Air drying tips for faster drying and retaining some volume! 🙌🏼
These are just some tips you can try - ofc you don't have to do all of them but I hope it helps! Took me around 3.5 hrs to dry completely. Keep in mind - I have short hair, looser curl pattern, fine-med texture, medium density, and medium-high porosity
➡️ Use lightweight or less products if you can. The less products I apply, the faster my hair dries. If you have thick consistency products you can try diluting it with water. If you need lightweight product reccs, check the link in my bio
➡️Use a microfiber towel or any cotton t-shirt and scrunch out the excess water (microplop) a couple minutes after styling - I'd say like 10 mins or so, to let products set for a bit. You can also just plop all together. This makes the most difference in the drying time for me. It dries way quicker since there's much less water
➡️You can also try root clipping for some root volume. I don't do it often, causes too much frizz on my roots than I'd like, mainly because of the clips I use lol use a better one - like those mini alligator clips
➡️Move your head side to side and upside down and avoid letting it stay in one place for a long time. Remember, however your hair dries is how it's going to stay, so if you want volume - better to keep it moving around
➡️Stay indoors if you can! This is a big one. I don't think people realize that going outside with wet hair causes major frizz. Wet hair + humidity outside, wind, etc. = Frizz
➡️Avoid touching it too much while it's still wet if you want to avoid more frizz
➡️Use a lightweight oil to scrunch out any gel cast
Now, should you air dry or diffuse? It really just depends on your own situation and what you want to achieve. I'll be post a diffusing tutorial tomorrow! 🙌🏼
I'm more of a diffusing gal but I like an effortless air drying routine sometimes. How often do you like to air dry? 🤔
