She’s not lying. I grow an inch a month. I keep my hair in cornrows 3-4 months. Wash my hair once a month and deep condition while in braids. Everyday I put some type nourishing serum in my hair. I mix different things that are natural but I also use minoxidil. When I am ready to take my hair out I saturate it with oil glycerin and aloe Vera. No breakage. I wash and deep condition in twists and it gets re- braided. I do inverted scalp massages. My hair is so long and thick and at 42 yo my hair has never been like this

I want to do this but I go to a PWI🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ I’ve been wrapping my hair for a while now and I just want to leave my hair in braids while I have my hair wrapped but I always feared that if I do that, my braids would be poking out.

@@wherethequietbeingsgoI went to a pwi 3 years ago and that’s when I finally felt “free” enough to just wear twist every day, I retained a lot of length. You’re paying to be there, you should be able to wear your hair however(if that’s what you’re afraid of)

She giving yall the secrets better listen up. I'm waist length too & this is what I do. I wear passion twists or braids for 3 months at a time & wash my hair in those protective styles 1x per month , re-twist or re-braid only the front visible row & keep rocking them. Do a complete takedown at the end of those 3 months and immediately put the style back in & do it again.

How do you keep your hair from drying out and matting up? I’ve done this and reached bra strap length, but my hair was too dry and brittle!
@amytarie.
@amytarie. 4 ай бұрын
@@MahoganieBeautie It's always dry after takedown b/c of the edge control / harder products built up ( for me anyway ) so before installing the style you can just moisturize your hair w/ leave in conditioner & after take down pre-poo BEFORE washing it as to NOT have over excessive hair shed.

Years ago, I've done the cornrows as a protective style left in for 3 months at a time and washed and conditioned my hair with the cornrows in. I used Softee aloe vera curl activator as my "moisturizer." I did this for 6 months during the spring and summer months when hair grows the fastest. I wore wigs during that time. My hair grew long. (It's now at almost tailbone length after clipping the ends, and I have my hair tucked away in 4 platts.). Thanks for sharing, CD🎉

Usually don't comment but I found you on Jan. 8th and my hair has been flourishing 🙌 In this busy last few years I've neglected my hair so much, keeping in small knotless braids and sew ins and never really taking care of my hair underneath. Rough stylists thinned out my hair and edges while I was growing out the texturizer I put in my hair from 2022 (thankfully those straight ends are all gone now) Needless to say, you're the first person I found with this simple routine to bring my hair back to health by leaving it alone and learning how to properly moisturize. Now I keep coming back for these reminders and to stay motivated on this journey. I've been keeping flat twists under wigs but I've taken them down at least once a week because I'm just so happy to see my hair in better shape 😅 Goal is trying to keep cornrows in for the whole month of February! Thank you so much for putting out these messages.

Thank you for this. Been natural for over a decade. Been told that natural hair is “so versatile” and there’s “so much you can do!!” Which yes is true… But what those people don’t mention is by doing the most and changing your hair all the time, that is all a lot of manipulation. I have high shrinkage, very tightly coiled 4C hair. Constant manipulation just doesn’t lead to hair growth for me. Even if I’m using good products. My hair will tangle more and break. These days I am doing a similar routine. I don’t know how to cornrow but I put my hair in small braids. I undo the braids to wash and condition once a month. I then blow dry using my Revair and then I immediately moisturize and rebraid. My hair is kept in these braids until the next wash day. And I have been wearing wigs to cover them. After several months of this, it has decreased tangling and lead to much more length retention. It does indeed feel like a sacrifice. When I first went natural I fell in love with all the different styles you can do and the look of fros. But over a decade later I still do not have long hair, which frustrates me. I’ve come to realize that I simply don’t like how short hair looks on me.😭And I’m TIRED of settling for short hair. I want my hair to grow. I want long hair!!! I have NEVER had long hair before in my life, even as a kid. Even when relaxed. It has ALWAYS been short. So yes, having long hair would mean a lot. And I’m facing the reality that in order for my hair to grow, I have to essentially leave it alone majority of the time. No playing around with twist outs and braid outs every week. There’s just no way around that. I have to make the sacrifice. My hair is too delicate to thrive otherwise.

