Күн бұрынAhsoka Episode 3 brings us something I didn't think Dave Filoni would venture deep into...and that's discussing the force and how everyone has it...yet...why most can't use it. This is something George Lucas has discussed decades ago and I know many fans will not understand this too well, but I assure you, it's what George has mentioned all along.
In this episode we got to see so much of the lore and Ahsoka's abilities as Anakin Skywalker's padawan in true form! I really liked this episode, I hope you did too!

I really loved Huyang's line "long list of untraditional Jedi" because you can trace that all the way back to Dooku. So many references!!

Ahsoka - >Anakin ->Obiwan - > Qui-Gon -> Dooku. The only "traditional" Jedi in this line is Obiwan. Everybody else had unique outlooks on life.

I was hoping Ashoka would’ve brought up Kanan when talking to Sabine about abilities without sight. Would’ve been a sweet callback but otherwise good episode, despite being so damn short.

@@e.l.nortonwhat’s wrong with the show? everything’s awesome, many callbacks and references to old stuff, everything falls into the lore unlike the sequels, they brought in live action one of the best character from the clone wars, plus it keeps adding stuff in the SW timeline so that maybe one day we can look back at this sequel trilogy and say: “finally it makes sense” (even tho I doubt it’ll happen😂) but like… it’s great whatsoever so why you mad?

“A long line of untraditional Jedi” actually refers to the fact that Ashoka was trained by Anakin, who was trained by Qui-Gon, who was trained by Count Dooku, who was the apprentice of Yoda. Yoda represents the Jedi establishment, but the line under Dooku represents an offshoot characterized by skepticism of certain dogmatic views of the Jedi.

Nothing of actual importance happened the story didn't progress in any meaningful way and i dont get why everyone was mad about the broom boy from last jedi but totally fine with or even happy about the whole anyone can use the force thing, someone explain lol. I feel like theres a bias going on with this show, everyone was saying its gonna save star wars just because dave filoni, and its been extremely mid so far but people are acting like its so good, jus someone explain pls

@@jacobjackson2787Comparing to other shows like obi wan and Mando, book of boba its a lot more a quality one in terms of everything like the story, music, visuality, writing…. In general its not a big deal so far but it feels star wars and its not full of unnecessary fan service and akward moments. And in a series some more filler episodes are needed to build characters like the first half here. I really enjoyed the sword training and some lore of the force. Second half had a good visuality and music. It could have been longer for sure, that was my biggest issue here. It brings the vibe of the prequels where actually the first 2 ep are quite mediocore too all in all but had a good sw feeling

@@mogyir I enjoyed the training scene also but felt like it went on to long, I think it was a 7 minute scene or something like that, I did not enjoy the space battle cause it never felt like it had any stakes or that anyone that mattered was ever gonna get hurt, plus the whole fly into the 3 foot long lightsabers was ridiculous but if there had been more story moments that actually mattered and moved the story forward I wouldn't care but since nothing was really happening the little things bother me a little more, anyway I'm still hopeful it will pick up and be a great show wen it's done but I just don't get the people giving it 9 out of 10 and all that, to me this was as mid as it gets. My dad introduced me to star wars when I was very young and I connect with him thru star wars but im not watching this with him or as of this episode gonna suggest him to watch it, cause he wouldn't understand wats happening cause they expect you to have watched the cartoons and so far it's not interesting enough to make him want to know what's going on, I want the best for this show not tryna be negative just being honest

I'm so glad they aren't just automatically making Sabine a super powerful jedi. My biggest worry was that she was just going to have all of this incredible power for no reason and not have to work for it but clearly that is not the case. Very happy so far.

She should never be able to wield the force, the Guardians of the Whills weren't able to and they were a wayyyyyy more dedicated to the force. I'm cool with her being able to use the training helmet, tap into the force, have small gains from it (reaction time in combat, more awareness), but she should never be able to force pull that cup.

In the EU, there is Corran Horn, who is force sensitive but cannot move things around or do what we knew of jedi at the time. His skills ended up giving him amazing reflexes (which helped him be a great pilot), and more mind control stuff. Its possible that sabine has different powers that we have already seen but haven't been honed. Things that Hyuong and Ahsoka arent trained to recognise.

