I have a GE washer with an agitator. But I use the Easy Care cycle, which means that the agitator speed is set to low, and the spin speed is set to high. This is much gentler on clothes in my experience, but still does an excellent job of getting the clothes clean.

I'd say front load washers are the best at cleaning, better than any other type, for sure. However, he's basically saying, if you want ur clothes clean, get the agitator. Todays washing machines with agitators are not even 30% as effective as machines from 10 years ago. All the new ones do, is spin way more at the end, which technically does get rid of most stuff that needs a helping hand being forced out. Ive noticed agitator machines now, are not rough at all. Impeller machines, suck, tbh. Also, if you have a machine with an agitator and want to preserve specific clothes, use the delicate mode. It pretty much eliminates the agitator anyway. So why not have the option to actually clean? The only slight benefit is not having that agitator in the middle.

“Impeller Machines Suck” yes and amen! I went from a front loader to the impeller and am very disappointed. The old GE, Maytag and Kennmores would get dirt out of everything. The new impeller versions basically make your clothes smell like the detergent you used but didn’t clean hardly at all.

If you look at the portable cheap plastic washing machines like Della, and costway, they have impellers and have existed for years, they are really powerful little machines, I would argue these little machines have more cleaning power than the agitators. The new large washing machines are based off the impeller design from portable washers. but the problem with these new large machines is not enough water or power. If they made impeller washers with the same water capacity and power as the portable manual impeller washers, they'd be much more powerful than agitators. My mother has an old school washer, and my cheap little Della impeller portable washer has more cleaning power than her old school agitator washer. However, of im buying a large washer, agitators all the way. I won't buy an impeller washer unless they fix it and it has the same cleaning power as the portable impeller washer

This video shows it, if impellers in the large machines operated like this small portable one, they would work great, and I'm convinced agitator bias people would even consider getting one if the permanent washers had this same power but on a larger and more automatic scale. I need a new washing machine and was worried about going with the agitator model because it is old-school. But I hated the fact that the machine with the impeller took forever and never seem to really clean my clothes.

@@wandastevens3183 I washed kitchen cloths as my first wash. They are all stained. I was amazed at how much brighter they came out. I used the max water mode, though. I’ll continue to use that or the Deep Wash.

I like your honesty. I moved to Texas 3 years ago and the refridgerator as well as washer and dryer do not come with the house. I brought the refridgerator and washer and dryer from the previous owner which is a GE. The washer has has the impeller that is not as low as the newer models. It sucks because it only fills the tub half way no matter what size pile of clothes I put in. I always have to use the reset to add more water. I don't feel my clothes are really getting clean unless I divide large piles into small piles. I appreciate when someone does a demo video. I and getting ready to buy a new set and I think I will take my chances and try a front loader.

Maytag destroys Speed Queen.

Speed Queen only goes to 3.5. Many families need at least a 4.5 or bigger washer. I would love a Speed Queen.

@@poppatello The speed queen 3.2 is equivalent to a 4.3 in other models because you can fill it up to the top and actually wash the clothes; whereas other models use the entire tub to get their capacity but it's not true capacity because you can't fill them all the way to the top (and if you do try to do that, the clothes will not get washed)! I am a family of 10 and will have mine delivered tomorrow. I figure since the loads only take 30-45 minutes depending on the setting you chose, I can get 3 loads done within the same amount of time it would take me to get 1 load done in another model!

I have an agitator but I used to wash clothes at my Auntie house and she has one with an impeller. I found that making sure it's on deep feel and not that automatic setting. It really does make a difference.

Sold our house and buyers wanted my old junk washer dryer set, so now I'm off for a new set. I hear its hard getting appliances because of chips and major back orders. I liked my front loader for bigger camping sleeping bags,comforters and for fam of 4.now its just my husband and I so I think top loader impeller will be fine.

Front loaders wash in a tumbling motion which is usually the best way to wash.

Front loaders are the best because the clothes are continuously lifted and dropped into a concentrated detergent solution. Good for removing stains.

No agitator means if you by chance get soiled clothes you’re SOL. My daughter eating an orange and the juice got on her shirt the no agitation machine didn’t even get it out

Every manufacturer will say that the average lifespan of a washing machine is 10 to 12 years but we know that is not accurate. Speed Queen is a very reliable unit. Buy these: Maytag Commercial Washer: MVWP575GW Maytag Commercial Dryer MGDP575GW They work and are made in Marion, Ohio with the rest of their commercial machines for the US. They use water so they get you clothes clean in one cycle and they don't go out of style while you are washing them. 35-40 minutes in the washer and about the same or a little less in the dryer. They have two water levels, 1/2-full and full. Of Speed Queen, Whirlpool, and Maytag, these are currently the best. The two-piece agitator works better than the other two (see kzfaq.info/get/bejne/btRkiaqh2KfcnnU.html), and it has a longer warranty, 5 years parts and labor plus 10 years parts-only on the drum and motor. You may be scratching your head on the drum. Samsung has a huge problem with $200 drums cracking. The Maytag has a stainless drum, options selector, fabric softener, and bleach capabilities which the Whirlpool does not. They all handle out-of-balance loads well. Search for mop head tests on KZfaq and see for yourself. (they wash and spin out a heavily soiled mop head to test for cleaning and handling out of balance) On the other hand the Whirlpool has a porcelain top while the Maytag and Speed Queen use a tough paint like Imron like they put on airplanes while the other two use the traditional porcelain finish tops, which is proven and very hard. Speed Queen Commercial fit and finish are in a league of their own, the washers weigh far more than the other two, and the design is good EXCEPT steer clear of the 2018 models like a 30 lb. skunk in a one lane road. You will see cast iron cross pieces, strut shock absorbers, and it is painted as well on the inside as the outside, a clean-out port for the pump, and everything is neat and organized. You pay A LOT more also as is to be expected. People are not having issues with the paint so far, but I'd still rather have porcelain. These models are sold only through Maytag dealers, NOT big box stores. The big box stores have the identical machine with different part numbers such as MVWP576KW for the exact same washer, but they have much shorter warranties, and sell 3rd-party warranties on the side. If you have to buy from a big box store DON"T get their warranty. When you register your product with Maytag, you will get a pop-up to extend your warranty with Maytag-direct. All in all, buying from a dealer is actually LESS expensive. Yes for me, the local appliance store beat Lowes by A LOT at $1699 for both delivered, old removed, and the 5/10 year warranty models. The Lowes dryer is different in that it has a window in the door which has occasionally caused a problem with the seal but other than that functionally the same. The reason I spell out both options is the cat has long been out of the bag that currently the Maytag has no competition, and thus the factory is ALWAYS 6 weeks to 2 months behind on these for commercial and people using them in a residential setting because they've had it up to here with front loaders and HE top-loaders, so dealers aren't even setting an firm delivery dates. Still, if you call around a bunch of appliance dealers, people still find them once in a while. Good luck!

Front loading require more maintenance, as they collect mold and smell. Also, the shock absorbers wear out faster.

SQ agitator is a billion times better.
