Snoop's people are from Detroit. I remember hearing about this original version... HoTown was supposed to be one of the labels under Motown (similiar to Tamla), but The Supremes and other women artists on the label were FURIOUS, which is why they started recording more serious records... they felt Mr. Gordy was disrespectful for allowing this label to become a thing, so the entire HoTown catalog was shelved or reduced to test presses only. I saw a test press on eBay for 40K for this song!
