1. Darwin. It should be able to explore many possibilities, via variation and selection.
2. Turing. It should have the widest set of possibilities and opportunities. It should be able to think anything that is thinkable. Compute anything computable.
3. Darwin. Having found a new and good idea or theory, it should be possible to use it to improve how it searches. It should be able to engage in variation and selection in new ways.

I've got hold of another part of this mysterious elephant; the part Steven Mithen is explaining in his new book. Perhaps our conceptual paths will cross someday! It’s proving to be a great read, BTW.
