I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

You know how with central air conditioning the air filter gets sucked up by the suction? This means the flow of air is going up. On the filter the arrow means direction of air flow. So since with central air the air flow is going up, you place the filter with the arrow pointing up as well toward the sky. So it's pretty simple....whichever direction the air is going is where the arrow should be pointing.

I'm guessing that your filter is slanted, not the furnace itself? The filter can be installed in a horizontal, vertical or slanted position. The main thing is the airflow arrow needs to point toward the furnace where the air will be heated or cooled. I hope I understood your question, but if not, please let me know and we'll give it another try. We want you to breathe the cleanest air possible!

thank God this was simple enough even I could understand it. You would be shocked to see how many cutesy type videos companies have made for someone who is only in need of information like YOU just gave. Too many people making youtube videos for companies try to "entertain" when the one watching is in a bind and just needs information. hi, my central air return vent makes a whistling noise when the filter is in with arrow pointing up. when i remove the filter or reverse it with arrow pointing down towards the floor the noise goes away and it sounds nice and quiet. can i leave it this way?

Air Flow always goes from the filter fabric side to the metal wire side, for filters that have wire bonded to each fabric pleat. The wire is partially for strength but more so to create an electrostatic charge which attracts dust.

I know this video has some age on it but I have a question and maybe someone will come here that can answer it. I understand the concept of the arrow on the filter facing toward the furnace/fan. What I don't understand is that I have purchased some filters where the arrow faces toward the reinforced side of the filter (with the wire screen or paper cris-cross). I have others where the arrow faces the opposite direction (away from the wire screen side and toward the unreinforced side). I thought the reinforcement was supposed to brace against the airflow and keep the filter element from being sucked into the fan. So what gives? Anyone have any idea?

What if you can only afford one without a arrow ,I mean really, if I had a arrow on my I would not have to do this....

Actually, you can place it either way, in or out. It really does not matter. If you think about it, take a look at the cheap filters that are made of fiberglass, they do not have mesh on either side and are flimsy AF. They are used in any direction. The only reason the arrow on most of the premium filters are stamped on them is for liability.

Thank you for posting this. I couldn't find any examples of a furnace like mine until I saw this one. I used common sense and had it right the whole time but since I don't know anything about this stuff I kept second guessing myself. All the other videos had one that instal vertically instead of horizontally like mine. Thanks again.
