My son has made family video, as well as weddings.. ( and he has done an amazing job..) So when I read that you had a budget of only 200 dollars and finished this in seven months I am impressed.. I will never understand how people can be so critical.. I when you have no clue the amount of work that goes into a project like this one.. Instead of running these young people down ..perhaps comment on how brave they were ...to go forward.....If these young people were my friend and family I would be so proud of them.. I dont know them and I am proud.. I truly enjoyed your film..and can only imagine how amazing your films will be in the years to come.. Keep on making films.. dont let anyone stop you from doing what you love and enjoy.. Thank you for posting your film.. again I really enjoyed it... I am subscribing and liking your film.. all my best.. grandma

Well most of the budget of major films goes into salery, catering (chuckle) as well as marketing. As this is a student film all work for free, eat Mommies goods of the care packet and there is no marketing =)

Ok I admire your positive outlook, but do you really think its clever or creative to do one more half assed zombie movie? I understand the money constraints and I applaud all those that gave their time to do this, but come on please, if someone came up to me and said "I am going to do a zombie movie for my project!" I would strongly advise against it unless it was only a vehicle for them to show they know how to hold a camera! Its a jaded theme and only goes to shine a light on their LACK of creative talent.

People are making personal remarks about the producer, this is just the manner of expression in response to post apoplectic genre of films, the cinematography is good, the acting good, viewers are fans of the genre, part of the fun is pointing out life after apocalypse and how there are parallels, just one long film for most, as they catch up with another round of survivors. It's just that, we can't hide from the Virus Corona Covid 19, and it seems to me I would be hiding in the bush or walking anyplace but the middle of a highway, in a city I would be searching for a basement window, after all zombies seem to have trouble going down stairs, in most films they run up stairs. You can better judge the film by the number of people who watch it, so don't worry, your son will probably make another and next time, please permit survivors to find clever ways of hiding as they travel in search of humanity, Ok? Have fun with your talented son.

@John Bower, Riiiiight! Like "Walking Dead" Zombies could really happen?!? Sure, some could become walking Biohazard humans but REALLY?!? Walking dead that seek to kill you eat human flesh??!!?? WTH wouldn't they be eating each other? Would they be so inclined to want to eat ONLY "fresh" human flesh? SERIOUSLY?!? Yeah, it ain't happening, now or EVER! But as long as Hollyweird keeps making movies about such happenings, folks will continue to watch them (as will I to an extent) for the entertainment value. But the survival "tactics" are ridiculous and entirely unrealistic. But might as well have fun making fun of those who believe it possible. Bwhahahahahahahaha!! Overnout

@@user-td1zo3tv9p... Yes... because everyone knows that NOBODY (government or otherwise) would ever try to manipulate the genome of a virus to create some type of weapon out of it... And everyone knows that, even if they ever did... NOTHING could ever go awry because they're so smart... And, in the "absolutely impossible" event that someone DID what no one would ever do... And, in the far less likely event that anything DID go awry (as we know could never happen)... Then, at least we KNOW that THEY would be totally honest about it, admit their mistake, and share whatever necessary cure with EVERYONE. It's a relief to know that this, or any variation on this... is impossible.

The girl fails to stay concealed (sits out in the open). She has no medical supplies. Walks into an "unknown" situation, does not assess situation, and where "bad" people want to kill her. Then she loses her weapons, her go-pack.... a film about getting yourself killed. How about a film about the right things to do !!??

@@tegunn... Obviously she somehow managed to avoid all encounters for the first 200+ days... and the story joins her at her first encounter. Had she been having such encounters every day, or even every OTHER day... she would have run out of ammo 175 days ago. One 10 round magazine per day (and it looked like she was using more than that) times 200 days = 2000 rounds... I doubt she could have carried (any more than) that, traveling on foot.

