This sitcom is a forgotten gem. When Rowan Atkinson is interviewed about his career he’s only ever asked about Blackadder, Mr Bean and Johnny English. The Thin Blue Line is just as good as all of those. I love it. I remember when it was broadcast back in the mid 90s it was a lot more popular with the public than it was with critics. The public was right and the critics were wrong.

Raymond Fowler is such an interesting character for him. He still has Blackadder’s wit, but he’s lost his worldliness.

😁 It's Grim's line actually. For context Grim is complaining that Fowler has messed up but it looks like his (Grim's )fault, putting his "arse on the line".

The actor Rudolph Walker who's in this show was also in the first episode of Mr. Bean. He was also in a very "politically incorrect" sitcom in the 70s called Love Thy Neighbour.

"cabbage" was quite an old fashioned pet name in the 90s and pretty much unheard of today but very fitting for Rowan Atkinson's character. Supposedly it was used by the late Prince Phillip for Queen Elizabeth

I always loved this show. Was lucky enough to get my DVD box set autographed by series creator Ben Elton. Such an underrated series… and any of Gladstones scenes is a total gem.

One way to describe the dynamic of the police in this sitcom using terms more US orientated: Think NYPD with Dixon of Dock Green grudgingly working with the FBI from The Sweeney.

Glad you enjoyed the first episode Josh, I used to love watching this growing up. A little word of warning, there are one or two off hand jokes made in later episodes that have really not aged well about certain people due to things being found out roughly 20 years on

This was a great show. That was stupid of Kevin of putting a note on there but to be fair he didn’t know that Fowler was going to use it for his plan to make his girlfriend stop hated him for forgetting there anniversary. lol

Kevin Goody, the camp character who's in love with Maggie Habib is one of my favourite characters. I'll have to mention to James (the actor who played him) that you're reacting to this series. He was great in Gimme Gimme Gimme also.

Ah when Ben Elton could still be funny..Miss those days..I'm still recovering from "The Wright Way" which was one of the worst sitcoms I have ever seen in my life, still cant believe it was written by Elton. Love The Thin Blue Line though 🥰
