Agitation Free is very much underrated, their second album is just as good as the first one. Also, what a grail is Weed. Great stuff ❤

Hello Michael, Sure, rare records are becoming increasingly difficult to get. Every record that is sold ends up on the shelf and disappears from the range for a long time. I bought XHOL Caravan on eBay for 22 years for only 35 euros, that was a great price back then, it was usually over 100 euros. I was so happy. I also have Agitation Free, but I paid a lot more for that. The 3 records are really great grails - really brilliant. Thanks for the great video.

When I was a child, record fairs were a place to get a bunch of records that you wouldn’t find regularly in stores. Mind you I started attending them in 1980, when I was still located in Germany. Nowadays, especially here in the States, fairs are mostly to spend top dollar for one or two titles max.

That was my experience when I was younger in the 80’s & 90’s. I was mostly looking for European imports of New Order 12’s and 7”s etc. It’s a lot different nowadays, but still fun. Good observations Michael.

I agree completely with the increase in women interested in collecting records. I worked at a record store in the US from 1986-2005, in this time, there were VERY few women regularly coming in. I would say, in the entire time I worked there. 99% of the customers were male. Now, when I go to a store, sometimes, there are more women than men. The first time I witnessed this. It was a shock, at the same time I thought, "FINALLY!" I agree too that this is fantastic, because it brings an entirely different customer to the records store. Women have a much more eclectic and artistic music interest than most men. But this is also changing, and most people listen to an eclectic range of music today. In the 80's people who listened to Metal, that was it. Pop, that's it. It was the New Wave and Punk people who were like people today. They were listening to everything. They experimented, and hunted down new music, because imports were hard to find, and expensive. So, we didn't get to order, or hear the music. At times, customers would let us know about new stuff. Also, magazines were't always the best source of information either. There were underground mags, but many were locally made. Like Maximum Rock and Roll from California. It was a huge mag filled with new punk, goth, experimental, and band listings, and ways to order directly from them. But the European magazines were too expensive as well, and we didn't order them very often either. One more thing, cost. We used to have $.10/10 for $1, and $1 records, these were the records that today, people are paying as much as $100 for one of those $.10. That's 10 pennies. Because they were scratched, the covers were worn and damaged. Once I got a MONO Piper at the Gates of Dawn for free because the cover was so bad. The record was almost perfect. I sold it to a friend for $20, because it was his dream record. You can look that up, it's worth a bit today, first pressing in mono. The past too, only 10 years ago, I found a MONO pressing of the DOORS first album at a Goodwill for $1.This will NEVER happen again, or now. Records, that are collectable, are almost impossible to find now, because there are too many collectors and too few records. Once at the store we had Elvis' first album. 78rpm, in the original wax paper sleeve, for $90. It sat for years and years, no one ever bought it the whole time we had it displayed. Record shows have completely changed too. But that's a whole different topic.

Having the women and young people is critical! Unfortunately, in the US I’ve seen these demographics mostly stop buying or havent been for a long time. Hopefully this trend you’re seeing is a positive and will happen in US too

I am a grumpy old man...I have thousands of records......I rarely play them......I played my OG OZ 45 of The Stones LADY JANE yesterday and was pleasantly surprised how superior this MONO GEM sounded....maybe sometime in the future I might play another record!!!!!!

Great Records. My favorite is WEED. Fun fact: On this Album is Ken Hensley from Uriah Heep under the pseudonym Ken Lesley on vocals and Keyboards. For all they want this Record, there is a fabulous Reissue from the Long Hair Label from 2014 very good sounding. It is to get under 50 €. for an OG you must pay 1000 € or more.

3 krautrock lps in my list of wants. At the WFMU record fair in 2023, it was problematic on many fronts. Bad location, no where to eat and no re-entry when you left. Luckily that is changing this year but record fairs are always exciting and a bit nerve racking because you know you're going to see some rare records, that you will undoubtedly want. Cheers Michael!

I can only dream going to record fairs in Germany there massive some of dem I couldn't imagine what would be there but sadly with all fairs and shops around world the prices are shocking and are killing the hobby We have theses sad little record fairs in Australia and the prices on all re issues are mind blowing and what I enjoy collecting don't exist at fairs it's almost like they know what I like and don't sell them Sad really lucky I can buy from discogs or ebay or I would have nothing as what I buy on there I've never ever seen for sale in Australia

I still think it’s a pity that regarding the record fair in The Netherlands they changed the location from Utrecht to Den Bosch.
