From Algeria 🇩🇿

Hi! Great video. I like the technical details - flaps, spoilers, slats etc and their role in flight. Yes, I have memories of Air Algerie! I live in Botswana and have visited Algeria four times over some years. During those visits, I flew with the airline eight times between Algiers and many of the Saharan oases - Timimoun, Ghardaia, Tamanrasset, Illizi, Djanet... I notice that your flight left on time. However, not one of my flights left on time - the most punctual left just two hours late! I once commented about this to some fellow passengers but they simply said 'C'est normal!' Some flights left four hours late. However, the airline provided many snacks in the departure lounge whilst we were waiting. And one flight from Ghardaia to Tamanrasset was simply cancelled one afternoon, the reason given was that pilots were required to fly planes for the Hajj to Mecca. But the airline put us up in a local hotel with all meals included - the plane finally took off next morning. But the cabin crew were always great, polite and helpful and the meal service was good. And in no other Saharan country does a national airline fly to so many oases in the Sahara as does Air Algerie! They certainly beat taking a bus from Algiers to Tamanrasset , a two day journey - a distance of 2 000 kms! Maybe the airline keeps more to time on international routes! Runways also often have a letter following the number. For example, a runway may have two numbers: 03L and 21R. 03L shows a compass bearing of 030 whilst 21R shows a compass bearing of 210 degrees [the bearings always differ by 180 degrees]. Two numbers are given since a plane can approach the same runway from one of two opposite directions, in this case, on a bearing of 030 degrees and a bearing of 210 degrees. R stands for right, L for left. Compass bearings always have three digits.

Nice detailed flight report. You boarded via 2L and not 1L Surprised as well to see an all Y cabin and a no duty free shops at an international airport. No need to refurbish the outdated cabin when planning to phase out the aircraft , but ground maintenance should pay attention on cabin cleanness The price tag is way expensive for a one way for such service

Its common to hear clapping whilst landing especially on air algerie flight ive gone to algeria every year with air algerie and we clap every time the plane lands its to show that we have landing safely and especially for the nervous flyers or people with anxiety like myself it feels good to land safely and then hear clapping and clap along.

The runway numbers relate to the 360 degrees (1/10), however the number of any runway reflect the dominant wind direction, so if you read runway 09 this mean that the dominant wind direction is of the east. Also, before building an airport there are consultation with the bureau of Meteorology - Climatology Dept. to provide the building designer the dominant wing direction in the vicinity of the airport so the engineer will work how to design runways.

These a330s are special all economy liveries for higher capacity in order to serve the Hadj and France flights, to gain more seats and spend less money, that's why it's outdated but I still hope the a330-900 neos and a350-1000s will be better, and actually Air Algérie had delivered 3 of newest generation of a330 ceo in 2015

Air algerie always uses new-planes with seated-IFE to go pairs, but today they didn't. inchallah they will serve proper meals if they kitchen is fixed. Also if you see IRP Aviation video, you will see they gave him proper meals from Pairs-algeries 1 month ago.

What is the hotel?

No self-check-in kiosks because they don't read visas. 99% of Algerians need a visa to go pretty much anywhere in the world.

the debate on clapping when an aircraft lands can be very long?? Why and who???

It was nice to see the aircraft in the old 2 X 4 X 2 configuration rather than 3 X 3 X 3. Those seats may be outdated but I am sure they were much more comfortable than modern thin seats and the legroom was adequate. The state of the aircraft with regard to cleanliness was disgusting. This used to be a hot meal route but I guess these days you were lucky to get that snack. The IFE is probably not turned on for short haul flights. Odd to see the aircraft in an all economy configuration on this route. Was this perhaps in the peak summer period when the flights in the opposite direction would be full with Algerians returning to Algeria for the summer holidays?

The fact their flagship looks like that isn’t good. There are other airlines in their region that are dominate in terms of locations flown to, service and a much more modern fleet.
