Whew, just finished this movie and I must say, I haven't had a film touch me in this way since Terms of Endearment. It kind of puts things in perspective and makes us realize how precious and fleeting life really is. 😭

I understand Julianne's character not wanting anyone to know about her illness. I'm terminal as well and when I've told someone, they treat me different and I don't like that. The sadness and pity in their eyes makes my time left here sad and I don't want anyone sad. It's a celebration of life.

Thank God Michelle Williams is the one they decided to cast for this part. She has depth and is a tremendous actress.

I started watching last night and couldn't stop, great movie!

I watched the first 5 seconds of this trailer today and headed to the movie theater to see the whole thing. Michelle Williams deserves an Oscar nomination for this (and a frigging win this time)!!!!

Michelle Williams is a really underrated actress.

The original is way much better. Nothing beat the original.

I never saw the Danish original this remake . This film which is very sad and has a lot of subtext to the dialogue I found an incredible film. Very moving and very sensitively done. Moore, Crudup and Williams are all incredibly believable. Quinn as the confused daughter is very effective and portrays a jilted and unsure quirkiness from her beginning entrance. The shots are gorgeous, the interiors are all fascinating. I highly recommend this film if you are after a gentle watch with subtle yet heart tugging, tearjerking scenes. The plot twist is very satisfying to watch through to its breezy full circle ending. The original was hailed and this version though more calm becomes a real shock and has a very American quality of endings and beginnings and of the circle of ones past.

The Sweden version is excellent! Mads Mikkelsen plays the Michell Williams role. They already changed the movie and it does make a huge difference. If you have a chance do watch the original.

OMG! Here is this Earthquake of a Screenplay just waiting to happen. Michelle Williams, all these Amazing performances just one after the other; this movie she Rises and levitates above the whole darn movie!!! I mean-Serious Acting going on here 🏆🏆🏆 "Get Away From ME!"-YES!!! The juxtapositions from the Orphanage to the Opulence-absolutely. Julianne Moore also broke my Heart!!! SO Many Tears for this one. Impossible NOT to cry. Really a Special movie that just rips up the soul. Both women SHINE! So many different sides and one little baby that needed saving. Billy Crudup what he did--yes so easy to judge and hate him for what he did, but also to wonder was he trying to shelter the baby and did he really think she didn't want her baby? I still think what he did was terribly WRONG. The Mom needs to know ALWAYS. That was HER BABY! Anyway, ridiculously wicked 1st Class Movie. And that Orphanage that She ends up Saving! True Beauty 🌷🌠💗 Brave Onward Michelle Williams! You are TITANIUM!

The original of Susanne Bier is a great film. However I don't quite get how the plot would work with a complete gender reversal. In the original the Indian orphanage manager is a man and the gender of the other two leads (the rich couple) is also reversed. This works great for the "secret" of the film but it could not possibly work if the gender of all three was reversed due to the nature of the secret. So my guess is that the secret of this remake is quite different and has nothing to do with (SPOILER!). Either way I am not going to watch this. I strongly doubt it could surpass the original and since it can't what would be the point?

I saw this trailer today and it looked so great (and had my favorite actors) that I watched it. I have to say that the people who worked on the trailer are really, really good at their jobs. I watched the entire thing thinking that something twisted or exciting was about to happen, but it never did!! It's just the most boring and pointless movie I think I've ever seen.

The original version in Danish feels way better.

If Michelle Williams and Keira Knightley won't be nominated for Best Actress category in their roles in After The Wedding and Official Secrets or The Aftermath for Knightley, the Academy proves itself to be a total bullshit. René Zellweger is fantastic in Judy, I'm waiting for Charlize Theron and Saoirse Ronan in Bombshell and Little Women to see who could really snatch a trophy and give René a run for her money. Well for now, my nominees are René, Charlize, Saoirse, Michelle and Keira. That would be a very strong line up of nominees. How I really wish the Academy will not snub Michelle Williams and Keira Knightley's performances.

Man that was hard to watch. One scene.. close relatives meet after a long time apart and the reunion is.. well.. catatonic. Ive never met a meditator with such little emotional intelligence. Im astounded at the audience vs critics score. People are dumb.

Booooring...! Was in the cinema today and every one Just wanted to leave, because... Nothing happend at all. Shiti women movie at it's best.

5 mins into watching "After the wedding" (suggested by Netflix as part of "Gems for you") and I am already irritated beyond words. In what looks like Madurai, and has Tamizh writing on walls and signboards, the back ground chatter in this yet-another-firang-made-movie-about-India is in Hindi!!! Yep. that'll happen! 😂 And when people finally begin to speak in Tamizh, the clueless and presumably brainless and extremely lazy person who did the subtitles tells us (speaking Bengali)... Whaaaat? The film casting opened with shots of a South Indian temple and tank where a white woman was teaching meditation, and the background chants coming from the temple were the famous Maharadshtrian song in praise of Ganesh, "jai dev jai dev jai Mangal murti" which is in Marathi!!!!... Is the film maker and entire crew labouring under the misconception that all indians speak the same language? Or that the languages are geographically interchangeable??? Looks like this is going to be one of those.... I stand corrected. The subtitler is obviously stone deaf and working by guesswork, because recitation of Johnny Johnny, yes papa, by a bunch of kids, is also "singing in Bengali" and all other speech both Hindi and Tamizh are marked as (speaking in Bengali) as someone who speaks all 5 of these languages, I feel particularly outraged!!! oh my god!!!!!!!!!
