Dating in today’s culture has changed significantly in a generation. Single adults are often less intentional about thinking and planning ahead for a future marriage. And many Christians aren’t committed to moral boundaries anymore in their dating relationships. Tovares and Safa want to change that dynamic by pointing single adults to God’s design for dating. Singles need to prepare themselves to be godly mates and have a “teamwork”/service perspective rather than a focus on self. You can’t have a “take it or leave it” approach - which is arrogance, not godliness. Or beware following today’s “cancel culture” by judging other people. Tovares and Safa recommend singles inspect the spiritual fruit of potential dating partners in order to avoid “counterfeit Christians.” And finally, it’s important that your dating journey draw you closer to God, rather than away from Him.
