Air filters can sometimes create unwanted noise when your Home Comfort System turns on. Tightening tabs in the filter grill will help you eliminate that noise by securing your air filter firmly into place.

Purchased: August 2023 - still works GREAT!I kzfaq.infoUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

This is great. I was wondering why all of a sudden, I'd hear a 'slap" whenever my heat turned on. It was driving me crazy trying to figure out what it was. I solved the problem right before seeing this vid by putting foam pads on my current filter. In the 20 years that I have been replacing filters, this is the only one that was a bit too small. Will look for the tabs at the next filter change.

I know that noise upon start-up. It's sort of a cardboard creaking sound. My filter fits a little loose and I leave it that way. When the filter is new it won't lift up upon start-up so there's no sound coming from it. As the filter becomes dirty it starts lifting up, I hear that sound and know that I'm nearing the time to replace the filter.

Great vid. For me, it's not the filter making the noise, it's the metal grate. When the grate is open, my AC is insanely quiet. When I close the grate, it makes this loud whistling and "whoosh" sounds while running. What can I do here?

what about if the filter is whistling? All of sudden my filter started whistling in the middle of winter when running the heat. When I put a new filter in the noise was even louder.
@sierrallcairconditioninghe6089
@sierrallcairconditioninghe6089 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert. The higher quality filters unfortunately do tend to make more noise as the filter is tighter so the air is making the whistling noise going around the filter. We recommend installing filter cabinets which connect directly to your system so that the air is being filtered before it hits the vents in your ceiling.

@@sierrallcairconditioninghe6089 what is an air filter cabinet? how is that installed to the unit?
@tiffanyyoung7143
@tiffanyyoung7143 4 жыл бұрын
@@kzkmoore An air filtration cabinet is installed directly next to the forced air unit. Typically in between where existing return duct runs meet with the unit. This prevents the need for filters at each grille and instead allows for one filter per system as well as eliminates the demand for multiple filter replacements annually.

This hasn't helped in my situation.. The filter seem to be a little bit smaller than they used to be. There is a air sucking noise that is coming from around the edges, and the noise is prevalent as long as the heater is on... the filter is in there tight. It consistently starts making noise after 2-3 weeks of installing a new filter... it's like they are not made as well as they used to be. This has been going on for about 2 years for me... tried 3 different brands -- any ideas?

So I have a question, when my AC turn on or off my filter did this as well, that's how I got to this video. Thank you by the way. I use to use dryer sheets and fold them up to make up the gap to stop this noise but, those tabs are way easier. Anyways, what causes that to begin with? The fan in the condensing unit is outside and is just a heat exchanger basically for the heat from the freon to be removed then sent back to the handler in my garage. There must be another fan or blower somewhere in this large box in my garage. I opened it to check it out and see a teepee looking radiator that I cleaned off with some AC coil cleaner since I had it opened. But where would the other fan blower be at?? Is there a 3rd box in the attic because I can't find it anywhere so far. Just very interested and like learning new stuff. Thank you.
@sierrallcairconditioninghe6089
@sierrallcairconditioninghe6089 3 жыл бұрын
There is a blower motor that circulates the air inside the home for both heating and cooling through the ductwork. This blower motor is installed inside of a blower compartment inside the air handler or the furnace. The outside fan is just to reject the heat in cooling mode, that fan doesn’t produce any air flow inside the home.
@FF5754
@FF5754 3 жыл бұрын
@@sierrallcairconditioninghe6089 very cool. It's the same concept the heat exchangers at the plant. In my world it's sea water is the cooling media for the cooling water that is used to cool the plant equipment. No fans obviously because it's all water based but there are a few pumps. So the sea water is a once pass thru and leaves with the heat. The closed cooling water system is kinda like the coolant in a truck or cars radiator and is always used and stays onsite. I messed around alot today with my AC handler and learned alot from hands on and watching these videos. Far from an AC tech but maybe next year I can use 6 weeks vacation and see about an apprenticeship or any classes that are offered in my area. AC is always good to know in Florida lol. It's 88 outside now and a little humid.

This has been an ongoing problem for me for 13 years on one of my filters, as the ceiling opening is slightly smaller than the filter size. There are no tabs on the metal frame for adjustment though (there are tabs on my other size frames, so I do know what you are talking about). I have backed out the fastening screws (from the frame into the sheetrock) to give the filter something to hold against, but this is not enough. I've tried taping it up, wedging a sock in the small gap and nothing works. Do you have any other suggestions??
