I have a question..not sure though if you already discussed this before...Ive heard a lot of stories telling that some customers are not getting assistance, maybe because it seems that they dont have money,or because of his/her race..something like that...does it really happen???and why does that happen?? I’m surprised about Burberry burning unsold merchandise because they have several outlets throughout the nation. I’ll have to look into this. I hate the thought of all those beautiful cashmere scarves being destroyed.

A big reason I didnt like LV in particular was due to them “burning” unsold stuff but its nice to know that it might only be damaged goods. It makes me really upset when brands burn bags, like the process of making the bag is already not good for the environment, so when they burn them it just makes the pollution so much worse >

@@sail253 u know what pollutes the oceans more?? Fishing equipment. More than 85% of the plastic pollution on sea mounts (but you won’t hear about that as much, mostly they say it’s plastic bottles/caps/lids etc..), ocean ridges and the sea floor. Fishing industry debris comprised 60% of six tonnes of garbage collected from the remote Henderson Island in the Pacific Ocean. It is also said that even less marine mammals died in the gulf oil spills than they do from the hands of fisherman each yr, whether they’re polluting the oceans with their nets/other gear or killling them for some of the most petty reasons..for instance when they catch them and they aren’t up to their standards (not big enough, etc..)they “do away” with them, whatever the case the culprit is fisherman. Fisherman are the reason why fish/marine mammals will go extinct by 2040 unless something is done about it soon.. stricter fishing rules being put in places and ppl focusing more on the real problem. I wouldn’t focus on the masks...

They do that anyway, if you have a client account you don't even have to purchase anything and they'll give you franfrance testers to take home with you, and offering drinks is pretty standard especially if the store is quieter then usual

I have several LV pieces, that I’ve purchased or have been gifted. While I really like and appreciate my LVs, I never thought anything more beyond their luxury, status and functionality. I never knew there was this whole, “sub culture” attached. I’m finding myself fascinated by your information and stories. They almost make me appreciate my pieces all the more! I wish LV sells their products in “brand new condition”, wrapped with all the stuffings from the factory like Gucci, YSL etc. I have that peace of mind that it was not a returned item. Anyways you look so radiant. What brand and shade is your lipstick? Amazing video as always Cindy. Stay safe ❤️

I would prefer this as well. Especially for the amount that you’re paying. If it is getting shipped to you, I am surprised they don’t come wrapped and with the stuffing. I don’t want my bag to be freely moving around in the box during shipment and getting damaged.

Yes. You are correct. During the price increase in early January 2021 for canvas items, some leather bags such as the Neonoe, had a price decrease.

Many years ago, I went to Ubrique in Spain where I was told the factory for LV is located. They told me that the leather came from Spain and the hardware from France. Unfortunately, when I got there, the factory had closed for the day and couldn’t go in. The place was in a kinda remote area in the south of Spain.

I purchased two bags in Paris in 2018. The first was a speedy and it was from the flagship store. I got a new, untouched bag. A few weeks later I purchased a new collection bag from Bon Marche in Paris and they gave me the bag off the shelf. I was a little taken back by that at the time but didn’t have enough luxury experience to say I wanted one from the back. Great, informative video as always. Thanks for debunking the myths!

I think I LV overall has gotten good at predicting the inventory needed so the likelihood that they would destroy leftover merchandise is highly unlikely it seems more now that they run out of stuff than have excess

I think it’s super interesting to see the differences depending on the store. Whenever I am with my SA in Zurich they do not sell from the display but when I bought in Cannes they did a mix. One of my bags was from the display and one from the back.

