In this episode of this series, our team will be doing a walk-around on this beautiful EG4. From the exterior to the interior, going over all of the cool features. We will also performing a much needed timing belt, water pump and valve cover gasket set replacement.

The old Civic is in fantastic condition for it's age, can't say I've ever seen a cambelt that has jumped a cog like this before I'm surprised it went as well as it did. !!! Notice on the new OEM P08 timing belt the word "Unitta" has been stamped. Unitta is the Gates brand's name in the Asian market (search "Gates Unitta" to find out more). You can buy the very same OEM P08 timing belt in a Gates box (part# T223) for as little as $17 on sites like rock auto. The only difference is the ink stamping on the belt will say Gates T223 instead of Honda Unitta P08. Additionally Aisin was also one of the suppliers for many of the original factory installed water and oil pumps for Honda. You can get the VX Aisin pump (WPH006) for only $37. The ones Honda sells at dealers are almost always made by Yamada USA, but the Aisin pumps are definitely equal in design/fit/quality.

Love the 90s Hondas. Nice to see bigger guys working in these small engine bay cars. Working on my 92 prelude always have me cursing at some point bc either my hands are too big or forearm gets stuck trying to fit in smaller place lol. You did an awesome job though. Great video! Newly subscribed

Wow guys. This bolt Is super tight. I’ve used multiple types of 1/2” drive impacts. Gonna look for a legit 3/4 and maybe build me a locking tool for the pulley. I actually broke the harmonic balancer. I had a friend who has a unused one (what are the odds!!!). So he’s gonna bring over some big boy tools and see if he can remove it. He told me Honda sometimes put these on at 134lbs or higher with loctite. He actually has the Honda tool from the 80/90’s that he used when he was a mechanic. I sure hope he can find it. I woke up thinking it was Saturday hoping to watch a new show. What season are you guys on now?

Mis my hatchback with del sol VTEC swap, del sol seats, wheels, Integra type R suspension, skunk 2 Integra upper control arms, Integra SKUNK 2 coilovers, Integra Type R strut bars and Civic hatchback Type R interior. Sailcloth white panels and dash, carbon fiber gauge cluster bezel. All energy suspension bushings. Upgraded DC Short shifting kit. Etc. Really miss it!

The Jspec version looks so much better than the USDM one. Beside engine and gearbox, you get better looking head lamps, corner lamps, thin side mouldings, brown tinted glass and so on and on. Lol

Ok my fellas at AHC, This will be my last post to this video. From this single video I found the following problems with my 92 CX which I bought with 76k on the OD and currently has 81k. I noticed I had a similar idle issue and misfire yet it still passed the smog test here in CA. I assumed I was good since I was driving it for about 3 Months. But one day I stopped, went inside to get some coffee and when I came out to start the car it wouldnt start. I waiting about 5mn and it started and I drove it to work and back. When I got home I knew something was seriously off and this video came up. When you dudes mentioned the belt slipping, my brain clicked and kicked myself in the butt for not checking this before. I went outside literally that moment and noticed my cylinder 1 high point wasn’t meeting the mark on the balancer TDC. Oh man. This is gonna suck. I found that my belt slipped 3 teeth!!!! Somehow my car continued to drive and pass emissions test. Compression test didnt look good. At least no Coolant leaks. Sent in the head to get it repaired. All exhaust valves were bent. Distributor was placed in the wrong position and was way too advanced which I’m wondering if that’s how it passed smog. Also found the same Honda dealership who has these belts in stock. And they still have 3, go figure. Thanks guys for this video. I was able to save my engine. Parts for this are sure expensive!!!!

Gonna keep replying to message. 3/2022. Started removing the head. Found out my exhaust valves were bent since the belt slipped 3 teeth. Rebuilt the head added a bunch of OEM replacement parts. Got it back up and running on 6/12/22. Quickly found out I had a vacuum leak. Brake booster gone bad. Plugged it up. Drove it for a week. Idle began to dip down. Found out the PCV valve was clogged. Removed that. Grommet was to k hard. Had to remove crack case PCV box. Oring was also hard. Replacing both of them soon. Also have a theory that my hot start issue is due to my Fuel relay. Will resolder joint to see if issue is fixed. Will also remove the TB and clean the house hole thing. Had old fluids when originally purchased. Wouldn’t be surprised if coolant hardened inside the lines and cavities. 80k on OD. I’m beginning to believe this car was never maintained since it’s birth

That crank pulley bolt is in like a beast! I’ve used penetrating oil, heated it up and used a brand new battery on my Milwaukee 1/2” M18 impact and that thing won’t budge. What is it torqued to, 150lbs?

One inch impact would take it off. I also used a thick walled socket before and it worked surprisingly well. Torque transfer is greater. You can find those on Amazon.

Seriously right? I been having and idle issue for about 7 months and I’ve removed the IACV and throttle body so many times with new distributor cap/rotor plugs and wires. I even bought a new fuel pump and pressure tester in case that happened to be the issue. Haven’t put it in but I was “thinking” did my belt stretch? LOL!!! I was laughing the entire time I was watching this video and hoping I have the same problem. Just have to learn how to set the timing with a gun. Always something to learn. You guys are awesome at AHC! Gotta get me one of them shirts.

I guess my only question is why would someone import that car to the USA? automatic Vti seems like an odd choice given the expense and hassle of importing JDM vehicles.
