Lets go AGATE and BEACH GLASS hunting on the South Shore of Lake Superior!! It has been a long while since we went rockhounding on that side of the BIG lake and it was a beautiful morning for some treasure hunting! Lake Superior was the first time i saw water that big, my family came from up that way, for the longest time i believed it was the ocean. 😂 looks like great rocks everywhere!!

That has to be quite the underwear amethyst formation offshore from where you are picking in Sconnie. You've done very well on that stretch of S. Shore. There is a cool artist based out of Moose Lake that picks driftwood in that area that she carves. Only thing missing from a true Sconnie adventure is enjoying a brat while swilling a brew on the beach! Great job on this one AD!

What a beautiful day to be out on the beach. The journey and scenery is worth it alone. Amazing agate finds today, beautiful amethyst, nice beach glass and that's a cool bead, would like to know the history of that. Thanks for bring my wife and I along with you!

That bead was definitely interesting! At first I thought it was a crinoid fossil but it looked carved! Very cool! I’ve found a few arrow heads but nothing like that bead!

You should leave the glass that hasn't smoothed off on the edges. Throw them back into the waterso the turn into proper sea glass :)

You should shine the uv light on your glass. I've found a few pieces of uranium beach glass. Usually it's the green and the clear.

Great finds! I’m guessing that is a hag stone and not a bead but I could be wrong. Also a tip for you and everyone about beach glass that a lot of people don’t know, if you shine a uv light in the clear pieces a lot of times they end up changing color due to being uranium glass.

Really sweet finds. I'm hoping I'll be able to hit the beaches in the spring. I was only able to get out a few times this year. But im getting stronger every day. I'll be back at it in no time. Thanks for sharing.

You need to make a trip to Michigan and get Rob(Michigan rocks) to take you to his "secret" rock collecting spots on the Shores of nebraska( in case you have not seen the video, as 99 rockhounding ). LOL 99 rockhounding got some great scores. :D

I'm starting to wonder if those pieces that look like beads might be a type of fossil. I have one just like it I found in a stream about a month and a half ago. It looks identical to yours. I've seen a couple of them before too, but I try to only keep one of most things, or I'll have too many of everything. Not having many storms, much wind this summer has made for lean finds this fall. I like the Cobalt piece you found. A friend of mine once told me it's called Depression Glass because that was the time it came out; if I remember correctly, but that is what it's called if it comes from that time period.

That looked like a great hunt. Congrats!! I was up that way over the weekend and hunted from Little girl point to Copper Harbour. Only a few agates, but killed it on the yooperlites. You are lucky to live up there and have the big lake to play on.

@@AgateDad We were in Duluth and two Harbours to do the the Zephyr train ride. I only got 1/2 hour to rock hunt the north shore and didn't find much. It was a long ride to Ontonagon.

That bead is super cool!! I wonder if was a Trade bead. Or from an old tribe in that area?? I have 2 ancient Egyptian beads. Small and not so perfect anymore, cand make out design. But had to have them..lol

That’s so cool! I think it’s either a bead or a piece of clay that was around a stick and the stick broke away and the clay piece formed like that 🤷‍♂️

Can you explain to me the fascination of beach glass? I know sooo many people that loose their minds over beach glass, and I think..."why?.... if you want beach glass, bust up a few bottles and throw it in your tumbler with grit and sand,... wait a week or two.. and voila'... beach glass...ALL you want!" what is the point?

Is it the same to break a bottle and tumble it? ..no lol Lake Superior tumbled it and it’s an adventure going out finding it. Not everyone needs to have the same fascination with everything though so it’s no biggy you don’t share it lol

Actually it’s really hard to get the same texture and finish from tumbling it. I believe Michigan rocks channel did an experiment on that, look it up!

It's like enjoying d beautiful scenery around n enjoying fishing. Someone may say why waste time fishing, when you can buy fish from d market. Everyone is unique. Enjoy whatever you're doing.