Would be nice to know what types of repairs the store will accept. I have a 6 key wallet that has loose stitching and they wanted to charge me $240 for the service, however a new key holder is $265. Hi Diane! Unfortunately LV won’t sell luggage tags unless you have a bag in your purchase history that comes with a luggage tag already - then it can be sold as a replacement spare part 🤗

Cindy, may you kindly create an LV video detailing how we should take care of our LV canvas bags? There are so many conflicting videos out there. So far, what I do is just wipe it with cloth dipped in soapy water (if there is obvious dirt). Is it even true that DE treated leather and canvas in general is waterproof? Hi dear Heated Mess. Could you please help me with the advice. Half a year ago I bought LV bag from a boutique, I worn it just several times because I don't love it because it has flawed stitch of the zip cloth connecting with canvas, bag doesn't keep it's form in that place and if you focus your sight on it, you really can see that it is quite ugly sewn in that place. Even though it is quite small place like 3-4cm is off. Is it something that LV can replace, considering that I have purchased it half a year ago?

It's kind of ironic to me that Burberry burns merch to try to avoid it going on sale considering that my local saks off fifth is filled with Burberry bags and jackets. But thanks for clearing up the myths about LV!

This is b/c that is "Saks" inventory Burberry's. Many brands have agreements with the stores they allow to sell their goods , they give them a threshold that they can mark goods down too, but they can't go past a certain value. Burberry is destroying goods they still have sitting on their books at the end of the year that they deem to be "stale" or out-dated. They write it down to a zero value and destroy the goods. This is actually a very common practice among lux brands and even more affordable brands if they feel the goods are so stale (out dated) they don't want them in circulation anymore (meaning being sold off through discounters like the on line discount sites that do sell off price odds and ends of fendi, bottega, Gucci , Praia, etc. ). The write down to zero value helps lower inventory numbers as well which is a crucial part of meeting stated projected financials to share holders. Also, depending on how the financials look for the year, write offs could also be used as a tax deduction as this is considered a "loss" for the business.

Hey Cindy! I really like watching your videos, I find them very informative and fun and I really like you ❤️ I have a question if you might be able to answer. My cousin bought a monogram Emilie wallet online in Italy last year in July and sent it over to me in Bulgaria. We don’t have LV stores here, neither LV ships to us. So he posted me the wallet and I used it for let’s say 6 months and then the glazing on the left side started peeling and I stopped using it because I was scared for a bigger damage. I’m planning on going to Paris in the early June and I was wondering if I bring the wallet there in a store, could they replace it with another one since it’s not being a full year since purchase?

I purchased a IENA MM in 2017 in Damier Ebene.It was a made in USA bag.At the time I was not aware of how to check a bag for having the right alignment of the canvas as It was my first LV bag.Its straps wore out in a few months which I took to the store to get repaired.Recently I have noticed how misaligned the two pieces of canvas are at the bottom of the bag.I love this bag but the fact its not misaligned makes me sad.If I took it to the store would they do anything to correct it?what is your opinion. The fact it started to show wear and tear so soon when I initially bought it makes me think maybe my bag was not a well made piece.

I have a super vintage maybe 1970's lv bag that I've had for over 2years and have no idea if it's authentic because I often wonder if they had fake ones back in the early 80's? It's a speedy 30 with a strap.

You can get the bag authenticated. 2 great companies I use is Memes Treasures or Pro Authenticators. You can send them pictures of the bag and they will let you know if its an authentic LV bag. Its really reasonably priced. Usually $10-15.

Can LV repair vintage LV? I have a mini Danube, canvas in perfect condition but the lining around the bag has some damage. Can it be repaired?

Yes. Vintage items can be repaired at LV if you plan on paying for it. I bought a keepall bandouliere 55 preloved from my birth year 1991. I took it to LV to get all the vachetta replaced. It cost $960. I got everything with it. The luggage tag, handle holder, bandouliere strap, lock and keys. It looks like a brand new bag now. I love it. And it cost way less than spending $2000 on a brand new one in store.

I know brands want to maintain the mystery of being high priced but I've seen other designers sell off their old stock to liquidators who then sell them to independent designer discount stores in places you wouldn't likely think is a huge high fashion area. They're usually not in the biggest cities, nor the most stylish cities. I feel like that's a good compromise. If their biggest audience are tourists or city folks, then it can still maintain this austere exclusive identity for their core customer but allow someone from a small city or town to buy designer duds at a less astronomical price. And often these boutiques don't have a huge online presence so it's not like they are available to the masses.

