This was his very first TV performance and he got called in at the last minute as another comedian pulled out. His manager lent him the money to buy a suit that day for that performance. I read his Autobiography and he speaks about it in that.

Kevin Bridges is brilliant. I actually had to tone his Glaswegian accent down because if he spoke in his home accent most people wouldn’t understand him, especially the American audience. But Bridges is a star comedian🤣

Matt Y I’m American and about a year ago I watched a video with Kevin Bridges on the Graham Norton show, it was the first time I had ever heard of him, and I didn’t understand a single word he said. Shortly after that I got into British shows like 8 out of 10 cats and WILTY and I recently went back and watched the video and I understood every word. I guess I have gotten used to the accents.

It's great the way you can understand him given that he has a very strong Glaswegian accent. I think most Americans would have struggled.

A guy came up to Kevin a couple of weeks after he told this joke and said 'gimme a pound or ill stab you' as a reference to the joke, and kevin started laughing, saying the people beside him at the bus stop must of thought he was hard as nails. I think he told the story on the Jonathan Ross show

I saw Kevin live in my beautiful home town of Bradford a few years ago, quite a few years after this joke was first told. Naturally a few bell ends shouted “bus stop” towards the end, as if he hadn’t written any other jokes since then, so he ended up cutting the show a bit short and walking off the stage with his head in his palm lol which I don’t blame him for really, but still a great show.

The bus stop clip is from Kevin Bridges' first national TV appearance. It made him famous, although a lot of his later stuff is much better. Check his sleepover sketch or his stuff about Hallowe´en in Glasgow.

Kevin Bridges is more like Billy Connolly, both their humour is observational and both are story tellers. Some of their stories are true and some definitely are not BUT you never can guess which ones are and which are not..... that is also what makes them both so funny...... oh and the are both Scottish