OMG!!!! I had to undo my hair for my dad's funeral on the 20th of April. I couldn't believe it😮 my hair was down to my chin when I started . Now, it's slightly touching my chest. OMG!! I am so excited. Right after the funeral that evening my hair was back in cornrows 😊 I have a three year plan to grow my hair down to my breast. Again , thank you for making this straightforward and simple.

I just came across your channel on my feed today and I subscribed as soon as I watched this video of this powerful hair growth strategy. I am so motivated at its simplicity. Currently in small single stranded twists and putting a wig on every morning when I leave the house. My hair has thinned out so much from breakage and my edges are pretty much non-existent. Makes me sad. I’ve been moisturizing my edges with oils daily since January to grow them back and started doing protein treatments on my last wash day two weeks ago. I was going to take my twists down for my next wash day and re-twist them afterwards but I’m going to stick with your strategy and wash my hair with the twists every month until month 3! Thank you so much for these amazing tips! ❤ God bless you 🙏🏽.

Twists don’t last as long as braids and once washed, especially mini twists the take down can be very tedious. Just a caution. I have done a video how I unravel my dry mini twists post wash. Might be helpful. Otherwise do braids or take down the twists earlier and re- install
@ChiChiN248

@@CoilyDiaries Thank you for those details. Yeah I was in a hurry when I did my last wash so it was just easier and faster to do the twists, otherwise the plan was cornrows. But you are right, twists don’t last as long. They are pretty rough now because I’ve been oiling and massaging my scalp every night. They look like mini twists because my hair has gotten extremely thin so I don’t have a lot of hair hence no volume and by default they look like mini twists. I only have about 16-18 twists total lol 😂. But I’m washing my hair tomorrow so I’ll do cornrows this time. Or do you think I should do the cornrows without washing it now and wait another two weeks since I washed it two weeks ago?

Awesome! I have heard of this cornrow technique, but never broken down in the way you did it here. I'm already at waist length, but not all my my hair is that same length. I use bleach, so I have had a few setbacks the past year that left me at the same length. But I want something different now to keep the ends tucked and no longer breaking off. I am going to already be doing more protein treatments this year and also back to deep conditioning. I have been slacking on that for a bit. Thank you!

So glad others will consider the method. I have heard of others having success with this minimalist and super low manipulation approach. I wish you all success in reaching your hair dreams 💓✨ I wish I could get braids, but the truth is that I have serious dandruff. Going 1 week without thoroughly scrubbing my scalp, is very hard! the dandruff and scales on my scalp just in one week are serious. It's not possible for me to wash thoroughly with my hair braided because of the amount of scrubbing I have to do. This is why I don't spend time or money on braids, I would last 1 week before they were ruined from the scrubbing that I have to do to clean my scalp sufficiently. Washing gently would do nothing for me, and might make the dandruff worse. Probably would have a skin infection if I actually tried this for a few weeks😅. I wash my hair every 3-4 days. I have tried so much over the years to at least EXTEND the amount of time between washes and nothing has worked. the latest has been fenugreek, infused in oil, I also tried it as tea that I used on my scalp.

Hair expands when being washed. What are you putting in your hair that has residue? Sounds strange. I always wash my hair in yarn braids and it gets properly cleaned. I let it dry in the yarn so it is stretched before I can attend to it.

Lets just say i was loudly hated for having hair when i did go to work with my hair out for a day or two.😂😂😂 My hair was to the middle of my back before chemo. But it has grown back since, its thicker and well on its way. Before i did the same stuff but with braids in my hair. I will say it works very well. Ive had to tell people who ask me how i do it and i tell them what i do but they go back to being too concerned about new hairstyles, sew ins and glued down wigs. I cant help them if they dont at least stick to getting braids that dont have their scalp in the braid too.

