Before siding with Tikal I deleted my whole base only keeping the TC. So Dos Pilas didn't have shit to defend against..I dont know if it was a legit way to do it tho😂😂

I think choosing Tikal is the 'honorable' decision. Chalakmul seem like jerks anyway. Also defending Tikal is the more challenging option :) The 'easier' way of doing this is to - reach Dos Pilas and instantly go for Food, Gold and advance to Castle Age. Once you do that, Purple starts attacking and research all the Castle age blacksmith techs. That has to be your focus at Dos Pilas. And i knew that the frigging scenario will take all your units and buildings and you will loose Dos Pilas and we have to start over. But in this case, the scenario gives you 2 minutes to move your ass out of Dos Pilas. So while the timer was running, i deleted the towncenter of Dos Pilas, just 5 seconds before the timer expired! And once you loose everything and we move to our new town center, the stupid scenario thinks that we destroyed Dos Pilas and gives the city back to us! This makes it way more straightforward. You dont have to take on both Yellow and Purple at the same time! If the scenario screws with us by taking all our units and resources, i too will screw with it! haha! Then it was a battle between us and Red and Calakmul. The Calakmul camp is HUGE, we really need to get past so many gates, castles to reach the wonder. With 60 Elite Plumed Archers, Skirmishers, few Eagles and Trebs its not an issue. But still very very very very annoying! Glad this was over! Now onto Tours!

I was trying play everything in a chronological order... everything was perfect until this mission! 🤦‍♂️😅

Played this for the first time today. Went in not knowing what was supposed to happen. Defended the attacks by putting up a bunch of towers and castle. Never got the option to pick a side. Then went around killing everything waiting for another trigger while purple continuously splattered against me. Eventually just set everyone to enemy and defeated them all. But purple has continuously spawning units... So... Had to exit having wasted my life. The only objective was to defend my town centre. and I was punished for doing just that. Sigh

The key is to funnel the enemy around to the north of Dos Pillas. Wall off the southern part with houses and palisades to the edge of the map. Don't fight the massive army. Just let them in when they arrive. But delay going up to the castle age as long as you can because they only trigger to attack when you either do that or after 20 mins game time. Directly east of Dos Pillas there is a large stone mine. Send villages there to gather all of it asap. You should be able to get one castles worth before you have to side with either Tikal or Calakmul. Always pick Calakmul lol. Place a castle directly north of your city outside the walls as well as one inside the eastern wall and go heavy into Eagle Warriors to deal with any siege units. Meanwhile you want to clear out the western village of any enemies so you can trade there. You have to do this pretty much with trash units in order to save money for Eagles but it's totally doable. Once trade is up and running you have no more gold concerns and can just push out with Elite Eagles and Elite Plumed Archers Took me a couple turns but it works well.

I cheated my way through this one lol, sub 40 mins in game, here's how: As soon as you capture Dos Pilas, send 5 villagers to collect stone from the tile on the south of your base, once they finish with that one, take them to the east of Dos Pilas, to gather the other stone tiles. While those are gathering stone, boom your economy. Send 8 villagers with your leftover army from the beggining to Tikal and set up a lumberjack right next to their wonder. Use 1 or 2 vills to wall up as somehow the purple follows you to Tikal. Focus on making enough space for a Castle to be dropped there. Once you have enough space, click on Castle age. When you arrive to Castle age, delete the lumberjack and build 2 castles with 4 vills each while you construct a university at Dos Pilas to research Murder Holes. Once you finish building the castles, train petards, you should be able to have 5-10 right next to the wonder. Now you just wait until purple takes out Dos Pilas, you side with him and insta kill Tikal's wonder. Easy win.

Just did this earlier on Hard, sided with Calakmuk. Here is my strategy: 1. Send villagers to mine the stone mine east of Dos Pilas asap (but don't neglect food) so you can make castles quick. 2. Around the time that Calakmuk sends his big army, advance to castle age. Let Calakmuk's army damage your TC to trigger the choice. Delay the choice until the very end, to collect more resources, amass a small defensive army (eagle warriors and skirmishers worked good for me), and completely mine that stone mine before you have to fight off anyone. When timer is almost done, pick Calakmuk. 3. Around this time, build a castle inside your base near eastern entrance, and another near the north. Make sure to close up your walls if any get broken. With this setup you can defend against the attacks from blue, red, and orange, provided you keep a defense force of infantry to deal with rams and later trebuchets. But it is very manageable. Make sure to get the gold and stone mines in the bandit place in the south, and you will be set. An attack force of fully upgraded eagle warriors, skirmishers, plume archers and trebuchets will be enough to defeat the enemies.

This mission was the easiest mission for me. I did it both ways. You simply spent all of your gold and wood in useless Arbs. You didn’t sell some gold for building a castle asap. So you lost quite some times in garrisoning Villagers in the town centre. Then you also went for useless Siege rams. And you do not actually build up any defensive building. With some good strategy you could have won it way before.

A few tricks to help those. Before you have to make the decision of who to side with. Sell everything, buy all the stone you can. Drop two castles (realistically what you can afford) don't build them. Then get ALL your villagers safe. 5 seconds before time is up, delete the town center. Walk into the allied town and boom your reclaim your town center and all your original villagers.

Once you know what to do this mission is quite easy: don't go up to Castle Age (at some point it's done automatically for you, no resources wasted on this), take stone near the blue village, choose Chalakmul side, put up 2 defensive castles and take out blue asap. Only then go for the raiders, bandit camp and the fortress. And you will see: there is actually a lot of gold on the map.

I assume a trigger was bugged and wouldn't work, and that's why it wouldn't work?