Corran Horn was already a great pilot when he was placed into the Temple so his natural talents were boosted by force sensitivity. he was also trained to be a Rebel agent so his mental powers were already buttressed by a trained mind. Sabine is a Mandalorian with an affinity for using weapons and craft plus her creative side. She can certainly use the lightsaber better than say, Din Djarrin . Ahsoka herself didn't really use the floating boulder training , so Sabine might not have fine motor control powers. Luke was trained by Yoda in both fine motor (rocks) and gross motor (the X-Wing) so he is more rounded as a Force User. Hyuong has been training Jedi for a very long time, doubt it actually hasn't seen any Force powers.

I was annoyed by the training scene when Sabine seemed shocked and frustrated at having to fight blind... she thought that was crazy? Didn't she fight along with Kanan after he lost his sight and was using the force to see ALL the time?

Yeah but kanan was a jedi knight trying to be a master to Ezra she probably expects a high caliber jedi to be capable of those feats when she didn't even know she was somewhat force sensitive

She has fought using her senses all her life, she just isn't used to fighting without them, her reaction is understandable. Also as mentioned, Kanan was a jedi knight and a strong force user.

It is so good to see Jacen Syndulla in live action. You can actually see on his right shoulder the pauldron (shoulder armor) that his father, Kanan, used in the first two seasons of Rebels. Nice little touch

Don’t get me wrong, she has the look down pat, it’s just her mannerisms & body language that really throws everything off for me. Her acting just isn’t Ahsoka. Now the actress playing Sabine on the other hand is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT imo.

I was veeeeery sceptical about the show especially after seeing the first episode and having yet another person survive a lightsaber stab through the body. But I really loved this episode, the interactions between Ahsoka and Sabine, really Top Tier. I remain sceptical though and hope to be positively surprised.

But that’s not even happening Ezra and Kanan both said she wasn’t force sensitive, now Ahsoka says anyone can wield the force with training and practice? That goes against any lore and is just an insult. This is all part of Kennedys plan to justify things that happened in the sequels

Love how selective they’ve made lightsabers and the level of damage they inflict. Getting stabbed through the stomach doesn’t somehow cook your internal organs and turn them into mush, but yet can effortlessly slice through solid metal and blow up a spaceship👌🏽 pure genius level writing. Nobody is talking about that. It's a massive insult to Qui-Gon. The only thing I can posit is that when Sabine got stabbed it was more to the side, whereas Qui-Gon's was right down the middle, so it severed his spine? IDK. This show is terrible.

I think any force accounts she manifests at first will be defensive. She might be able to do like a small version of battle mediation if she ever becomes in control of her ability. She's a tactful and skilled warrior so it would make sense she's trying to use them offensively. That's why they aren't working. She's going to realize she has natural abilities beyond just fighting to try to manifest through

I think it would be fine if she uses it as meditation and predicting moves in a fight but can never physically wield the force as she isn’t force sensitive and that would a fine line for Sabine

Definitely got some New Hope vibes in this episode. Sabine being blindfolded for training, the space battle drawing parallels to the Tie fighters attacking the Millennium Falcon... this was definitely the most "George Lucas" Episode yet and I love it.

Which is why I hated it in both scenes, both in mass effect 2 and this, its absolutely stupid. They have the receipts that these issues are maybe not entirely what they are hyped up to be by the person calling for help but they've seen them in action the council probably watched sovreign blow up the citadel fleet and GOOD LORD atleast Mon mothma should know you do not want thrawn knocking about as she was litteraly THE LEADER of the rebel alliance and as chancellor she'd just even assemble a small task force to hunt him down, its just dumb writing for the writers to get the plot they want. Plus also thrawn is a known war criminal in the eyes of the NR and a imperial grand admiral may I add, so yeh capturing him would be a massive boon in support from atleast the planets thrawn wronged, so politically IT WOULD MAKE SENCE TO DEPLOY A TASK FORCE.

As someone who hasn't watched any animated series I feel pretty lost with what's going on, I don't think this show is for me. Feels a little silly like the protagonists are just flying through this easy with shields, lightsabering on the wing, feels ridiculous. I imagine same vibes to the kids animated series.

It just seems odd that Ahsoka refused to train Grogu due to his attachment to Din Djarin , but will train Sabine despite her huge attachment to Ezra.

Ahsoka was so much like Anakin in this episode and it was amazing. In the opening scene when she was training with Sabine, she was just like Anakin in the Tales of the Jedi episode where he trained her. She even said "let's go again" just like Anakin. And of course when she went outside to take on the starfighters that was something Anakin would have done.

