Yes, its a folk song seems to be an old one tells about swords and armor sort of Viking age. The same old story told trough out centuries young guy marries a girl and must go to war. He blames himself for being light-minded about the whole thing. Anyway somehow the song is joyful. Latvian soldiers did a good job through out centuries they were tough guys, including WW I and WW II. You cannot deny them credit!

@rippedxXxraptor yeah, it's a folk song about a recently wedded fellow, who gets called to the arms. I don't really know, just WHY it's so popular here, maybe because it's simply so fun to sing.

@edcasapia This one could be trasnslated like - OMG, I'm so harebrained, married so early, now gotta go to the army. So I ask landlords, why they dont take others, since there are families of 7 brothers around, and they can all fight as well. In fact it's a folk song that cannot be translated exactly without losing the meaning.

9. maijā pie "uzvaras" monstra vajadzētu pieteikt tautas koncertu ! Ja mēs nevaram viņus ar labu, tad ar dziesmu !! Kāpec gan nevarētu noorganizēt kādu festivālu ? pieteikt un finansēt ( nekautrēties un Rd atbalstīt) un viss būtu kārtībā.
