A few years ago I co-produced an online Streetwear course for up-and-coming brands for a company called Mastered. It was an amazing opportunity to work in an industry I've always loved, travelling the world and meeting some of my heroes along the way!
Please enjoy the following video featuring course expert I booked Kyle Ng (Brain Dead) mentoring an up-and-coming Australian-based brand All Out Co Clothing

So your brand is basically about being in LA and taking/copying things😅 Sooo cool and original

For anyone wanting good advice on starting a clothing brand I would recommend The Casual's Unscripted series, especially the first couple episodes they did about brand identity/philosophy. I think the main problem this guy had with his brand was no identity which is what is really stressed in The Casual's series.

How do they select these half baked designers. The guys designs are generic and even his own personal style is 3 years behind. Kyle was really respectful given how bad the stuff presented was.

@@Phsjygsvgsghayh ive read up on some of the relevant brands today and the people behind them. 9 out of 10 times these artists have been in the industry for atleast 5 - 10 years, some had past brands and projects that they moved on from. You can look up what Kyle did before braindead. Success in this industry doesnt come overnight, that being said imo this guy just doesnt have what it takes , hes not a "tastemaker".

What I’ve noticed is that all of these mentees are talking a whole lot and not saying anything at all. They talk in circles and it’s so unprofessional, no shade cuz then you hear the concise way the mentors speak and you can see the difference in conception through to production and how all of them should be in alignment and should move your brands story forward

this brand needs to sit down and regroup. to me it seems like he wants to do this for the money aspect. I see no passion in this from him.

He just needs better direction, not that his designs are bad cuz a single individual can not decide that. Nor can anyone say he is wrong cuz he is doing for the money, many artists no matter the craft can be driven by hardship and poverty, that is a given. What he lacks is a defined plan and every one of these I watch I see that, it is hard creating something defiant against current culture when u draw inspiration from that very thing-- in this case "hyped" brands.

the only real advice you could give to someone like this is to put his investment money into a young creative, let the passionate young creator have the freedom with the money and management from someone like this and let them create, this guy is too robotic, its like he only knows Hype culture and has read fashion retailing books, he tries to be meta while being on-trend and behind trend at that, he lacks vision and passion, let him take on a young talented creative and ride of him, let him exploit the kid alittle, ANYTHING other than this face value concept of a brand, its the only way I see him being successful or respected - becoming a talent agency for new artists.

Just feels like his all about making abit of money from this and no "Real" idea or thought for brand identity has gone into it. I mean he called brands like The Hundreds a "new brand" lol Shows his lack of understanding. Kyle must've been like can someone get this guy the link to r/streetwearstartup and tell him to come back and see me in 2 years lol I don't like to knock dudes down but i see no passion man sorry.