Why is Hera talking about Thrawn with the senators? It doesn't matter if they're looking for thrawn or he's dead. An imperial prisoner escaped with the help of two force users. Her shipyard is manufacturing starship drives and had imperial loyalists. THAT is the investigation. One of those drives was bigger than amything used by the republic fleet, and she has ten. The republic should be concerned that shes building a small fleet of star destroyers and could be a major problem.

Because the writer of this show wanted to create FAKE drama. Or they wanted to make the New Republic Council look completely incompetent and stupid, which is what they did, the males were especially guilty of making DUMB responses and ignoring the threat of Thrawn. Don't forget that this is all building up to WHY did the New Republic fold like a cheap suit to the First Order.

I personally don't think the Plo Koon theory makes sense. As Ahsoka being a good friend of Plo Koon, there's no way she wouldn't have known his apprentice. And she didn't seem to have any significant reaction to hearing his name earlier in the series.

Also this whole "The force resides in everyone" thing is not just information in books and interviews with George Lucas. In the very first episode of the Clone Wars (not chronologically) Yoda said it as well to his clones in the ambush episode. "The force resides in all lifeforms, use it you can to quiet your mind"

It’s about being force sensitive. And usually kid who are can use the force uncontrollably. For example Anakin while he was podracing, the only reason he didn’t die doing it, because normal humans can’t even participate in the sport, was because he could basically see the short term future. The notion that every single person in the galaxy can just learn using the force is completely universe breaking. Just another completely canon breaking thing by Disney Star Wars….

@@wingthomaux Right! I’m okay with Sabine maybe tapping into it to have heightened reflexes or some boosts to her fighting but nothing crazy. She could be like the guy from Rogue One maybe. I think people are misunderstanding the force resides in everything line, training helps but you could train vigorously for 50 years and you still aren’t going to be Jedi level. For example the point of Anakin was he was the most powerful force user ever. If he hadn’t trained, he might not have gotten to the level he was but even then if he and someone random both trained exactly the same way from day one for 20 years, the second person won’t be Anakin level…even if they trained harder

The force doesn't let you see the future bro. There are some who have visions of possible futures but that's the will of the force. The force flows within all living things, this is established cannon. The only difference is who can access said force and there are varying degrees of access. Sabine’s struggle to grasp the force and Huyang’s constant jabbing at her inability to command the force, reminds me of the Legends novels with Obi-Wan: Rising Apprentice. I think it was in Rising Force where Obi-Wan was training with other younglings before they get selected for apprenticeship, where he was bullied for having the weakest connection to the force out of all the younglings.

@@BreMue obi didn't rise to anakin's level. anakin was 10 years younger than obi when he defeated dooku, while obi wan even with anakin got knocked out pretty fast. he only defeated anakin by pressing on his ego. he didn't actually defeat him using skill. also obi wan tricked luke into attempting to kill vader by giving him a grudge, that being vader killing his father, obi wan is far more cold blooded than given credit.

There are a couple moments in Rebels where Sabine displays true Force sensitivity, but it's glanced over on purpose I think. Sabine feeling the Dark Saber getting lighter as she starts to get in tune with it. Plus her saying "he is coming" referring to Ezra running to the portal in the World Between Worlds despite not being able to actually see him, she just sensed it. Not to mention her ridiculous agility in combat, plus her crazy pilot skills. It's like if she isn't "over thinking it" she can do it.

It's not just Sabine. Like George Lucas said, everyone is force sensitive. Just look at Din Djarin and Bo-Katan. Din struggled with the weight of the darksaber. Meanwhile Bo used it pretty easily with one hand. Kanan said that you have to connect with the blade as your thoughts and actions influence it, the blade becoming an extension of yourself.

Yeah there were a lot of callbacks to ANH. The helmet training while flying, Sabine literally quotes Luke “I can’t see how am I supposed to fight”, the battle with Shin and Marrok, etc. Just hope they don’t mary sue her..

Theory, im afraid youre falling into a "Filoni can do no wrong" camp. Always be thoughtful and critical my friend when applicable! I worry the Ahsoka series so far has been flat with an unnecessary training of Sabine to be a force user. The story feels like it's dragging, and most highlighted by this third episode with prolonged scenes that didnt progress the story, nor greatly work on character building. I think there were some great scenes for sure, but i thought some of the points i make here overshadow those, which is why i mention them. Just saying, and i really appreciate all your videos and the passion you have. I say none of this to detract from what you do! May the Force Be With You!

