Heard the song a million times but never seen this video. I see they went all out on production. Cool vid. The song was a big hit of course. Major duet performed by two superstars from two different generations. Smokey was old school and Rick James was new school at least in the 80s when this came out.

Rick wrote,produced,arranged and played music for a lot of different artist, he saved Teena Marie’s musical career ! As for not knowing Rick could sing, lol, well let me introduced you to just a few of Rick’s and he & Teena Marie’s classics . Spacey Love, My Love, Teardrops,Moonchild,Love In The Night,, Oh What A Night For Love, Sha LaLa La ( Please Come Home ), When Your Love Is Gone, DONT Give Up On Love, With Teena Marie Fire And Desire, Happy, Rick wrote,arranged & produced her entire first album “ Wild & Peaceful “, please check out the song DeJaVu ( I Been Here Before ); it’s one of his most beautiful songs ! And just for shits & giggles, please check out all of The Mary Jane Girls stuff, he wrote,arranged and produced it all, check out these three songs by them in particular “ Hurting OnThe Inside “ ,Shadow Love , and Musical Love . I promise you will be aRick James fan afterwards, DONT let;the Chapelle Show leave you with the only impression of such a brilliant, but complicated musical genius . I’ve met Rick a few times, he was actually a really down to Earth person, he like others before and after him was a tragic individual !
