actually makes me tearful - 2 of the tennis people adored when we were younger, now years later married, happy. The shy yet focused West German girl who lowers her head in front of a camera when the questions are about her and not her tennis game becomes an accomplished legend, admired still by so many fans.

Steffi played a very competitive set in a wimbledon exhibition this year where she lost very narrowly 6:4 after having been in retirement for 11 years! Clijsters went on to win the US open against Serena Williams in the final that year! Steffi retired way to soon, could have easily won another couple of Grand Slams, but well, she really didn't want to play on after all these injury troubles. I really miss seeing her play. Most graceful player ever!

Graf could had win another half a dozen Grand Slams before retirement, for sure. But she chose to live a life (have kids and see them grow, built a solid marriage, become a respectful adult, entrepreneur, help others in need; all of that, surrounded by her close friends of her relatives) instead of making the crowds happy while she was spending her only life doing so. I heard that Nadal won his (I don’t know the number -or even care- ) French open and the next day could not stand from a chair because of the terrible pain he was on because of an ankle injury that had been treated with injections steroids and anesthetics every single day. Let’s see how he goes in 10 years with his own body crippled by long delayed injuries. As you can see, Graf energy and moves are intact; she is healthy and happy adult. We didn’t came to this world to make others people happy; to break our necks so others can enjoy themselves on us. We came here to live, to develop ourselves as individuals, to fulfill cicles and grow in consciousness (nurture our minds); that’s what Graf chose.

Most probably she retired in 99& it was in 2009,after watching this it is hard to believe she retired.Watching her playing its really treat for Steffi lover.
@Summon2563 жыл бұрын
Imho retired too early! (I blame marriage and Agassi in particular lol...) Should and could have won three more to make sure she surpasses Court’s all-time 24 and makes sure it would be nearly impossible for S.Williams to surpass her! The way she played in late 90’s reaching all those slam finals and even still being capable of winning them she looked like she could still be competitive for at very least a couple of years more and during that period she could have set an all-time record...but oh well...it is what it is...
@Summon2562 жыл бұрын
@Max E This is the biggest lie i’ve ever heard, i don’t believe that even Steffi itself believes in that bullshit and if she really does she is fooling herself surely! Records means glory and fame and everyone loves glory and fame, no matter how much anyone tries to convince otherwise! Lol
@Summon2562 жыл бұрын
@Max E She suddenly retired for completely different reason and that reason is known and is official - it is due to soon marriage to Agassi and further commitment to that relationship, because she didn’t want to mix sport and relationships, she wanted to spend all the time with her family and close to home…in that sense the retirement was understandable…
@Summon2562 жыл бұрын
@Max E But it had nothing to do with “not caring for records” as you implied…lmao
@Summon2562 жыл бұрын
@Max E Lmao like i said that is a lie…she didn’t care for that record, because it was accomplished in an amateur era, that was heavily inflated and lacked serious competition! That and the fact, that Court is a religious conservative bigot, who destroyed her own reputation with her world views so-much, that nobody cares about her records, including Steffi! Lol So once again she lies in those interviews! If someone like Federer held that record in women’s tennis i can guarantee you it would be talked about non-stop, by Steffi included…

For all the stick he gets, Henman really IS great player. It's a pity he never won a major championship, but that doesn't mean he wasn't an excellent player.
@fraukeschmidt83648 жыл бұрын
Clijsters is 14 years younger than Graf, and at this stage Graf had been retired for nearly 10 years, whilst Clijsters had at this point just announced her re-entry into the professional tennis circuit/circus, after a two year break. So Graf holding her own like that is pretty impressive. The age difference between Agassi and Henman is only four years, and Agassi only retired in 2006, with Henman leaving the game in 2007, so they are more even in that respect. All in all, kudos to Graf/Agassi for showing the other two a thing or two! Although maybe being a couple helped them. ;-)
@manforU1008 жыл бұрын
after this rare comeback, Kim even won her Australian open and US open..
@alanfrost757 жыл бұрын
Yeah Kim had even more potential I think, but she seemed to want to focus on family and stuff. All I can say is that Serena should thank the stars that she did because her record would have looked less stellar.
@pyro98186 жыл бұрын
Frauke Schmidt It's not just that, it's also the consistency of playing an event every 2 weeks. So yes she can hold her own at age 40 and possible even at 50, but she would have a very hard time coming back to tour and keeping up that consistency she had in the 90s. Especially with the players now, yes many of them are manly lol case and point, Serena, Sam Stosur etc. Now you don't even have to be all beefed up to hit the ball hard. Like Karolina Pliskova, she's skinny as a twig, pretty girl, but she hits the ball like a man.
@901pics4 жыл бұрын
The think there was mutual respect between all the players...as an exhibition it was stellar show of sportsmanship as well as play.

Henman being schooled by Agassi, who is making jokes and playing for the crowd...just shows how good Andre really was at his peak.