I was getting really sad wearing my twists/braids in these not so pretty styles for 3 months (washing my hair in the same style too to avoid detangle) . I only felt prettyish covering the frizz with a scarf. But once I took it all down I could NOT BELIEVE the thickness I had and felt in love with my hair all over again. I realized I just need to have more variety so now I opped for wearing glueless wigs with a scarf to cover the lace. I feel so much better. Knotless braids are so pretty but I tried that route. It's expensive you can't trust somebody else detangling your hair gently (my mistake I lost so much density) yes I did straighten before going the next times I went but I realized the weight from the synthetic hair that braided into my scalp was causing issues for my lifestyle.

I'm definitely going to try this method because I Feel like my hair thrives when it is left alone. For years before my locs it was so hard to grow my hair properly. Dreads caused my hair to grow, and even when combing them out, I find my hair is wayyy softer and healthier than its ever been my whole life. I want to maintain this and grow it even longer. Im definately going to be giving this a try!

I have fine hair and I’m sceptical about washing it in cornrows. It’s very likely there will be some build up after 3 months and my hair just cannot withstand build up, no matter how careful I am with it. We need a fine hair girlie to report back after trying it 😅

@luvfeelinpretty I have fine, kinky textured hair. If you have fine, looser textured hair, you may be fine. But if it’s kinky like mine, don’t wash your hair in corn rows, or any protective style for that matter. You WILL have a matted, tangled mess. 😅 Been there and I’m still traumatized! 😆 I’m doing this challenge all year, Lord willing, but I’m keeping my scalp clean with tea tree, rosemary and MSM spritz. I will wash thoroughly every 3 months.

I have fine hair and have washed in cornrows. I’m at bra strap length. I usually will keep it in for a month or a month and a half, washing every other week. There was some matting and it is tedious to take down, but the growth SO WORTH IT LOL. Tried something different last time and did the take down on on freshly washed hair instead of taking it down and then washing and found it to be a lot easier. That being said I don’t know how I feel about going a whole 3 months, that scares me. Maybe I’ll stick with every six weeks. I’ll aim for two months and see how it goes. Best of luck to everyone and happy growing. 😊 Also, I like the idea of re-doing each cornrow as you take it down instead of undoing your entire head all at once. Thank you so much for the video, keep ‘em coming ❤️

Welcome to the channel ❤️! Why do you think the breakage is happening though? How long do you leave the styles in and is your takedown gentle?
@MissK536
@MissK536 Ай бұрын
Thank you for your reply! To answer your question, I only keep it for 4 weeks at a time and sometimes 6 weeks then it looks bad, so I take the hair down and pay someone to another crochet! but I only moisturize once a week or 2 weeks which is not often enough! As I'm texting this, I just take down my crochet and I'm really taking my time! I realize the takedown has not been a gentle one that's why I'm taking my time; I will do plaits and twist the end just until I get someone to do the cornrow! I'm not very good at cornrow! Another reason, I think its breaking is stress, being peri-menopausal with the changing in the body hormones, and of course juggling kids and husband, jobs etc..., I really have not been taking good care of myself, which starts now! I have taken some initiative to decrease my overall stress; Is there any vitamins you recommend helping with the hair growth and strenght?

I kinda have the same routine. Difference being I have my wash day then put my hair in minibraids for two months. I picked minibraids because with them I can more easily access my scalp and "more" of my hair. I rinse my scalp weekly with an ACV rinse and then apply oil on it, because I used to have a dry scalp, and this has helped me a lot with this issue. I moisturize my hair when needed throughout the week. I started this routine back in October 2023 with armpit-length hair and my hair is already brastrap! It's insane even when I think about it. I plan to keep this routine till dcember 2026, when reaching waist length.