Actually, I brought in an LV wallet I purchase at LV Duty Free in Auckland, NZ to the LV Boutique at South Coast Plaza because the inside lining peeled and cracked. I had no receipt which they asked for and they wouldn't repair the lining. Ever since, I stopped buying LV. This was in the 90's. Today, same issue of cracking and peeling. Quality just isn't there for a high price point.

What’s the different between client advisor and sales associate? I just bought a belt and planning to buy a speedy bag for my moms birthday but I’m worried that the big will be a used or the ones that was returned or something since I don’t really know how to check a new one vs to used one

I personally love when i get a bag that’s made in France. It’s where the company started, so i know that it’s being made by trained LV artisans. (Not that the rest aren’t, LOL) but for me it’s a passion for the brand and its history.

I went to LV Japan and changed my husband shoes which was bought from Dubai. It has wrinkled that cannot be repaired so they replaced it with a new one for free even without receipt.

I was in an LV boutique in Munich last year. They had only one Dauphine MM and it was on display. They would not sell it to me. I’m glad because I was over it in a few months, but how do you explain this?

Window displays show in stock products. Even if the store does not have it, they can still order it for you. They typically have to keep it on display to let people know it’s available still. Additionally, products in display windows exposed to the outside may degrade in quality from sun exposure, as an example. Those wouldn’t hold up to the LV quality to present to customers.

I notice the items doesn’t have those tag that will sound the alarm if it’s taken out of the store. How does LV make sure that thieves don’t steal when they’re in the store? I’m sure some will bring some items to the changing room and return some and stole the rest. How do they make sure all items are not stolen? If things are stolen (touch wood) who will take responsibility?

Honestly, I haven’t even thought about these types of things before. It is crazy for these types of rumors to be around, especially the burning their unsold items. Definitely would be insane for them to be burning thousands of dollars worth of items, seems like that would be a big waste.

Hi, I left a lengthy comment above - if u want to go look. I was in retail for over 30 years. Most retailers do destroy "aged" inventory or inventory they deem to be "stale" and not sellable anymore. They write down these items to a zero value, and then destroy the items. It's very common in lux brands that do not want their brands sold by off price discounters. Keeping a leave inventory number is extremely important to companies financials and the "write offs" are actually used as a "loss" for the year and can actually help the yearly financials . Many companies do this with merchandise that they can't sell to what are called "jobbers" who buy a mixed pallet or skid, or even sometimes a whole shipping container full of a mix of merchandise. They then sort it, and sell it off to off price discounters such as TJMAX, etc.

It’s best to get all your pre-owned purchases authenticated by a professional third-party Authenticator. You cannot do it reliably yourself, especially if you’re not used to handling LV bags. It’s fairly inexpensive to get an item authenticated... I get all my preowned designer items authenticated, it’s usually around $20 and for Hermès it’s $50. It’s worth it for peace of mind.

Spending a million + a year with any brand will get you pretty much whatever you like, as long as the brand "likes" the person. Apparently LV must really love JS.

Celebrities also get special collaboration treatment. I can't speak for LV but Dapper Dan has been doing collaborations with big luxury houses for decades. He recently created a Gucci 90s inspired outfit (based off an actual 90s outfit he designed) for Saweetie's most recent music video. So I imagine many high end brands do one-off custom pieces too.

Customer items that are ineligible for repair are returned to the customer. Items that customers bring in for repair that are deemed defective are first exchanged or credited before destroyed 👍🏽

I saw an LV sa insult clients (2 different people) that wanted to get something repaired and did not have a receipt even though they have bought it in that store. She would not help them with their defect items. I was so surprised at the amount of rudeness she displayed to customers. She could see when they bought the item in the system but she just would not help them without a receipt. I really enjoyed this video 😁