I noticed something. Ornlu NEVER trades. He even says that top right village Is solely for trade. But never made any carts. I beat this level easily when it didn't bug by just trading with them. About 10 carts is all you really need. Each trip is like 30 gold. Ahh he got to it later on. That nulls what I said haha.

One of the hardest scenario. I sided purple. Tikal always know where I am and if I wall my south entrance with a castle, they go north. Doesn't help that there were not alot of gold mines available and my troops mainly spend defending at the start. Thought I was formidable with defense with 1 Archer garrison castle at both north and south. Until Tikal just came in with trebs. And the AI was insanely smart. They just stay out of my castle range. Only after I got the relic and slowly took down the raiders that I managed to gain some traction. Doesn't help that I couldn't build trash Calvary to take down siege units. Eventually I just created a bunch of pikeman just to ambush the Rams and trebs. Only after taking down all raiders and rescuing the ally so I had market then I managed to start on the offensive. Just had to make sure I had a good food and wood economy as I mainly rely on pikes and skirms and occasionally some 2hs since gold is quite hard to find at the start

what? Whenever is try to play that mission purple just rolls me with 20 siege units and 60+ units at minute 20/castle age whatever happens first. He just runs my base over and kills my tc and the mission is lost. How do i get the trigger to roll? Oh and green never attacked me either. tried this like 5 times

Is it a DE bug? I bought HD recently and played it siding with Tikal and it was fine.

I thought this was doable without siding with anyone. The timer expires and you're on your own, or is it broken in DE? I'll try it again soon :D

You are not the only one with bugged achievements. Dont worry. i got the same bug with Saldin 6 and Barbarossa 1.

Guys i don't understand what i should do, when i run into dos pilas, purple soldiers were kept spawning, nothing more. And i fight against them. İs it just a bug or what?

I just had a rude awakening with this mission so I decided to see what others have done. After reading the comments and some other posts, I'm not sure I even want to do this mission. The only way to complete it the way we want is to use a cheese strategy, which I don't like. Clearly, we are meant to choose a side for this scenario, but being forced to submit is not something any AoE player likes. We either want to conquer all or choose our own allies. This mission isn't exactly bad; It's just a bitter pill to swallow if we agree to play it as it was designed.

In my playthrough to this mission calakmul attacks me and I have to choose a side without going to castle age. So I don't have time to prepare and I get overrun by 3 enemies in no time. WTF? Is that a bug in my game? Also I see they do not attack you at all. They attack me some minutes after I run at the town.

I just finished this mission. I took the side of Tikal. For the first 20 minutes I was under attack and it was hard. Then I built 2 castles in my base and things became easier. I took back Dos Pilas and I started the siege. I did not know that I had to just destroy the wonder to win so I started to destroy all the buildings of Calakmul. It's so funny when you see that they have jaguar warriors. So your arbalest are crushed by eagle warriors and your shitty sword men are crush by the jaguar. It's also funny to see that the mighty city for wich you fight doesn't even help you. Calakmul is so agressive in the beginning and then, well guys let's start to smoke weed and relax. For the wonders in real life, there is the Bran castle in the 2th mission of Dracula

There's a secret army of local villagers jaguar warriors just north of the game starting point. When you approach them, they disappear. Does anyone know what that's about?

This mission is dumb, I built a set of impenetrable defenses with mangonels and castles and the units kept spawning , I was still strong enough to destroy purple but the game didn't end, I figured out what you had to do and sided with purple because I did not want to recapture my base after I used up all the resources on the map and got spies lol

Man.... I had to try this level at least.... 2 times. I picked the Red side and it was so much fun and hard, the only thing i kept our town safe is go max DEFENSE, built 3 Castles, lol.

I found a "chessy solution" for this mission.Try to locate stone mines (east of Dos Pilas) and send 4 of 5 villagers there.Then,If you are quick enough, you should be able to build triple wall and 5 or 6 guard towers (make sure you fully garrison them with archers or a cheaper solution,villagers) for defending against those massive and constant talakmul attacks.Trust me ,triple wall (with Castle Age upgrade) and 5 or 6 fully garrisoned guard towers will be enough to permanently defend against Talakmul(even against their Rams and Mangonels).With your back secured you just need to atack undefended Calakmul base,and after you completely wiped them "surrender" and easy win

1 TC only + lack of gold + multiple fronts and enemies which can recruit trebs. This scenario sucks. Siding with Calakmul is more difficult because if you side with Tikal you inherit the town to the east and it takes away one enemy you have to otherwise fight. If you stay loyal and immediately rush and destroy Dos Pilas' TC, you're in a better position early on. I found the scenario easier doing it this way.

The fact you left that little gap in your stone open like forever allowing so many incursions straight to your tc n vills was so aggravating, just buy 1 thing of stone n plug the whole for the love of god.

Tried this scenario yesterday Got crushed by purple Decided to be faith ful to Tikal Took forever to go to blue base... once there dos pilas advanced to Castle age Then purple over ran red... at the end of the day I got crushed by purple, red and yellow Yahoo Now I’m here trying to see how to beat this at least on moderate

I sided with Tikal and had no issues but this video is old so they probably fixed it some time after

I sided with Calakmul and it went smoothly without bugs. That was very last one scenario I was playing for the first time, now it's time to polish medals to gold ^^

My defenses were way too strong for Cakakmul to breach. have killed 940 of their mens so far ..... 🤭 So i have to delete my lone castle in the city to let them enter to Dos Pilos to activate next trigger ..... 🤦‍♂️

Why don't you have acess to Trebuchets. Why that's obvious. The mayans didn't have access to them at that time. :)