Yes. I saw a lot of Anakin through Ahsoka’s teachings this episode. Really it was both amazing and a hint of sad. She clearly holds dear those moments with him and it brings back some pain to think of them even though training. But if she can balance out those emotions (which she’s better at) of pain, understanding and compassion for Sabin- she and Sabin will be successful.

I wonder if she's gonna come to the conclusion many of us face in reality "what worked for you, won't work for someone else." ANAKIN'S way of teaching Ahsoka worked for them, clearly. They just clicked. Probably because they're close in age-Ahsoka was 14 when she first enters the scene, and Anakin was only 19-20ish when he basically had to raise her and take her on as a sibling. He took that responsibility very seriously. Obi-Wan's way of teaching DIDN'T work for Anakin, and it damaged their relationship. And it seems like Ahsoka TRYING to emulate Anakin here, is what damaged her relationship with Sabine. So she'll have to find her own way to teach. Just like how Luke had to kind of learn how to train Rey after his failings with Kylo. You learn as you go. That was Luke and Rey's relationship.

Amazing Kurosawa inspired episode. That training sequence serves as both world building as well as setting up Sabine’s character arch. As a martial artist I appreciate the form and technique showcased by the actors while sparing. Much improved from the Sequel Trilogy baseball bat lightsaber fights. Also, I loved the space dog fight. Brilliant episode. It had the wonder and innocence of Lucas era Star Wars. I have high hopes for the rest of this season. I just hope they keep building up to a satisfying climax.

I am even more convinced that Balen and Shin are Dark Jedi now. Balen and Shin both seem to have a Jedi like focus in how they carry themselves and use the force (which only makes sense seeing Balen was a Jedi). Shin is young, but the control and focus she showed through the dog fight...no crazy rage or recklessness...really was impressive! I don't think Balen wants to kill Ahsoka....I think he wants her to join him! Maybe he wants to create his own Dark Jedi Temple, and thinks that Ashoka could be turned (seeing she was Anakin's apprentice) and used to benifit his plans, but doesn't want to let that be known quite yet. It will be interesting to see how things unfold.

I liked the take on Sabine as a force user. We have always seen recruits with "talent," as Ahsoka said, but we've never seen someone try to train someone with ZERO talent. I'm hoping they just revert to her being a BA mando. It's ok to NOT be force sensitive....😅

I think Filoni will figure out a way to give her some kind of limited access to the force. A force 'spidey sense' to sense danger and move out of the way just before it happens for example wouldn't be overpowered and could be useful in combat. but I don't want to see her using any overt force powers like force lighting or force pushing that traditional jedi can use because they have actual talent in manipulating the force.

I mean, one of the reasons prequels were hated was because fans were mad at the whole midiclorian thing, since until the prequels it was perceived as anyone can use the force and be good at it (which didn't make much sense anyway). “Anyone can train to use the Force” just feels like a Disney move. What stopped iconic Mandalorians and Bounty Hunters from training to use the Force then. Seems like they’d love to be able to use it in combat. Sabine can train to have Force Powers, but characters like General Grievous, Jango Fett, Boba Fett, Cad Bane, Din Djarin, etc. can’t? I just don’t understand the hype with this show right now. It’s been better than Kenobi, Book of Boba, and Mando Season 3, but it still feels so corrupted by Disney.

I mean, as Theory said in the video, Lucas said everyone is force-sensitive, but how much we can actually wield it depends on both natural traits like midichlorian levels and developed traits like determination and practice. I really don't see why it is a problem for her to learn the ways of the Force, as long as the show doesn't make it look easy.

Did you notice at the beginning of the episode Ahsoka asks Sabine to do the Zatochi style? This is a total reference to the famous Samurai film Zatoichi the blind swordsman. Ahsoka hands Sabine a blinder....Dave is totally inspired by Samurai films and I love it.

The training sabine was doing with Huyang is also very similar to Kenjutsu. The training is for cutting form and technique improvement. In real life, they use bamboo mats.

I have a theory that depending on your midichlorian count you will have an easier time learning the force or having a harder time. It depends on how far you will go to learn the force since it flows through all and all are force sensitive.

i really like that everyone is force sensitive, but to different extents. it makes more sense than the force arbitrarily selecting people to communicate with

This is worse than Broom Boy. Broom Boy just implied that you didn't need famous parents to be gifted with the force. This implies that you don't need to have innate talent to wield the force, you can just train hard enough and one day you'll be a Jedi too. Then what the hell was the purpose of midichlorian counts? Why is the robot ignored when he points out that Sabine has the lowest force potential of any candidate he's ever seen?!

