It's just the Latin version of Hail Mary and I do believe that the prayer Hail Mary comes from part's of the bible. Schubert composed Ave Maria based on the prayer Hail Mary.

@slobama Actually, Schubert's original work was in German, and was titled "Ellens dritter Gesang" (Ellen's Third Song in English). It was based on the Lady of the Lake from Walter Scott's poem. The Latin lyrics were used with the tune later.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. (These words are taken from the New Testament readings from St. Luke. Mary is greeted by angel Gabriel in the Annunciation of God’’s will for Mary (Hail Mary, full of grace…and then when Mary visited her cousin, Elizabeth, mother of St. John the Baptist, greets her with the words Blessed art thou…). Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. (These words were added later by the Church).

The most beautiful, elegant soprano voice in the world. She makes me cry every time I hear her. I have followed her since she won the Placido Domingo Competition several years ago. Her “Casta Diva” is the most poignant, beautiful ever - Maria Calls cannot take a candle to Aida Garifullina. I only hope to be able to catch her performing somewhere around the world one day soon. Essa música me lembra da minha infância, meu pai escutando o rádio 18:00 hrs tocava essa música e o locutor falava os nomes dos falecidos do dia, era uma sensação triste de despedida de quem eu não conhecia, mas que já não estava mais aqui, vinha o sentimento de que não somos nada, estamos aqui só de passagem, que possamos desfrutar o máximo aqui pois o tempo é curto, ontem eu era um menino e hj já sou adulto e amanhã serei um velho, que Deus possa abençoar quem parou p ler esse comentário e a vida segue.

@@milasch1 Да, это тот случай, когда все в восторге не пойми от чего. Комментов почти 3000. Но разве это тот голос, которым следует восторгаться? Я хотел отозваться о слышимых изъянах, но напался на ваш комментарий. Да.Голос качается, в конце фразы не хватает дыхания, от чего искажается кантилена, и вообще нет стиля. Шуберта так не поют. А как? Так, как поёт Мирусия в ансамбле Andre Rieu. Легко найти и трудно сдерживать слёзы, все слушают не дыша. Рекомендую.
