Glad you brought up the lack of upper back support of the back rest. What chair do you recommend for upright posture? IMO the Aeron also doesn't provide you the upper back support, even in Forward Tilt Mode. A lot of chairs have a lack of upper back support for upright sitting. Most of the backrests are slanted backwards and mostly give you only a little bit of lumbar support.

I have this chair and you hit on everything I have to say about it as well, both the positives and negatives. For the massive price delta between what I paid for my loaded Zody vs Steelcase or HM, I'm willing to accept the compromises. I love the lumbar adjustment, forward tilt and the fact it's built like a tank. I have the black quick ship and my base is metal. Not sure if they've changed it recently. They don't make it super clear so I didn't really know what base I would get, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it was metal painted black.

This is a cool chair for standing desks but it’s probably not for me. I’m looking for a premium chair that is comfortable to sit in for long periods of time. I have had experience with an aeron in the past at work and I loved it! I’ve also sat in a friends 2019 secretlabs evo and thought it was nice material and quality but a little stiff/firm for my liking. right now i’m considering an aeron, the Leap V2 from Crandall's office, Anda Kaiser 3, or or the SecretLab Evo. I’m most concerned with the comfort of the seat cushion, and most importantly how it will work for my gaming habits, where I must lean forward half the time and do not use arm rests. I’m 6ft 1 and weigh 140 lbs. Thoughts?

I am just curious how this Zody compares to the Hermann MIller Embody or the SteelCase Gesture. Why would you need a chair for a standing desk though?
@Ahnestly
@Ahnestly Жыл бұрын
Hm I think it’s more so because if you sit, like really sit, it can be hard to go back to a standing position bc sitting just feels more comfortable. Kinda like how you know going to the gym is good for you, but my bed is so damn comfy. having a chair where you can get some temporary relief from standing but not get so comfortable that you never stand the rest of the day May appeal to folks! And it’s also a fairly solid chair minus the drawbacks I mentioned. In terms of comparison to the gesture or embody, those chairs are superior in terms of build quality and general feel. My #1 is still the embody :) If you decide to pick up a chair, please consider using my links, helps the channel a lot!!

I really need some help finding a chair. I'm not exactly strapped for cash, but I have a tough time convincing myself that it is okay to spend hundreds of dollars on a chair. I'd prefer to spend less than $400, but given my size, if I don't have any other options, I can settle for spending a couple hundred more. I am 6'5 (about 195 cm), 320 lbs. I am located in the US. I prefer to sit normally and/or leaned back. I'd like something with a very tall back rest. I've got very wide hips. I don't particularly care for lots of lumbar. I sit for 3-4 hours at a time. I've never owned a mesh chair, but something breathable is very appealing. Of course, with my weight, mesh may not hold up. The material is not a deal breaker at all. I'm not too picky as long as I fit in the chair and it supports me. I don't really have a favorite style/design. Since my last chair broke I've been using a chair from my dining table set. It's not enjoyable at all. Thank you 🙏

I’ve just found your channel from this video, and this is a really great review! 🙌 I’ve been eyeing the Haworth Zody for a while and really want to try it out because I think it might be a great option for me. Unfortunately and really disappointingly, in the UK apparently I can only get the black mesh black fabric seat black plastic frame option! 😫 That model with 4D arms and forward tilt is only £650 right now in the BF sale… but I don’t want a black one! I really like the Balsam and Water colourways… though it’s good to know the seating fabric is itchy, because I hate that! I saw comments on the US site from people saying the same thing… I guess it’s because it contains 45% wool (I can’t find the page where I saw the fabric composition breakdowns now, but it was around there). The configurator lets you pick from a whole bunch of advanced options for fabrics, though I’ve noticed the URL contains b2b so maybe it’s for companies and not mere mortals to choose specifics… I’m on a seemingly never-ending quest to find the perfect-for-me desk chair. In the office at work I had a hand-me-down Posturite Positiv Plus High Back chair (www.posturite.co.uk/positiv-plus-high-back-c5558394#pinfo-btm-m), and apart from being a bit janky in some ways due to being over 10 years old (the back wobbled and rattled a bit, and there was something wrong with the arms), it was massively more comfortable and supportive than any other office chair I’d sat in thus far! I was having some pain in my lower back and also hips/knees, and switching to this chair with the extra inflatable lumbar support was an amazing relief 😌 When it came to WFH though… lets face it, that chair is just a huge ugly lump of black plastic! I live in a small apartment and didn’t want something that bulky and “officey” dominating the room (my desk is in my open plan living room/kitchen/dining room). A lot of research later I opted for a refurbed Humanscale Freedom (with headrest), in standard black fabric but with the polished chrome frame and base. It looks pretty sleek for an office chair… but I’m totally over the black and chrome aesthetic and want something a bit warmer/fresher and more homey. The gas lift has also been broken for ages and I don’t have the tools to swap it out myself (though I could probably persuade a friend or neighbour to help…) and both arm pads are utterly destroyed, due to a combination of my apparently pointy elbows and also my cats (whose claws are much more pointy 😂), plus the cats have treated it like a climbing frame so it’s all a little bit creaky. More importantly, I just can’t get it to be comfortable and supportive enough. The headrest is always positioned wrong for me because I have long hair almost always in a ponytail or a bun, so its just not compatible with the head rest… the back goes up and down and the seat depth is adjustable, but not the seat tilt… and I feel like the standard seating position just leans back too far, so I’m often not getting the support of the back of the chair if I’m sitting more upright/leaning forwards (and lets face it, probably also slouching). For a long time my desk was an old dining table, which was too high for comfortable typing on (especially with a broken gas lift meaning I can’t extend the height of the chair!), and while I have a sit-stand desk now, I’m mostly using that to lower the desk height to work with my broken chair 😂 Unless I can find a way to get the good and interesting colours in the UK though, I guess my search continues…
@Ahnestly
@Ahnestly 8 ай бұрын
This was an incredibly detailed comment! Thank you for taking the time to write it!! I personally did not like the Humanscale Freedom..the auto tilt destroyed my back haha. Best wishes on your search, and let me know if you ever find that perfect chair!!!

Using a chair with a raised height, with a height adjustable standing desk, is probably the most pointless thing I've ever seen in this space. The only time it makes sense to have that setup is when you have a tall, fixed height desk; even then I'd probably just use a draught chair instead. If you're able to adjust the height of your chair and desk, then there's no reason to sit whilst in the stand up position.

Sitting puts a lot of strain on your back, and the human body gains a host of minor 'atrophies' if you slouch or it does not move around enough. Rocking in a traditional office chair does the job, but new chairs w/ flexible backs or sit-to-stand features helps you to stretch more effectively and to get onto your feet, which is a godsend for those spending >30hrs/wk in their chairs.
