What are your do's and dont's when cooking with an air fryer?
@Blitzkrieg1976 Жыл бұрын
I'm single and cook food for 1. I'm honestly impressed with the little guy I paid 20 dollars for. I'm a novice, but it does great for me! I'm 46 years old and have been using stoves and ovens my whole life. It's like a fun new toy for me. My favorite is a gas pilot or open flame, but where I live, we're stuck with electric lol

I'm in the same boat you are. I hate cooking w/ electric.

as a new air fryer cook, 1:30:50 maximum cooking tempature, no smoking, cook longer, 30+ minutes, also get 2 forks and tear apart meat, to expose inner layer meats like chicken thighs, low and slow

USDA temp recommendations are silly and overcook food. Take a look at a sous vide guide for a better idea.

HA HA Due to lack of kitchen space, I keep my air fryer in the BATHROOM !
@Thommadura17 күн бұрын
Actually I have my Air Fryer in my Laundry room and I plug it is where the washer is plugged in and cook on top of the washer. (I do the same with Sous Vide too). As a single person I wash clothes once a week so there is no problem.

I'm concerned about the widespread use of Teflon in air Fryers.
@Thommadura17 күн бұрын
Most air fryers do not go over 400 degrees and Teflon needs to get much hotter before it off gasses. Otherwise - Teflon is inert - cannot be digested and cannot hurt you if a fleck gets into your food from a scratch.

165°F = 73.8°C
@violetviolet8887 ай бұрын
165˚F is misleading to the general population and often results in overcooked poultry due to *carry over cooking* when the temp rises AFTER you pull it off the heat. The USDA provides guidelines for industry on food safety: CHICKEN SAFE TEMPERATURE CHART. Temperature/Time to achieve bacterial death (in lean white meat) 145°F (62.8°C) 9.8 minutes 146°F (63.3°C) 7.9 minutes 147°F (63.9°C) 6.3 minutes 148°F (64.4°C) 5 minutes 149°F (65°C) 3.9 minutes 150°F (65.6°C) 3 minutes 151°F (66.1°C) 2.2 minutes 152°F (66.7°C) 1.7 minutes 153°F (67.2°C) 1.3 minutes 154°F (67.8°C) 1 minute 155°F (68.3°C) 49.5 seconds 156°F (68.9°C) 39.2 seconds 157°F (69.4°C) 31 seconds 158°F (70°C) 24.5 seconds 159°F (70.6°C) 19.4 seconds 160°F (71.1°C) 15.3 seconds 161°F (71.7°C) 12.1 seconds 162°F (72.2°C) 9.6 seconds The USDA provides guidelines for industry on food safety and uses pasteurization tables to indicate how long it takes to kill enough bacteria at a given temperature.

My mom bought one of those fake ass Emeril 360 "Air Fryer" but it's just a convection oven. Because if I lower the temp and time like she said it would be so undercooked I would get sick almost every time.

@dinosowermethod: *ALL Air Fryers are Convection Ovens* : just ultra compact, more energy efficient and targeted, take up less space, are portable (I've brought them to dinners so I don't have to use appliance that may be busy anyway) and they can be moved while they are operating because the outside does not burn you.
