Flew on a BAF Carvair from Ostend to Southend back in 1975. The sound on take off was amazing! Great video.

@@thepianoman1010 didn't that club eventually move to Seawing and/or Southend Flying Club?

@@grahamlees4394No Graham, SLAC is essentially, still there but under a different name .. same old building etc. and I last went up from there in 2014 with an instructor as I was out of hours. I switched to the club from SLAC that was parallel to the taxiway at the railway end of the airport soon after I'd got my licence in 1975 at SLAC ...I think it was called Southend Flying Club ... sorry, not 100% but pretty sure. Looking at my logbook, some of the aircraft they had were, G-AYJS. G-AVLI, G-BBIL, G-BAVB ... mostly PA28's ... BAVB was a Cessna 172. Edit: Just added the name of the Flying club based within SLAC's old building ... It is Southend Flying Club ... so maybe they relocated to SLAC's old site?

@@thepianoman1010 G-BBIL was a PA28-140 which I first had a share in at Andrewsfield and later owned outright. Southend Flying Club was down a separate track on the same side as the old tower and close to the the threshold of 06. Seawing was along the Southend Road towards Rochford near the Ann Bolyn PH close to the Vulcan and the 24 taxiway.

@@grahamlees4394 Yes, IL was indeed a PA28, 140. I'm impressed that you actually owned it. I flew it only once ... on 13 Nov 1977 .. flight time 50mins and up to Walton and back with one passenger. Looking at my photo's from 2014, the Vulcan is adjacent to the railway end of the airport and runway 24 (at the time) but I don't recall the name of the club being "Seawing" but I'm not suggesting it wasn't. The club's Cert's of Exp' stamps in my logbook don't give the name of the club. Edit: Added date
