now and then after what I’ve been through in the last two months. I’ve had to give up friends I’ve had for 30 years as they are just facilitators and ridiculous people really in the cold light of day and as a long termer I need to make a clean break with the past. I would rate this as more difficult than giving up cigarettes which I did 5 years ago with no problem after 30 years, good old 30 years. I think possibly it might be harder if your a little over weight or a “fridge bod” as it settles in your fat layers which as you get older harden making it slower process to draw out and especially during lockdown not being able to go out and about. If I was back working I probably wouldn’t notice to many of these side effects as I’d be on the go. Luckily lockdown has enabled me to do this here in the U.K. unfortunately it’s also made it harder because I’m stuck indoors and hyper alert. So after two months I feel clear headed but as if I’m living in a space suit so not quite 100% yet still slightly removed from reality. The last three weeks have had a high pitched ringing in my ears. I know all these things will go eventually and it’s the evil addicter trying to get me to give up and take a chong on the old pipe but I’m not giving in and to be honest I can’t wait for it to be gone I don’t miss it and music sounds just as good and I can hold conversations in fact I can’t stop talking and I even get on better with my folks too in their frail dotage. I do and I don’t regret it if I could do it all again I would smoke but not hang with regular smokers but I don’t know anyone who does it on a Saturday night only. Anyway my smoking days are over Yay! I’ll leave the last word to my alter ego “what an f ing bore”

I smoked weed and hashish for the past 4 years constantly. I did experince thing that I felt very uncomfortable of. Hanged around with wrong pepole, putted me into economic problems, relations to my family and friends, immoral behaviors etc. I had a plan to what to do in my life before I was start smoking but when I was an addict it really ruined it alot. I lost so much because of this posion and starting to realize that smoking is not my thing meanwhile I was addicted. This is my second month without smoking, first month I felt free and everything, but the second month which THC is gone from my blood I feel much lower and much emptyness. Much shame over the past and everything, but I am excited of this jounary.

Moon Light, Your history with weed is one I relate to. I too found myself hanging out with the wrong crowd, overspending money I didnt have, and doing things in order to get stoned that I'm ashamed of. One of my lows was digging through a dumpster to find a baby nug of weed I'd thrown out earlier that same day. The emptiness and shame you feel currently is normal for the way you once used weed. In a way, a negative addiction to weed is like staying in an abusive relationship. We know it's hurting us yet we can't seem to move on. My point is this: for addicts, the pain of life without weed is more painful than the pain of using weed abusively. Meaning, you didn't intend to hurt yourself with weed, your intent was to feel good. Now in your second month THC free, youre waking up and seeing your weed history with clearer eyes. The good news is youre not stuck anymore. The "bad" news is that you do have to go through these feelings right now, and own up to the decisions youve made. My advice to you is to take ownership of it all. And ultimately, to find closure over your past with weed. Let it go. You didn't do it on purpose. Yet, you must own up that its been done. I believe in ya. Gabe

@@bioxily4489 hey bioxily, i was smoking again quite a bit running into 2022. Quit beginning of february, first two weeks were hard, you know, depression, anxiety, strong cravings especially at night. Needed to take hot baths just to get over them. After first month cravings go away and start to feel normal. however I would say it takes 3 months before you completely feel back to normal. like just this week i was thinking about how i heard being sober was like, and now i actually feel that way now 20th of april, almost 3 months later. now my mental health is back to baseline I would say. Still get cravings on bad days, but not in a "my body is pulling me to smoke and I'm rationalizing why it is good", more like a "i've been so good so far smoking now would be a reward and i could have fun ect, like drinking a beer with friends", so YES cravings go away just hold in and make sure you have good reasons to quit. What pulled me through ewas realizing that weed was making me dumb, dependant, I didn't ewant cravings for something i didn't need. Just know that if you want to quit it is the weed that is the problem, never the solution. As much as your mind plays tricks on u, u dont need it. U will go back to normal it just takes time

