Today, every conflict results in so many deaths that they are tenfold that of the battles we had in ages past. Back in time, we were but men. But now? Now, we may as well be living Gods. Forget hitting someone with lightning or a flood when we can eviscerate an entire city with the power of a thousand suns. Forget about all the power God had in the Bible, for we could destroy heavens entire army with the press of a button. If God were real, he would be held captive by us today, and we would have the devil's head on a pike for the amusement of the powerful

The English kings during that time were French, its the Plantagenets they came from Anjou wich is why historians are calling their holdings as "the Angevin empire". They are also the reason why the English language is composed of roughly 60% French/Latin vocabulary. So yeah there is almost nothing british about them, the "British/Anglo-Saxon" kings were beaten by William the Conqueror a Norman/French duc who conquered England you can see that on the map in 1066. Your kings starting to embrace the English language was with the Tudors a Welsh dynasty that came to power in the 16th century, And like i said its not the same English culture that you've had before William's conquest.

Poland and Lithuania became a single state in 1569 when the union of Lublin was signed not in 1835. In 1385 the union of Krewo only strengthened ties between Poland and Lithuania around that time the Grand duke of Lithuania became king of Poland, later converted Lithuania to christianity. Other then that the video is great and mostly accurate, just wanted to correct this part of the video as it's my country's history.

cool! The map is quite high quality, I would like to thank you for your skill. But there is a catch about Novgorod and Slavic principalities: The Golden Horde did not invade Novgorod, and after 1380 the Slavic principalities began to gain independence in those territories where there was a Polish-Lithuania ;)

Plenty of small errors and/or (over)simplifications made here. Most recent events in Yugoslavia and the ensuring conflicts happened ~10years earlier than they do in this map-animation. I think its to be expected given the scale and complexity that is being attempted here.

Really good video, but in the 1600s i noiced a small issue. It was called the commonwealh of England during the period between Charles the 1st being executed and charles he 2nd taking the throne in 1660, afterwards it was just the Kingdom of England.

It seems you forgot the Spanish Republic, from 1931 to 1939. Also, the Kingdom of Spain didn’t exist in the XVth century. From that moment the Kingdom of Castille and the Crown of Aragon shared their monarchs, but they were separate countries with their own laws and borders until the Spanish War of Succession ended, in the XVIIIth century

The Old Ege of this cultural map is only based on Mediterranean cultures, but before the Roman empire all Europe was populated by many others as for example the Celts; and there were other smaller cultures have been ignored, as for example the Basques.

There were never such a political entity called "Kiyevan Rus". It was named simple Rus. Name "Kiyevan Rus" is a historical period of Kiyev domination in Russland story, which happened between Novgorod Rus period and Vladimir Rus period.

I believe there were 30,000 Roman merchants in Great Britain. Rome created a sort of common Gallic currency. North of Hadrian's Wall they are without currency.

Small Correction: Before 1707, Scotland was not the not the part of the Common Wealth of England. Only England and Wales was the part. Scotland was incorporated in UK in 1707 and Ireland in 1801

Western pomerania from Gdańsk was under Piast slavic dynasty from polish divided state after Krzywousty split his country between his sons until Brandenburg took these lands. They were polish until at least XVII century when the Conquest if Brandenburg into pomerania began.

It’s crazy to visualize the same country that witnessed the death of the Western Roman Empire lived long enough to see the birth of the Habsburgs Monarchy, and even the founding of Russia (Muscovy). To think that the Predecessor of Turkey, the Ottomans, saw and conquered the remains of one of the greatest empires to have ever existed dating to even before the birth of Christ is astounding to me that even empires could last this long. If you’re counting the Roman Republic, the empire technically lasted for over 1 and a half millennia.

Well made, but quite a few discrepancies. So many times did I see borders of countries NOT move when they should, or move years after the actual fact. Many vassals not shown as such. Incorrect borders in general some times. But still, overall pretty good.

Only error I noticed is that the ‘Commonwealth of England’ only last from 1649-1660, after that it became the three kingdoms of England, Scotland and Ireland again under Charles II, James II, William III and Mary II and finally Anne until the union in 1707.

Ottomans lasted for 2 minutes and 34 seconds. That’s a 6 minute and 2 second difference. Damn.