Over all Well done. MOST "civilians & untrained & in experienced" would probably act and function this way. As a former military officer and survival instructor - who now makes Indie films, it is VERY important to TRY to see the "other perspectives" when making this sort of film. HOWEVER, humans adapt and adjust VERY QUICKLY! by day 200 there would be MAJOR changes in both girls. Thanks. Good film.

I thought this was a great work. Reading what your limitations for budget and time amazed me that you put something so good together. Don't listen to all the "clean hair, clean shirt, auto-fire etc." crap people are commenting about. Temporary Suspension of Disbelief people. I've seen 50 million dollar movies where burning cigarettes get longer and almost empty beers refill and 9mm Glocks fire 30+ rounds on a single clip and machine guns never run out etc. etc. Ad nauseum. The plot moved along quickly as it has to if you wanna tell your story. Don't stop. Don't listen to haters and overly critical nitpickers. None of them would ever make it to day 212 with such blinders obscuring their vision. Well Done!

Yep, Conserve ammo is primary objective in any wet work operation. Kill ANY other way than with your primary weapon because that is what will save you when it really gets bad. Good short though. The wrap up was lacking emotion, but I guess your emotions would be pretty shot at that point anyway, so maybe it is actually a thumbs up for realism?

@@cray9868... I don't see in the comment posted by Elizes Francia, where she said to give them a trophy... just a break. Were you an expert driver the day you obtained your learner's permit? Were you at the top of your profession on the first day at your first job in your field? Sure, you weren't given a trophy for showing up. But obviously, you WERE given the opportunity to learn your craft (whatever it may be) and to grow within your trade. Most of these short films are made by students who are trying to learn the craft of filmmaking, not by Hollywood producers. Hollywood producers don't (as a rule) make short films to post on KZfaq... they make feature length movies intended for the box office. Everyone needs to start somewhere (whatever they choose to do), and an opportunity to practice. They post to venues such as KZfaq to showcase their talent (so far), and to seek "constructive criticism" to help them improve in their art. Giving them "a break", simply means to allow them to continue practicing their art so they can get better at it, and maybe someday BECOME great producers, directors or actors... Not quite the same as giving them a trophy. Please don't take this comment as the start of an argument, or any kind of attack on you personally. That's not at all my intent. Just pointing out something that MANY people overlook.

Please don't take things wrong, I'm only trying to help. A little tip for using airsoft guns in movies. Mix some led shot and putty or clay, pull the gun apart and fill it full. With it being much heaver actors won't need to act like they are and will make them look much more realistic wile filming. About 1.5 lbs for handguns and 8.0 lbs for rifles. Take a look at 4:53 she holds the rifle with one hand like it's made of plastic then points it at her leg, she knows it's not real and treats as such. I did enjoy the movie and look forward to more.

This is the first post-apocalyptic film to feature a skipping zombie. Around 15:30. The only way you can top that is with a hula-hooping zombie.

I love these short films. This one is great! I was wondering, and I'm not trying to be offensive at all, but is there a list of requirements to submit a short film? They look fun to produce and be a part of, these people must be having a ton of fun.

You have to love it when she writes in the diary that the ammo is almost gone, then uses bursts of full auto on zombies a minute later.

1) real weapons have recoil 2) she's been out a year and finally the ammo runs out 3) she's been out a year, stayed alive, but lacks recon skills 4) the guy in-supply has blood on his face 5) she actually hits her target while both a) running and b) turning around to do it.

Not bad for such a low budget. The scenes were well shot with good angles and the young lady gave a believable performance. Special effects werent bad considering you werent using real blanks.Overall very well done. Look forward to watching your future film projects if you choose to make more. Also I have to say in a true apocalypse situation and your gun is selective fire Dont fire on full-automatic or burst mode. You have to fire on semi-automatic to make every shot count because ammo will be scarce, lol. I had to mention it. Stay Awesome.

Lots of picky negative comments. Its better than most I have seen. People expect characters to be perfect, make no mistakes. Perfection makes for a boring movie. Mistakes are human and believeable. Its better than anything I could produce.
