Oh! I did a little research and found this level is broken on any difficulty OTHER than hardest. For some reason, on hardest they don't aggro the priest, but on the other difficulties (including Standard) they flip out and murder your priest. I was able to get around this with a ton of tiptoeing, but that means that you grow so slowly that you cannot get forces up fast enough to defend your base before red and yellow start fighting with you in the middle.

When you play on easier difficulty, you can go straight up to red and take over (you need a lot of good micro tho). But yeah, this mission is very broken, just like the first mission in the Reign of the Hittites campaign. If you don't want to spend too much time on this one, just abuse the save/load.

I found this video and the comments saying the mission is broken below hardest after several failed attempts with differing strategies on standard. Just beat the mission first try on hardest now thanks to this video and the comments. Took me almost four hours and the map was virtually scraped for resources lmao. Got the achievement for exploring every area of a map too

I just finished Holy Man today, after a week of just trying to get a foothold. I started my village in the extreme Northeast near the water. Yellow built a dock, and every time a yellow scout ship appeared, "Wololo!", If the conversion worked, I saved the game. If priest got killed, I restarted from previous save. I got 6 ships converted, and this gave me enough firepower to fight off attacks from yellow (and then red) while building up my economy. I also set up a dock near the yellow one and traded food for gold. From there, Yellow was easy to destroy. Red became a war of attrition. I built 6 towers to the left of the river crossing (like 26:00), and let red keep attacking. I picked them off with chariots and chariot archers. In total I had 1300+ kills for this one scenario. It is scary how far I followed this one religious fanatic.

You are a brave soul just for attempting this mission without walling the river path. Ships are a great alternative, you got a good range and you can retreat in a dime. I went straight up for the classic frontal assault backed by a strong economy and a lot of unit producing buildings. I think that your techique could be more efficient than mine depending on your micro and the way you used your towers.

Just made it a couple of times on moderate. 1) seal the water pass. Add 2 towers 2) seal bottom resources on the vest coast to starve the enemy from wood and stone. Add the rest of the towers.

I'm so confused... every time I start converting a villager, every villager in the vicinty goes after my priest, and yet you clearly are just walking through and taking their whole tribe. Am I missing something?

This mission is super broken, the villagers will swarm you in easier difficulty and leave you alone when you play on harder difficulty, very weird.

cool video. i just finished holy man hardest myself and was curious how other people did it. we used pretty much the same strategy. i did build a lil higher up near the stone to begin with and i used archer chariots and catapults instead of melee chariots. but the resource control and building towers up into booty was the same for me

Succeeded in easy by following this video. Convert yellow workers at limit of sight, flee right after and slow angry yellow workers with your already converted workers. Build a wall ASAP (first houses, then bricks) with towers in second line, mine and save rocks. Use a transport ship to drop all workers where the holy man starts, and place tower after tower + mine resource on red's territory until everyone dies.

I tried to Choke the akkadians out by building the TC on theird TC then blocking every entrance with a house but hte Sumerians then attacked me with everything they had after the 10'th minute and I barely just got to the tool age XD Interesting build order.

I selected Easy mode and still cant beat this fucking mission lol. I killed yellow with composite bowman, guarded the river with war galleys and offered tough fight to red but got starved out of gold. Even early on, by the time i get to tool age, even yellow has some upgraded clubmen and bowmen ready to kill me not to mention red comes with chariots while I have just 3 bowmen or so.

This mission is broken, even on easy mode. You have to block the river path or you're done.

@@THEZOD Yeah. Did the same after watching your video. Finally did it on moderate difficulty. If those axemen and slingers are kept at bay, we can have an easier time in bronze age with galleys and chariots.