I'm an old hippie man 59. Smoked dang near thru my teens(14) to my 40s (quit for 3 yrs) and continued after marriage and kids, held on n off jobs that didn't test so I kept getting high almost the whole day.. couple of wake n bakes, definitely after meals, and every night before bed. It was my pattern and felt absorbed in it, I love weed but it started to get in the way of my Art, family time, personal life, and friends that didnt...didn't.... juggled it all with no pressure until my 14 yr old told me he smoked and was starting to hang with different friends that don't focus on school,sports and family... glad he came to us at his age so we can see what we can do about it.. I decided to let him know I'll quit until he becomes a little more mature (18-21) making better choices after high school pressures and peers. We live in a state where it's legal.. I never hid my habit when boys were growing up so I wouldn't be a bad dad telling them no while I did. I educated them as we went along in life, told them I did harder things and whittled it down to just being an old hippie that likes his smoke. Each decade has a different way to teach good n bad about drugs.. alcohol, pills,and cigarettes are taught its ok but gotta be 21 yrs.. and never a good teaching about using and being around the herb. I probably might return to the burn but I'm gonna make sure my boys have a better start than I did. Good video and thanks for sharing primo. Hasta

The normal feeling I feel is just the feeling or your cabanoid receptors not being loaded all the time, it's not really a big difference, but if your self conscious enough on how certain things effect you, like foods and what not like you'll probably feel it but I can see how someone could let it slip by without them noticing, when your a heavy smoker you always have an abundance of cabanoids which makes a VERY mild almost come down feeling/vibe whether your high or not when your an active smoker, and when you quit there is a slight change your general feeling/awareness it's hard to explain, it's really easy to miss though I personally didnt even realise it till like the 3rd or 4th time I quit for an extensive period of time and then once I was aware of it I could tell the difference each time I stopped for awhile or started smoking again, but ya I'd say it's a real thing for everyone, it just depends if your aware of it or not

So. Here is the thing: I've been smoking daily for 4 years. I'm thinking about quitting AGAIN, cause I've already quit years ago and now I need that kind of "liberty" my brain had a long time ago. I was sharper, faster, optimistic on the long period, and I use to dive 100% into projects/jobs/exams to build myself a solid "life". But now.. everything is falling apart. I'm following your videos and trying to "reset" myself, my thinking. 'Cause I think it's about "taking back" your mind, somehow. I figured, it's like I have to re-program myself. It takes a lot of will power, but the first "step" it's to accept the reality I HAVE MADE UP, action by action, step by step, decision by decision, then realize where am I at this point? and where do I want to go. Anyway. Have a nice day! Keep it up ;)

You hit it right on the nail. That "liberty" is still there, 100%. It's just tucked away. When I was still lost and stuck in weed dependency/addiction, I was scared I'd never have that liberty feeling again. After 8 years of being stoned and letting my life rot, I had forgotten who I was. I am here to confirm that the version of you who is sharper, faster, and optimistic will return eventually

13 day's off weed. Sleep is slowly returning. Brain fog is pretty intense, way worse then when I smoked everyday. Anxiety is pretty intense, but goes away with a good session at the gym. I'm 46 and have smoked daily for so long I don't even remember how long. I have grown my own for more than 10 years now... Honestly I feel debilitated and yet it's these feelings that harden my resolve to get through it. I also don't plan to quit forever, but defiantly for long enough that my relationship with the drug changes. I'd be ok using once every few weeks or something similar to what you are talking about Gabriel.

I liked the video, very authentic! Let me share one thing that helped me for you guys here in the comments, for as I can see lots of people are struggling. I’m not fully healed but I think I’ve gained some powerful insights on my journey of addiction. The tool is to simply let your ego „die“ so it can be reborn. Imagine how the young and rebellious kid who doesn’t want to do anything but waste time dies and transforms into a mature version of yourself you’ve been dreaming of. Do that on a daily basis until you transform. Hope that helps, stay strong and smart out there!

Haven’t smoked or done any drugs in almost a year, just a couple more months. I’ve been researching cannabis and the main concerns I have with it are Mental health, lung health, The Digestive track, and daily activities. I’ve been wanting to smoke some weed, but I’m different from a year ago. I don’t want to smoke it all the time and I’m much smarter then I was a year ago. The way I see it is cannabis can be bad for some people if you have mental illness etc. But if you just use it and have no self control no discipline it will take you down a deep hole 💯

I wouldn’t consider my self addicted cuz I don’t smoke everyday but I do smoke to get away from my problems and just cuz I love feeling happy.If I do smoke I usually smoke 3-7 days and then stop for a month or 2 and then smoke again. Idk if that’s a problem but I doubt it
