I live outside of Lexington Kentucky where lex brewing is at. I can tell you bourbon barrel used to be good it’s not anymore. As for vanilla it’s ok to sweet. Red ale is good and the coffee one is good to.

sounds extremely average, ever liquor store craft beer aisle has atleast a dozen of these from different brands with the exact same flavors and strength shit it almost as common as budweiser

It's made in Tennessee and bottled in ky used to pick it up and haul it to Lexington.

@@Kona_AJ I worked for Ballard and used to pick it up in a tanker in Memphis Tenn and take it to altech and unload it where they would put it in barrels then bottle it. Used to do that shitty run a couple times a month.

Many of their flavored versions are nice too. They have a peppermint flavor that's Chrismas-ly delicious.

I would have to respectfully disagree. The pumpkin was trash, peppermint is weird. They hit the nail on the head with the regular and vanilla cream...

@Daniel Gigandet Yeah, it was a huge let down for me. I bought a box of 4 @ $18 each for a Halloween party and it was a big let down considering the other brews they have. To your point, should have tried it first. Haha

I've tried this and it's honestly the best beer I've ever had. It's much bolder than other beers, and the whiskey flavor makes it stand out.

Innis & Gunn makes a whiskey barrel aged beer but the Caribbean rum cask aged one from them is TO DIE FOR.

I live 25 minutes from where they make this, and they actually make a vanilla one that is absolutely delicious it almost tastes like a boozy cream soda it's absolutely amazing

You oughta try Dragon's milk! It's a stout that's aged in bourbon barrels, and they have a white stout that's the same and even better!(lower % though)

There are SO MUCH beers aged in bourbon barrels (whiskey, rum, wine as well) in the craft beer industry (especially barleywines and stouts) across Northern America and Europe.

Boulevard Brewing Co. out of Kansas City has one of these- the Bourbon Barrel Quad (a cute nod to the city's BBQ fame). Says some of their age up to 3 years in bourbon barrels, with light cherry notes coming through as a result of the brewing and blending process they use, though it's primarily vanilla and toffee notes. It's a strong one too, 12.2% ABV!

Its a really good beer. I recommend drinking it out of a glass and not the bottle. A bar and grill i go to has it on tap.

I had a cider that was stored in whiskey casks. The sour sweetness of the cider with the notes of whiskey made it taste like a pint of whiskey sour.

I can confirm this stuff is good. Every year at Beerfest in Sheboygan Wi there is a brewery with it. Pounding a few glasses will have anyone drunk in no time.

As a Dutchman with easy access to really great Dutch, Belgian and German (barrell aged) craft beers and abbey beers - Barrell aged beers, especially darker styles like 'dubbel', 'quadrupel', 'Bock', 'christman beer' and one of my favorites 'ijsbock' are definately recommended

So I’ve used this beer in chili for over 5 years now and I’ve tried other beers in the same recipe, it is so beyond delicious. Bonus it has a nice bourbon smell in the house while you are making it. So good

There is this company called Dragon's Milk that makes their beer in Whiskey barrel. There is also a brand called Whiskey morning coffee that roasts coffee with Whiskey oak.

Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Vanilla Ale is also a very well done beer! Obviously a bit more of a vanilla taste, a bit less of an ABV%, but it's definitely a damn good one also.

They also have special reserve releases this time of year. This year, it is aged with Bourbon, Graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallow.

@Saint_Spike Right! It's so smooth that it has the big chocolate flavor mixed with the Bourbon. It reminds me of Irish Death from Iron Horse Brewery out of Ellensburg.

Something similar, Desperados, many different flavours beer brewed in a tequila barrel with an added shot. 5.9% Abv and my favourite.

You've got to try Innis & Gunn's 'The Original' or 'Blood Sky'. Believe they're finished in similar ways.

You should possibly try some different bourbon aged ciders. I prefer those even more to the bourbon aged beers because of how much more pronounced the aging is in a lighter/brighter alcohol.

You should try Dragon's Milk from New Holland Brewery! It's a barrel aged stout that is very dark and smoky, but sweet at the same time!

I work at a Dutch brewery called Jopen. We put beet in bourbon barrels all the time. Not even only bourbon barrels tho, like a crap load of different barrels lol.

I can tell he's more of a Bourbon guy because he sounds amazed about Barrell aging 😂 I can confirm, though, that barrell aged beers are simply the best. My personal favorite barrell aged was in a brandy barrell, though

Lexington brewing is really really good stuff. Had a tour of the facility. Funny enough, they have their distillery next door to their brewery. Town Branch is the distillery. All of their whiskey is really good too.

Myself and a buddy have been doing dark ale in Old Elk bourbon barrels for a couple of years. Each batch has a bottle of old Elk mixed with it

Up here in WA state they do some clever stuff with hard cider (on account of Washington apples being what they are) and bourbon barrel cider is the shit if the bourbon flavor comes through strong enough.

My dad's mate made something like this. The vanilla flavour gave it, as you said, an almost desserty flavour like white chocolate which paired perdectly with the smoky oaky bourbon flavour... he had to shut down the brewey so there's very little of it left, glad to know there's others like it out there!

Darkhorse brewery makes a bourbon barrel stout that puts all others to shame. It's called, Plead the Fifth, and it is amazing!

Innis and Gunn made a run of 4 or so types of beer aged in different spirit casks, they were pretty great for the most part (except for whichever one was aged in a rum cask, I couldn't stand that one). I hope these were on the same level.

As a Dutch guy I just have to tell you that you need to taste it from a proper glass that is the right one for stronger beers. The flavours will be better developed as it gets more oxygen. Still a very cool video tho, I like the content! :)

The vanilla cream ale taste like cream soda the pumpkin one was excellent and their coffee Stout is really really good every once in awhile they make an Old Fashioned that's 10% and is awesome

Thistly Cross in Edinburgh - Scotland, have aged a cider in whisky barrels. Its beautiful and around 8 or 9% a bottle, doesn't take long to get a buzz going

There’s a brewery near me that does an imperial stout aged is Islay Scotch barrels and it is possibly the most amazing thing I’ve ever gotten to drink.

It's better when it's a stout or high test Belgian ale. Try dropping half a shot of a decent bourbon into a beer to get a similar flavor.

You should try Dragon's Milk by New Holland Brewing. It's a Bourbon Barrel aged Stout that is amazing. It's also 11% ABV so it's got a nice punch to it.

I work for a company that started no coast and they have a beer similar to this thats called "collaborator" and its phenomenal if you want to give it a try! Also "smokey row coast" is a coffee porter that's also really good!
