The concert is dedicated in loving memory of those who've died from cancer and to honor those cancer survivors.
The Celestial Brass can best be described as passionate, vibrant and entertaining! Established in Millersville, Pennsylvania in September 2008, this brass quintet is comprised of Tuba, Trombone, two Trumpets and French Horn. Focusing on all types of genres and playing various venues, the Celestial Brass is quickly gaining momentum. leaving audience wanting more of the "Celestial Brass" Experience. The Celestial Brass has had the privilege of performing in such venues as the Pennsylvania Academy of Music and the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Celestial Brass has also had the opportunity to be coached by the Rodney Mack Philadelphia Big Brass and even had the chance to work with the world-renowned Wynton Marsalis. Recently, the Celestial Brass was accepted into the Brass Ensemble Residency at the Banff Centre in Alberta Canada, which took place for two weeks in July. The residency is a prestigious event that was won by competition against an international circuit with which the Celestial Brass participated in early 2010.. While staying in Banff, the quintet will get to work with such names as Jens Lindemann (former Canadian Brass member and international soloist), Martin Hackelman (former Empire Brass and Candian brass member), & Sam Pilafian (former Empire Brass member and international Tuba Soloist).
Members of the Celestial Brass include Dan Meeker, Nate Petley, John Maurer, Dan Stauffer, and Tommy Reiger; all of whom currently study music at Millersville University of Pennsylvania.
