I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking the art looks AI-generated. So far, the dev team claims that it's human-made, which is questionable due to many mistakes in the Bastet art that no competent artist would make, and they don't have the AI art label on Steam that they'd be required to have either. All this means that if the art is indeed AI-generated and they either lied about it or didn't know, it would be a big controversy.

Using ai is not the wrong thing if only here is a human, who may be the art director, amending those unnatural feelings. But sure, no excuse for man's incompetence if you use ai or not. A good game is made by skill and time.

@@user-os7dw3tr6v I saw a lot of attempts at taking AI art as a basis, then fixing it as you say. No matter how much problems they spotted and resolved, it still looked like AI art to me. And my own art skills are at the level of 10 year old x] Is that not just more effort than making it by hand?

To me it doesn't immediately look AI generated but it gives me the feel of mobile game art, which is most certainly AI generated, and so by transitivity, I also think it's probably AI generated.

@@Enkelados35 Definitely gives off a mobile game ad vibe. If you told me the gods at 0:58 were the Atlantean major gods, I'd immediately think that might be from a free to play age of mythology game where Kronos took Gaia's nose.

Narrated by a hero which you have to pay for 100 chests to acquire random chance of shards to unlock said hero then 500 more chests to acquire more random chance of shards to upgrade them. You can get it for free though, you get one free chest with random chance of shards per day!! Lol

Well, in the Fall of the Trident campaign, Theris is dead right from the start if I'm not mistaken, and he appears only in a dream. Unless they included him in some remade scenarios. So I don't know why they put that line at the end of the tutorial.

This is looking like an UE5 and AI generated phone game. I really hope they didn't screw with the balance too much. Most the fun of AoM is that you can have zany armies of broken units clashing against each other trying to out cheese each other.

Petsuchos is related to Sobek thats why. It makes sense lore wise. Hathor giving the Petsuchos made 0 sense.

I grew up with AoM and played it since I was like 9 and watched my brother play too. It is one of my all time favourite games. Honestly the remake doesn't look bad, but it doesn't throw me off my chair either. I would need to play it myself or see more to get a real impression of it.

I don't understand why they made just one scenario as a tutorial when there were 3 perfectly playable ones teaching you RTS mechanics, macro and the specific unique mechanics in Aom compared to other rts games by the last scenario. The Theris thing is also interesting to where they take that concept.

mutilplyer is attack times x(7 in this case) vs myth units it's just like the multipliers from aoe 3

The art indeed looks AI generated, or just very generic... Much preferred if they kept the og art for the gods as it looks more unique. The sound mixing on those cutscenes is a absolute mess but that will prob be fixed. It sounds like all the og voice acting (at least for story mode) is getting replaced, judging by Athena's voice they might be going for a Greek accent, it's fitting but well see how that goes... The game itself looks fine tho, time will tell. "Did Theris manage to escape? To find out play the main campaign!" Brothers... that line came straight out of mobile pay to progress kinda game....

@@mryes413 I don't think they will tie in Theris unless it's some future campaign that is a prequel to Fall of the Trident. From the lore, I think Kamos replaces Theris's role as a leader/captain of the Pirates that are attacking Atlantis, that's about it.

im happy with what im seeing so far from the game, besides the arkantos boost covering the units a bit too much the graphics are amazing and qol options are really nice tho i dont think i will ever use autoque. i wont be watching the campaign since i dont wanna spoil myself until i can play it myself

It's $30 on Steam (maybe different depending on where you live). Full disclosure - I did get access to this for free to make content. Not a bad price though for an actual remaster imo

AOM is my favorite of the franchise, but this doesn't look good for me. All aoe remakes had new civs,but we a stuck we the old 4 that were 20 years ago,we didn't even get China rebalanced

Not a fan of the new graphics. Colors don't seem right (don't know the words to describe it), the hotkeys I was used to in AoM didn't work out of the box, the dialogues het cut off towards the end and the UI in general seems like a step back. Plus ot doesnt seem as though they re-did the sprites the way they did it for AoE II DE. AoE2 DE still feels newer than AoM Retold.

The cutting off conversation is probably a bug with the devs not taking into account the timer changes since that's how you keep track when the next line has to come in.

The only major gods artworks that I REALLY dislike are Zeus & Kronos. (Hades for instance, in my opinion, looks better than his old artwork. The appearance of his bident is a nice touch too) The former , Zeus, just looks WEIRD. His hair is an obsidian gray while his beard is snow facking white. The two colours don't really complement each other at all and it completey draws your attention away from his actual face. His robe also, from afar, makes him looks like he's got a beer belly when in reality they're hanging off him and he's ripped af. Its the only artwork so far that feels like a total miss and could genuinely be AI generated The latter, Kronos, honestly just looks LAME compared to the original. The original looked like a straight up DEMON. Which is fitting for the overarching antagonist of the entire game. But here looks like a generic golem or giant. If you were to show me that design with no context I would NEVER be able to tell that was supposed to be the King of the Titans, Father of the Olympians and the avatar of Time.

I think visually it looks a lot like the original but some things like the UI make it look weird. Colours might also be different im not quite sure.

No 2d ground texture for fallen units again.... just sink into the ground and are gone. Is it really pandering to the "we-cannot-show-bones-or-bood" chinese weirdos, or are the devs just too lazy ?

The UI, the god portraits, and the voice acting in the campaign are clear downgrades to the original.

Art looks terrible, VA sounds terrible, they're putting downgraded versions of classic portraits behind a paywall, and auto-macro might kill competitive even more than auto-queue did back in the day. Microslop managed to make Reforged look good.

And how did Autoqueue kill competitive when it allowed for Set to be mained by most players? Stalemates were not settled on babysitting your production structures and had meaningful element to not just win battles but to keep probing and opening new fronts in a big frontline.
