Andy James, as most of you know has left ESP and joined Kiesel. In an interview following the announcement, Andy James included that one of the reasons he left was that ESP was starting to care too much about profit margins and selling. As much as I admire ESP for their wonderful craftsmanship, and great guitars, I feel as though this guitar was cheaped out on. $1,000 seems like a little too much for a guitar with only 1 pickup and LTD Tuners. It looks a little cheap too. Those are my $0.02. Great Video as always Agufish! Glad to see that you're becoming quite the channel with quite a sizable subscriber base!!!

LTD tuners came on highend LTDs in around 2007 For signature models a bit later. 1 or 2 pickups wouldn't make much of a price difference anyways. What I'm more surprised by is the country of origin of this guitar.. I would be deeply surprised to find an LTD Iron Cross or Snakebyte that was not made in Korea and then not be lowered in price.. One thing is the price increase they made which is completely stupid ($600-800 increase here) But if they change country of origin they better lower their prices.. While Hetfields and some other sigs go for around $2K here in Denmark and Thomann other sigs go for lower for some reason, the pricing is so fucked up for some guitars.. Kiesel also ditched name brand tuners to make his own.. Although I'm not really a fan of Andy or his sig, now if someone were to get an Andy kiesel Sig it wouldn't be as many that would be able to get one.. Let alone kiesel is mainly sold in the US.. (can be shipped, but that's just another hassle and then the toll) And from what I've seen and heard, I'm not really a fan of Kiesel either..

Oh yeah this guitar is way overpriced in Europe, a bit less than 1200€ when you can pick up an ec1000 for less than 900€, really not worth 1200€ by any stretch of the imagination (and it's Indonesian !!), but Asian guitar prices are getting more and more excessive now... As for the tuners, my bet is that they are Sperzels or something like that branded with LTD, it's not uncommon practice, as long as long as they're smooth, decent ratio and don't slip every 10 seconds that's ok with me.

Heh, I'm guessing by "more and more excessive now" you mean closer to normal, as in closer to how it would be if the world wasn't so messed up it's cheaper to have something shipped halfway across the planet than made locally.... Seriously though, it's a bit of a high price considering country of origin, but don't forget that that single pickup is a Bare Knuckle, in terms of value that isn't so far off a pair of Seymour Duncans

Where a guitar is made is one of the biggest and most common deciding factors for a guitar player on what guitars they buy. Not to mention, where a guitar is made is also a huge indicator as to the quality of the guitar. The fact that you’re offended by someone talking about the quality of guitars that are made in Indonesia, tells me that you’re just another ignorant person on KZfaq commenting incoherently about things you know absolutely nothing about. GoddessIn Triptych the reason it's called a "blackened" black winter is because they don't put the big Seymour Duncan logo on it in that spiky, diploma-esque font. It's "blackened" in that the pickup is all black. TL;DR: It's still a Black Winter pup, just no Seymour Duncan logo

Great video, as always I really appreciate the independent and honest reviews. Though, (it's a nitpick at this point) there seems to be a mistake in the text around 1:30. Unless I'm blind, this guitar has 24 frets and not 22 frets and you've also said later this ltd model has 24

Sick looking sig guitar, I've always wanted something similar from Gibson. I've seen some special runs of single humbucker Customs but are hard to come by and obviously expensive. This seems like a very good alternative.

You are very lucky to have access to this great original guitar with an affordable price of $ 999. Here in Brazil we do not have guitars for this affordable price at this quality! a good guitar here costs a lot and if I wanted to realize my dream of having this beautiful guitar I would spend around $ 8,000 this is absurd! we pay dearly for Japanese guitars because the only option we have is $ 999

iodinesoul ah nice, I have the natural one with alternative 8 and 59. I’m suprised how good they sound. Alt 8 is very tight and transparent. I will probably replace the 59 for something hotter

Indonesia seems to handle most of Epiphone's signature models. Maybe that's the new place for other brands signature models as well? Most of the Indonesian guitars I've owned have been great. I understand it's got a pricey pickup, but $999 seems steep for how low frills the guitar is. To it's credit, it is sexy AF, I'll give it that.

thanks for this! I am wanting to buy another les Paul shaped guitar but my band plays in drop A#z the fact that this has the 25.5 inch scale is a big plus. I only use a bridge and single volume live. Just wish they made it in black lol

The reason that it's a 14" radius is probably simple - it's an artist signature model. Could be that Westfall digs that profile and has it on his ESP Custom.

The reason why the guitar is made in indonesia is because ESP moved all the high end guitars that used to be made in Korea to Indonesia. In the last couple of years, they moved their lower end guitars to be made in indonesia only to have the deluxe series and the likes remain in korea. They changed that in 2017/2018. Now even the deluxe (like the ec-1000) are made in indonesia which blows, because even if people say that the place where the guitar is made doesn't matter, I don't see the same craftmanship in indo guitars that I do with korean guitars.