@@veeclash4157because everyone has the force in them like every single person has midochlrians .. like anakins you don’t need to know his count to know he’s incredibly strong but Sabine didn’t even know she had force potential

@@Monokazie But if you have 100 and I have 5 on the midichlorian count, that is supposed to represent how much of the Force we are able to access. I would be much, much weaker than you. Sure training, talent play a large role in *maximizing* the potential that you have; I could be making use of all 5 midichlorians worth of 'bandwidth' to the force through rigorous training whereas you are only using 70 percent of your total possible talent; you'd still be much stronger.

Loved the fight scene and felt when the slices showed in the light it was Filoni explaining the saber bouncing off of storm troopers due to the wielder using the side of the blade rather than its cutting edge

Excellent episode Filoni slowly planting the seeds for Sabine to harness the Force by the end of the series Meanwhile Ahsoka fighting in space be like: “I’ll try spinning, that’s a good trick!"

I had 2 issues with the episode. 1- "I can't see, how am I supposed to fight?" Sabine was literally trained to use the Darksaber by a blind Jedi. 2- For the 2nd time, protagonists pilot a craft directly into an enemy barrage, taking hit after hit, and the heroes' plot armor allows them to somehow survive. First the Phantom 2 did it at Corellia, and now Ahsoka's T-6 shuttle does it against this turbolaser barrage. Obvious plot armor is obvious.

@@katomamundara8106 No, I'm not underestimating anything. Any weapon that ineffective causes me to not be able to suspend my disbelief. It's like the joke about stormtroopers not being able to hit anything.

@@highseasbanditry "That ineffective" - Again, you are underestimating shield strength. Took hundreds of pelts from Turbolasers to still fail to pierce a shield in the classic trilogy on a battleship (See: battle of Endor). This amount's about reasonable. These shields are MEANT TO BE HARD TO BREAK. This isn't a video game where shields are made of twoply.

@katomamundara8106 both the T-6 and Phantom 2 are Clone wars Era shuttles. The Eye has newly installed turbolasers and a reactor big enough for 7 super star destroyer hyperdrive cores

I loved that it didn't move. I hope maybe a few episodes down it maybe moves like half a centimeter, hardly anything, but SOMETHING and that maybe season finale when something is on the line she is able to make something REALLY happen

@@BreMueI hope she can’t use the force in that way at all. I just feel as if it would be wrong. I do hope she can get better awareness and reflexes, but I don’t think she should be able to use it that much

I loved absolutely everything about this episode. This series is right up there with Andor for me. Andor was a different style of Star Wars and I absolutely loved it. But this Ahsoka feels SO much like a mix of the prequels and the OT. The music, the cinematography, the lightsaber battles and the space battles. It's all just perfect.

Yea...I can't agree here. Andor was significantly better. There was constant sense of danger there. Even Mandalorian and Boba Fett had more tension. Ahsoka and Sabine during danger are behaving like they are in the animated series.

Well you see the helmet is composed of the special q molecules that antman uses so that his suit can shrink or expand along with him when he uses his super powers... wait, wrong universe? Who knows! LOL, the helmet was probably just a custom job. Twileks are a thing in Star Wars after all. Each alien species probably has their own 'faction shop'. LOL

I loved seeing Jacen Syndulla! Kanan and Hera was my favorite relationship of all the rebel characters. And when Kanan died it absolutely gutted me. So to see his son bounding about with so much enthusiasm and desire to be a Jedi reminded me of Kanan. Of all the things he went through in the war turning him away from the Jedi order, giving him so much doubt, and yet reconciling himself at the end trusting in the force. I did notice Hera seemed a bit negative about Jacen training to be a Jedi. Don't know why. Maybe because there are so few teachers. Maybe because she fears he'll go on to do a selfless sacrifice like his father. Maybe he's not that's force sensitive. I know that this is not his story. It's not his time for an arc. Maybe in future properties. It's just cool to see him.

Same, when I fist watched through the show, I could tell they were setting Kanan up to die, but then him rescuing Hera I was like awe it's gonna be ok then the fuel tank went up. I was in shock but damn, went out like a BOSS, shows how great a Jedi he really was.

Great episode. The only negative I really have is how short it was needed about 10 more minutes but other than that I like how it built up for episode four

If I’m not wrong, Xiono wasn’t killed on the attack of the first order from Star killer base, in season two of Star Wars resistance there is a holo call between him and his son.
