I absolutely love them! The fact that the ear canal is not blocked is a huge plus. You can still hear what’s going on around you but, at the time you can hear perfectly the sound coming from your aeropex. I accidentally showered with them and I was so worried that I had destroyed them but not, absolutely nothing happened to them. Love them!

Great review; you nailed it. I was going to replace my Jaybirds with the Jaybird 2, but decided not to compromise and bought the Aftershokz Aeropex for running and cycling outside and Bose Sport buds for the gym. Both are perfect; I knew the Bose sounded great, a good step up from the Jaybirds, but wanted awareness outdoors; the Aeropex have exceeded my expectations for this and are more than good enough for quality and loudness, as well as being very comfortable to wear.

I appreciate this well rounded detailed video you’ve made, thank you! I have terrible pain from ear buds. While I have excellent traditional over-the-ear style headphones, they are not convenient for school and work. I’ve been doing research to make the smartest purchase for bone conduction as it can be quite pricey on a budget. So thank you again for this amazing product review my friend!

Great review. The only thing I would add is that when you hold the two volume buttons together, it changes the eq to less bass for when you are wearing the earplugs. You can change it back by holding the two buttons again for when not wearing earplugs.

Spot on review! I have a pair because of ear problems that are compounded by in- ear buds. I have had a long term use issue, though. The volume up / power button has broken twice on mine. I admit I use them a lot for podcasts and phone calls. So maybe I’m using that button’s lifespan in a short time - nine months.

I have these and what’s really neat is that the sounds become more intense if you actually put hearing protection ear plugs in your ear canal. I totally thought the opposite reaction would happen but nope. I will likely buy these again if I ever lose my shokz

Ear plugs will also cause moisture and evaporation to happen causing ear wax in the ear. Not taking care of ear wax can cause ear infections like cholesteatoma in the ear. So don’t wear ear plugs too long.

Fascinating technology, but I'd prefer over- or in-ear headphones since the bone conduction ones, like you point out, isn't blocking other sounds out due to the fact they're not blocking the ear canals. (Coming from a personal point of view, nowadays being a gym rat and not an outdoor athlete - yet) Great review as usual! Keep it up my friend!

The technology has its advantages but it's not meant to be used in the gym for sure. But this was the first time I felt safe listening to music on the bike so that's kind of a big deal

I believe I mentioned it in the video too that in for gym use these might not be the best because there usually is loud music coming from the speakers which could overpower the sound of your headphones. At least that is my experience

I returned my Aftershokz Aeropex today. I bought it yesterday. It was great in every way, except one thing: I expected it to be ONLY bone conduction, and not both bone conduction and the regular in-ear headphone. When I turned it on and put it on the table, it was so loud that I could hear it from outside my room! It was like a loudspeaker. I don't understand why they added the regular in-ear speaker function to it. It was really a pity that I had to return it. Does anyone know any headphone that has ONLY bone conduction sound, and not in-ear sound?
@AndysTechTone
@AndysTechTone 2 жыл бұрын
The Aftershokz Aeropex have no traditional speakers, it's bone conduction only. You might have heard the table resonating...
@sc--
@sc-- 2 жыл бұрын
@@AndysTechTone Thanks for your reply. I also held it in my hand. I turned the volume up to "middle", and could hear it clearly when it was in my hand, ie a distance of about 30 centimetres from my ears. When I put it on highest level, it was really loud and clear. I would not call it headphone anymore, but loudspeaker! If it has no traditional speaker, then the problem was only my specific device, and not a general one. That is still strange. Can you please test this by holding your Aeropex in your hand (while on highest level) and see if you hear anything?
@JeremyHalterman
@JeremyHalterman 2 жыл бұрын
@@sc-- I realize this is several months old but feel the need to reply for anyone looking at these or other bone conduction headphones (perhaps the newly announced OpenRun Pros). Sound is produced when the transducers cause something (e.g., your cheekbone) to vibrate upon physical contact. Since the headphones themselves are a physical object, they will necessarily vibrate since they physically contain the transducers. In effect, anything the transducers touch-even the headphone casing-becomes in some sense a speaker. This “leakage” could theoretically be reduced by internal shock absorption and/or dampening, but these would come at a size and weight penalty that might not be worth the tradeoff. I’m hoping the new OpenRun Pros will improve the leakage issue as previous generations have, but as of now it seems to just come with the territory. Hope this helps!
