Aida is so beautiful, either her face or her voice.

Such beauty!!! She sings effortlessly, reminding me of a goddess, perhaps, who was once as bird.... ahhhhhhh!!!! SUCH LOVELINESS!!!!!!!!!!

When she hits that final note....heaven! Never mind WHAT " type" of voice she has....for me , it's the emotion I am feeling that counts... nothing else. Why try to intellectualise it.Her voice matches her physical beauty.

It is no surprise that the director Stephen Frears immediately cast Aida to honour Lily Pons in this movie upon interviewing her. Many will argue there might be other soprano versions worthy but Aida was perfect for the role. It is her natural ability (apart from her incredible voice and articulation) to effuse the character in the context of the movie: evoking the emotions of sheer artistic beauty of the voice and opera for Meryl Streep’s character to the point of tears….. I didn’t know who the soprano was when I watched the movie but this part of the movie certainly made an impression on me.. It was only years later when I came across Aida again singing with Andrea Bocelli, when her voice stunned me yet again…..since then I have been enjoying her in Operas where she NEVER fails to mesmerise.. her voice, phrasing, articulation and acting (and of course her beauty) is a treat for the senses….

She sounds lovely. I've heard other singers sing this song at a higher pitch/octave, some better than others but, this version sounds almost warm and comforting - so I appreciate it.

All top voices in their respective ranges usually can sing coloratura runs... even male voices. Aida has the coloratura skills... but is a lyric soprano. Doesn't claim or pretend to be anything else, and doesn't need to, either. She is building a career as a brilliant lyric soprano with great performance skills.
