Ah Ching's dedication to his craft is truly inspiring! He began his journey in Zi Char at the tender age of 16 in Malaysia before making his way to Singapore in the 1990s. For the past 26 years, he honed his skills at a well-known claypot eatery. Now at his own stall, he single-handedly manages the preparation and cooking process, all while traveling back and forth to Malaysia daily.
His signature dish, the claypot rice, is a labour of love, cooked from scratch with old rice grains, topped with Chinese sausage, pork lard, and marinated chicken. The result is a mouthwatering, smoke-infused rice crust with tender, moist chicken that will leave you craving for more.
In addition to the claypot rice, Ah Ching also offers homemade prawn and beancurd rolls, as well as a secret menu item - his charcoaled Char Siew. And let's not forget about his unique claypot pork porridge, served piping hot with a generous sprinkle of crispy rice crust for added texture.
