I remember arriving at San Quentin as a 20 year old. It was absolutely the most terrifying experience of my life. Back then, 1992, they still had the weights. And pulling up past that yard looked exactly like all the prison movies I had seen. On my second or third day, coming back from dinner, as we were heading back up the stairs, (I was on the 4th tier, cell number 4 C25 to be exact,) I noticed below me a guy getting punched and stomped out by what looked like about 6 dudes. It was one of the worst beatings I had ever seen. I just stood there froze watching. My celly, who had been there before, and was kind of watching out for me, said "Keep it moving! Don't stand here and watch shit!!" Anyway, long story short, it turns out that the guy died the next day. Needless to say, since 1992, I never went back. Scared straight..

Thank you for the videos. I'm 30. Locked up for a time in a psych ward in my teens because my aunt lied about me. If you ever end up locked up anywhere, you can recover so long as you don't lose hope. They took my clothes, drugged me, and locked me in a room with no windows. At first I was happy I was alone but I awoke after the drugging to find a much taller, stronger guy had been thrown in while I was knocked out. I'm very thankful that this guy wasn't a jerk. There were no bars or windows, just a solid door and no one would hear you scream or see you if you were attacked. That was a horrible time for me. I was barely still a minor so it didn t affect my adult life. There was 1 thing, the drugs messed me up. What they used was stronger than morphine, caused memory problems, and altered my health from then on. Of course that was illegal and they got what they had coming. Still, that place was shut down after abuse was discovered. One thing there that kept me from losing it was my mother, and the isolation room. In that room there are 10 straps, you are completely unable to move, drugged, and they even put a window there that allows everyone in the common area to see you. Fortunately though I was no longer able to go to school, my boss kept my job open and accepted, even believed me when I told him the truth. The truth? My dad had been dying, and my aunt moved in next door with her 30 year old kid and his kids. After dad died from cancer after a long 9 months, she told people my mom and I beat my dad often, that I was violent, even spread it to my uncles. When he was cremated, she took his ashes and his other things. My uncle's believed me, and took them back, then handed them to me at the beach. I guess that ticked her off. I wanted to ask her, honestly, why she did these things. I just knocked on her door, and said nothing aggressive, didn't force my way in or make threats... Age just called the police and played it out like some actor, like she was abused. I pity her, and I forgive her, but I doubt I'll ever see her again.

This man would be excellent for youth programs in high schools, community agencies and private organizations. He is articulate and clear in his story telling. He is a great presenter. Should be doing a lot of public speaking. I'd suggest no cursing though. The story is compelling enough.

possibly, but I wouldnt necessarily say this is evidence that he could be a good public speaker. This video is edited pretty well to make it flow nicely. I've never been to prison but spent lots of time in jail from 17 to 21. The last time I was in jail was in 1992 in which I was locked up in Kansas City county for two months. And was waiting to be transported to my town for a hearing. Well they refused to come get me and they let me out one night at 9 PM and said to get off their property or be arrested again. They told me I had two days to get to my home town in southern Missouri for court. I had no car, no money, nothing. I ended up the next morning begging for work in which I got enough for a bus ticket. I went to court with no lawyer. I went up to a lawyer in court and told him the whole deal. We;ll when my name was called that lawyer stood up and helped me. Why? I don't know because he didn't know me and didn't have to, but the Judge told me this was the last time I will stand in front of him because if he sees me again I would do 3 years in prison. And that was the last time I ever got in trouble.

I looked up LA Public Arrest records and saw that my dad was released a few months ago. I haven't had contact with him since 2012. I found my aunt's phone number and she says he lives near her. This weekend we're driving there and I'm going to go up to him acting like I'm a stranger and watch as he realises that he's in fact talking to his son. I'm so excited. I guess I say this because you kind of remind me of him, (as a compliment), you're both cool and just grind through to make things happen. So, thank you, Joe, because you inspired me to go through arrest records. 😂😂😂

Being on that bus as it pulled into the gate and seeing two fences topped with razor wire and the rolls of razor wire filling the space between the fences, I found out what it feels like to be on the wrong side of all that. Not to mention the guard towers at the corners which of course are manned by guards armed with high powered rifles who will not hesitate to shoot any prisoner fool enough to be outside the fences. The feeling cannot be explained to someone who has not experienced it. Freedom is precious!!!

Some Cheese yah but they would act poor as fuck because if people knew they had money in the outside gangs would extort them.
@strikeforcek9149
@strikeforcek9149 7 жыл бұрын
Some Cheese I was one of those "prison rich" guys. Prison rich: Someone that has a good support system outside of prison (family, friends, maybe a good savings stocked up, etc). Someone that can make a single phone call and get money on your books, get money orders sent out, get phone money put on, and yada yada... 1) You don't EVER let anyone know what you have outside or what kind of support you have. 2) you hide your good fortune from everyone else like it's a huge secret or something. 3) be very, very, VERY particular in who you hang with, who you're friends with, and how you slender your money and how you get your money. The reasons for 1 through 3 listed above, is that 99.9% of those guys in there are living on "state pay". ($15 a month is what the state gives them for working, to buy their necessities). So, the 0.01% of the guys "with money" in prison, basically control/makeup the 'prison economy'. (the amount of extra money flosting around that people buy illicit contraband with and etc).... So, you don't want anyone knowing you're set. Otherwise, you instantly become the biggest, most desired, #1 target for gangs to try and extort, fuck with, and taken advantage of. So, yeah, nothing says prison is awesome like a pack of 40 Gangster Deciples rolling up on you ready to kill you unless you pay $500/mo to the gang. lol (that never happened to me, but I know plenty of dudes that shit like that happened to over pennies... literally over litreral-fuckinngggg-pennies dude... Like, dudes getting stabbed up because the had $40 worth of commissary on them. (that's like walking around with $4k on you in prison). So, yeah... Any questions, feel free to ask.

