My dad always thought that a an uneven stand in any crop was like having another weed stripping yield from the neighboring plants the later emerging plants stole yield from the first plant that emerged. If that second plant stole say 20 percent of the available nutrients that the first plant needed to make the max yield of whether it was corn, cotton, or what ever The yield of both plants would reduced. There is only a finite amt of nutrients in A square foot of cropland and due to the uneven emergence both plants basically rob nutrients from each other.

Hey guys. I have a question about strip till. Would you recommend strip tilling down the same row from last year or should I go between last years rows ? We farm dry land sand in South Alabama if that makes any differences. We are applying anhydrous and 32% with the strip tiller and broadcasting chicken manure before tilling.

So I'm an old man who was raised on a farm in the seventies who wants to get back in the farming as a retirement is there some way you can simplify all the readings of the soil sample are a chart are something that can help me make these calculations or simplify the calculations you make it sound simple but you're so much more knowledgeable that getting from me to you is a bit confusing thanks
