You two are awesome!! So real and down to earth. I didn’t think that was a downer at all, speaking of the hazards of the profession. I was a career city firefighter for 20 years and talking about the inherent dangers is encouraged. It keeps you on your toes and from getting complacent. If anything, working in a dangerous profession encourages loved ones to not take for granted the precious time spent with family. On a different note, my oldest son (16) and I are planning to attend the NAAA convention in Savannah. I’m more focused on the firefighting side of the industry but hoping to network and learn as much as I can. Additionally, I’m excited to share with my son a totally different side of aviation! Hi Guys, what lovely videos, wow. When looking at the videos my thoughts goes back 50 years in time to the seventies. Yes I was a cropduster as well as forest fertilizing pilot in Sweden with a few seasons in Africa (Sudan) maily flying PA25, PA36 Brave and AG Cat with the PW1340 engine. In the later seventies I got a helicopter licence and was ag-flying with a Hughes 300B. After that I got into heavy helicopters Sikorsky 61N flying that machine 3 years in Greenland and 7 years in the Norweigan oil sector in the North Sea. Eventually I ended up in airline flying, first on turboprop and then jets like B727 and BAe 146 Avro. But looking back on my flying career, my most happier years was in the ag-flying business. The freedom, the REAL flying and the pride of being a professionel pilot that the farmer wanted back time and again, that was a wonderful life. The other day I booked an hour helicopter flying with instructor just to see if I could still fly one. My tears was almost running down me cheeks in happiness when, after a few minutes, when the instructor laid his arms across his chest and "your control, fly how you want". Can you imagine my happiness? Now I would like to fly an ag- plane as well before I get too old. Problem is where to find on, because they are extremely rare here in Europe. Maybe I have to go to the States to find one as well as a willing instructor for the old fart.

Thanks for the videos guys! So many great points! So far I've pretty much followed most of the points you've made in this video, and it's worked out really well. I didn't go to ag pilot school, but I traveled to IL from MD to load for corn run. That was a great experience. And that sure was a great way to get into the industry. The operator I worked for payed for my registration for the NAAA convention, so I'll be there in December. And he's going to let me fly an Air Tractor 301 for a bit this next season to start working into becoming an ag pilot. I know I still have a lot of work to do and a vast amount of knowledge I still need to learn. But I'm excited about the current track I'm on. Thanks again for everything you guys do for the industry though! People like you showed me that it IS possible to get into the industry if you're willing to work hard for it.

Been working at a major airline (33 yrs) ever since. Love your videos, great attitudes, fly safe! Maybe you should make a video on just the dangers, Like tree's fence's power lines phone line electric wire that has no reason for being 20' ft off the ground that go's to nothing ,animals and OWLS! that jump up out of the crop and end up in the cockpit (turned inside out) with you! fuel issues flailing around in the cockpit mad that the damn nozzles are plugged! the pump Don't turn!! and the mad farmer when you had a (WHEN IN DOUBT DUMP IT OUT!) moment on the wrong field due to a power issue! Here's a question for you. I typically clean the windshield on my Sundowner after every flight due to bugs. You are flying lower, and hitting alot more bugs that I do. Do you get the windshield cleaned every time you land, or just wait till the end of the day?

I have a question. Do you ever crop dust at night? I live in Yuma, AZ. Lettuce and vegetable capital of the world in the winter. There are a couple different crop dusting companies in town. They do most of their flying at night. I’m sure a lot has to do with whether they are applying herbicide or insecticide and what the label indicates.

Great video about the aerial agricultural application business and what model crop duster do you fly one of the Air-Tractor 802? There are aerial applicators flying a Bell Helicopters 407 and the Bell 412 which aircraft can you spray more acres with? I think you’re going spray more acres with the helicopter because you are mobilized 100% out there in the field you have everything that you need fuel and pesticides staying in your own self-contained trailer with living quarters during the summer months I have seen a Air-Tractor 802 two seat trainer that a friend of mine has that he is flying to train other pilots for firefighting training Do you know how many Air-Tractor two seater aircraft were built by Thrush or were they built by Air-Tractor? And how many two seater trainer aircraft were built? I’m looking into the crop dusting Drone this drone cost $650K with having the capabilities of using BVLOS software this is a very impressive Drone that’s built in Switzerland that is 100% autonomous that has a flying time of over 5 hours that is being used for doing inspections on high voltage transmission lines and pipelines we are in the negotiation process with the Drone company to be there first Agriculture Joint Partnership company in the United States and Canada