@strikeforcek9149 7 жыл бұрын
the kidd Prison was absolutely scary. You pull up to the gates and you have this huge rush of adrenaline hit you like, "Fuck... I'm really here, it's really going down..." lol. But, I'm a pretty decent built 6'3" dude with tattoos from head to toe, sleeved out, neck/throat all tattooed, and etc... So, the first few weeks no one really tried me, but you best believe they watched the fuck out of me trying to "figure me out" and "feel me out" to see if I'd be an easy target worth going after or if I was hell on wheels and wouldn't be worth the level of violence I'd reign down on them. After my 3rd week, a group of "heartless felons" tried stealing my shit while I was on the yard. My bunkie was the head pic the compound's "Netas" gang, so he agreed to have my back and make sure the gang didn't jump me when I went to get my shit back AS LONG AS I beat the living fuck out of the first punk to step to me. So, I went and found one of the dudes that took my stuff and then instantly swung on site and it was on from there. lol. I ended up straight up mopping the floor with this dude by time the C.O.'s got to us, and I was elbowing him in the face repetitively when the CO's got to me, so they yoked me up and full-nelsoned me, then proceeded to empty an entire can of tear gas into my mouth, in my ears, up my nose, down my throat, and all in my face... Yes, it sucked HORRIBLY... lol I spent 3 weeks in the hole, came back to the same block, and then the Neta's (vicious spanish gang) had my back out of respect from there on out. Being a whiteboy in prison and refusing to join up with any bs gangs instantly makes you an easy target bc you have no backup. But, they respected the fact I just wanted to do my 4 years and go home without catching any outside cases or getting into the bullshit prison politics, so they kinda acted as my silent guardian angels from there on out. But mainly, they were impressed with how quick I was to run into a group of gang members and just start flying off the cuff on one of them, so I earned a lot of respect and didn't become known as "just another pussy ass whiteboy who wouldn't stand up for himself". Even if you were to lose miserably, you'll still earn TONS of respect for at least TRYING to stand up for yourself. Then, you'll have a lot of the 'quiet gangsters' (the TRULY baddest motherfuckers that everyone has to go through first before "picking a shot" on someone) start looking out for you and declining to allow gangs and newbies to fuck with you. ("Picking shots" means: robbing, beating up, fucking with an individual that you singled out because they seemed like an easy target.) Other than that, yes, prison can be extremely scary. Little mini block Riots sometimes pop off and you'll be included in it regardless because "Mob mentality" takes over and all the wreckless inmates just start going chaotic on random people during the scuffles. There's an immense amount of "hush hush violence" that goes on behind the C.O.'s backs, and you're often wondering when are YOU going to be the guy that gets fucked up randomly in an area where you can't get any help or backup. And a lot of other gruesome and violent shit you will witness without a doubt.. Now, keep in mind: this is in a level 2 Medium Security joint in Ohio (Belmont). The higher security levels toy go up, the more nasty the violence becomes. But, I the flipside, some prisons are VERY laxed and the majority of guys aren't on crazy hoodlum type shit and just wanna do their time and go home, so there's a lot less BS inn these types of places. But, there's wayyyy more really shitty, violent, and chaotic prisons, than there are laxed/chill prisons. But, yes, it is scary. Never, EVER let your guard down, and never think that you're "safe". and remember: NONE of those guys are truly your friends... Most everyone is there for being an absolute piece off shit in society, so just because they're being "cool" with you doesn't mean they've instantly found Jesus or something. They're still inherently dangerous deep down, and since everyone starts looking the same, sounding the same, and acting the same like robots after a while, never forget the fact that you have NO IDEA what each one of them are capable of. Stay away from gambling, never accept "gifts" from others, and never, ever, EVER borrow something... Just keep your chin up, but your head down, and do your time by flying under the radar and staying out if the bullshit and you'll end up fine. Violate any of these rules, and you'll find out REAL QUICK how the show "Oz" got its storylines. lol

Damn American prisons... In Europe at least they try to rehabilitate the people instead of pure punishment

Fcking prick you could go to jail for owing 500eu at the bank or false accusation , America even used death penalty on some INNOCENT people and after they "apologized" for it when they had the REAL EVIDENCE for the REAL PERPETRATOR. Not all who go there are rapists and murderers stupid worm go hide in a hole

I have a loved one in local jail in va. Might be looking at 3 to 5. In prison. Court is later this month. September 2018. I wish I could have you talk to him several years ago when he started screwing up. Thank you for sharing your experience. Hopefully you can take your bad experiences and make a positive impact on some one. Thanks again sir.
