Josh, in other reactions when I've heard you describe certain characters as "cold-blooded", I've often thought "if ever you come across Malcolm Tucker you'll know the true meaning of 'cold-blooded'" and that day has finally arrived 😂

I have loved British Sitcoms since 1961 and this is in My Top 5 or 6 but still behind the brilliance of Yes,Minister and Yes,Prime Minister which were written by "insiders" and it shows :)

The Thick of It was several years before Parks and Recreation but you’re right, there is a similar feel. It’s not laugh a minute but if you know the British political system you can appreciate how realistic a lot of it is. Series 1 is good, Series 2 and 3 are brilliant.

Just the absolute pinnacle of thoughtful , hard working satire from Armando Iannucci and his team . Laugh out loud , hysterical , profanity on steroids and abs spot on is the in the know reaction . I adore this series … 😅 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This first series is from 2005 and it would be out of date anyway, but it's now pretty timid. The crazy stuff that happens in real UK politics is far more absurd than anything in this show.

I enjoy the wide variety of shows you react to. I stumbled across your channel a few months ago because of your Red Dwarf videos, and since then I've been checking out others and have picked up a few new series to watch that I wasn't aware of before👍

It was only 3 episodes because it was made when the BBC4 digital channel launched, so they were funding new shoes to put on that. They had a limited amount of money and said the creator (Armando Ianucci, who created/wrote Alan Partridge, Veep etc) "what can you do with this much money" and he said "probably 3 half hour episodes." So it was three episodes, and so was the 2nd season as they just asked him to do the same again.

Glad to see you watching this, I got up to season three, I still need to finish it. I'd forgotten how great Capaldi was in this, and it's a real shame about the real-life exploits of Chris Langham. (Downloading very dodgy pics) He was very talented, hard to watch now.

TTOI isn't based off the movie (In The Loop), the movie is a sort of standalone thing with similar characters played by the same people - and of course Malcolm being Malcolm.

We Brits have the idea that U.S audiences don't understand satire ,glad to see you destroy that myth ,IN THE LOOP is spin off of this show , Chris Langham was dropped after first series when passed sex offences came to light. Always well written Peter Capaldi is brilliant as Malcolm who is based on Blair's spin doctor , when REBECCA FRONT joins the cast it gets even better .

Might be going a bit far, calling him that. He might’ve been telling the truth about being abused himself and only seeking it out from curiosity. There was only the possession of photos, no actual... you know... involved.

Well, Chris Langham is a great comic actor. He was caught with disturbing videos. It doesn't necessarily make him a paedophile. Besides, don't let the the unsavory actions of Chris stop you from appreciating his work. It was a long tone ago. It's not like he raped anybody.

fyi ... the creator and writer, Armando Iannucci, also was involved in the creation of a similar style US show called Veep, starring Seinfeld actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus as US vice president Selina Meyer (= Hillary?).
