How to tell where the check in for a Chinese airline is in any airport: Find where the line is the longest. This strat works, i saved 3 seconds of my life bc i didnt look at the departure board. This is either because of the slightly complex check in procedures to check passengers in for China or because Chinese people just like checking in 6 large bags on every flight

No online check in??? I booked this past winter and it said online check in is available. Also the plane is an Airbus a350 so its not decades old.

Thanks bunna4. I only carried on luggage, so not sure but I doubt it because half the people flying there have connections and then you'd have to get a visa.

i just booked the Air China for the first time. Can you check in the baggage directly to the destination without pick up in Beijing (transit)? eg. from UK direct to Japan.

I'm wondering if they really do weight the carry on luggage, since on their website it's only 5kg ... which is not a lot at all, how was it during the check-in of your trip ?

Good question; I think it depends on the bag and the agent 😉 I had a big backpack so I just told them no luggage to check. I think if it’s a roller bag or hard shell they will ask you to weigh it when you check in. Remember there is no way to not go to the check in desk. But then again most tickets they give you 2 checked luggage for free 💵

Chinese airlines dont check, even if they do, they still let you take it

Thanks for the video. I'll be flying from SFO to Tokyo this month with a 21+ hour layover in Beijing. Thankfully, the airline offers a complimentary hotel stay. Your video was very informative and helpful. Hopefully, there are no issues for my flight.

Are you allowed cameras, batteries etc in your carry on bag....? I heard you cant take batteries.

Hi Dplaysitcool, they have a security check when you transfer. I took all the electronics in carry on and no issues. I don't think you're supposed to take power banks in checked baggage, but I only did carry-on.

Giys im trying to china and the options they give me are just air china but the layover is only 3 hours. Just thinking about the check in would i risk my flight?

3 hours is OK if you're flying international > international, especially if it's one ticket

If the airline sells you the whole ticket then they will make sure you catch the connection or else they need to re-rout you there. 3 hours is enough though.

I flew with them these days. Frankfurt - Beijing- Jakarta- Bangkok-Beijin- Frankfurt. Old planes, seats are very used, cabin crew speaks barely English.