I have been a fan of this channel for a long time. Simple, accurate, honest. By a young guy who mostly likes to do some metal riffing. Intro songs are always cool. But I seem to be the lone guy that doesn’t enjoy the part with your roommate. He’s cool. But not my thing. Did it move to the middle of the video starting with this video? Or have I missed half of the reviews lately? I have always just turned it off when it got to that segment. Can the segment be moved back to the end. For the one single sub that doesn’t like the most popular part of your videos.... Anyway. Great review. Thanks for running it through all your amps!

A lot of Metal guys like me want this kind of simplicity in a guitar - the neck pup/tone control layout is just extra electronics that clouds the signal up and what's worse, we end up having to pay for those features that we rarely use. The fact is: there are few excellent, mass-produced guitars with only 1 bridge pickup, fixed bridge, and no tone control. And as expected, ESP has wised up to the fact that there is a market for this: see also - their Black Metal line and the ESP ltd AA-600 (which I own, and is imo the best guitar for under $1000).

GoddessIn Triptych...i can agree with that. And I totally understand. All my riffing and distorted playing is on the bridge pickup. But I like to play my cleans and what few solos I do play in my neck. But as a metal player My self I can understand what you mean.

I like this guitar but I honestly think $1000 is too much. If I am dropping a grand on an EC Ltd I will get another deluxe. $749 sounds more like the price it should be. Great vid as always!!!

This should only cost about $500 maybe $700. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure we are just paying endorsement fees... I'm not saying I don't like it bc I do. I want a single pickup single cut with 25.5 scale but holy shit that's too high priced. To be more realistic it should only cost about $300 or $400 though.

This kind of thinking was a thing in the 50s with LP juniors and melody makers and so on, but now the cheapest POS junk strat copy has 3 pickups in it...... People always act like every product has to appeal to everyone. It doesn't. Some people LIKE single pickup guitars, those are the people who will buy this........on the flip side nobody who prefers two pickups would buy it at any price point. Also, that single pickup ain't a cheap one. It's all speculation because I have no idea what kind of a deal the have with the manufacturers but a pair of Duncans are probably a similar cost

I have a $500 Korean guitar and its solid, zero cosmetic issues and the pliability is great. However, i recently sent back a $1000 Indonesian made guitar that was considered a "pro" range guitar and it was crap. It had little cosmetic errors, knobs were all crooked, and it felt cheaply made compared to my Korean made guitar. I have another Indo made guitar that never really impressed me but for sub $350 you get what you pay for. But for $1000 and being from a big name guitar maker I feel like I should have no complaints over quality. I would just avoid anything from Indo, just my .02.

Perhaps the 14” radius is due the fact that this is an artist signature guitar and that is the radius the the guy they built it for prefers? It’s not an eclipse sub model as much as it’s a copy of the Les Paul that he used that probably had that radius

Great review as usual. Easily one of my favorite guitar reviewers. However the other day driving I had to pee so I went to circle K to buy a slim Jim but ended up with a Red Bull, but didn’t need energy so I didn’t drink it, one thing tho, I really like your partialness to ESP; However, sometimes throwing some cowbell to ride a trike can be dangerous (not really) and my wife hates pigeons so I always tell her that a single cutaway can be a solution for some EMG’s, then sonic mayhem can be produced but then she said she said 7 isn’t a lucky number But you know what the say, apples and oranges. But I always enjoy .012-.056 and as you know tacos are always a proper meal and you should try a shawarma if you haven’t just yet but did you watch bellator 200 and By chance do you plan or maybe have thought about reviewing the black metal series LTD Viper? Anyways as usual thanks for the upload. Look forward to the next one. Ciao. #HailSatan

1.) IDK if you'd like it, but the lee malia rd style guitar looks like it would suit you and the issue of the 6-in-line tuners being too close together on the explorer is solved, as it is a 3 a side style thing. Its the explorer but an rd, same pickups, different headstock, same artisan inspired design. 3.) Kirk Hammet or John Petrucci, I love them both, unique in their own rights, thoughts?

PRS have also silently started moving production from Korea (same factory as LTD) to Indonesia, I wonder if something happened with that factory

Nope, the main line SEs are being made in the Cort factory now. i.imgur.com/6CrPbjg.jpg (It's for sure a custom, other pictures clearly show a flame maple top)

I said in the other pictures, I just linked the one showing the factory stamp. Sorry, I didn't mean they're exclusively being made in Indonesia but at least some of them seem to be. Someone who works in a guitar shop told me that the new SE acoustics they were getting in were also made in Indonesia

im preety sure the koreans are running the factory at indonesia as well, there overseeing qc, management etc, etc. maybe you just got the odd ball .

Yours wasn't the only one with the volume knob issue. The edge of mine gets stuck and rubs on the guitar as well. They didnt cut a big enough space for it.
