Welcome (back) to the SeeSaw!
Just a cheeky extra video today to show you how we made a roast chicken dinner in our Ninja Dual Zone air fryer. It was delicious and we've made a few more times since this first attempt. I've found that adding a little butter under the skin and some aromatics inside the chicken really steps it up a level - I've been using lemon, thyme and garlic.

Looks great Karen I was wondering how you got a chicken that size in it then realised you've got the newer version . I've had mine about 2 years I think and it's not as big as that. I use one of the other two for chicken I suppose j could get a small chicken in mine. Great machines aren't they, I use one of mine at least every day so much quicker too . And yes get a thermometer I couldn't live without mine.

Yes we have the 400 which is slightly bigger and the large chickens fit perfectly up to about 1.8K. I absolutely love it - not sure how we managed without it! Especially in this heat, not having to heat up the whole kitchen by turning on the oven is such a relief x

@@thefamilyseesaw2892 they are great Iove them all. Not much heat up in my bit of the world,I needed the heating on for an hour or two in the evenings. I heard its to be warm from tomorrow so we'll see, not a heat lover, but don't like heating on in July lol.

That sounds great to hear you have not poisoned anyone in 35 years very pleased to hear. But that is you problem, a thermometer is so important when you are showing videos and young chefs learning their skills of cooking. Keep smiling and keep your interesting videos coming, looking forward to the one. I did something different in the kitchen yesterday I made a dozen and half salmon and cod fish cakes for the freezer. Than you again Ronald Cooke

Do you get loafs of juice off the chicken as you would in a conventional oven?
@thefamilyseesaw2892
@thefamilyseesaw2892 11 ай бұрын
You do, yes, but it accumulates under the rack in the air fryer so the chicken doesn't sit in it. If you wanted it that way, you could cook it without the rack in.

How do you know what temperature to use and how long to cook please ?
@thefamilyseesaw2892
@thefamilyseesaw2892 Жыл бұрын
It does take a bit of experimenting - for most things I drop the recommended fan setting by 20 degrees C (so if the cooking guidance says 200 Fan I'd set the Air Fryer at 180) then I drop 20% of the recommended cooking time - so if it says 20 mins, I'd cook for 16 mins. However, first time I try cooking something new I'd start checking it about 5 mins before, and then regularly to find just the right timing. There are also a lot of really helpful facebook groups and Instagram/Tik Tok accounts that give lots of helpful information x

Can you give me the timing for small 1200kg chicken thanks
@thefamilyseesaw2892
@thefamilyseesaw2892 11 ай бұрын
Hi Lorraine - I would suggest about 45 mins, but could take a little longer or less time depending on density. Really worth investing in a meat thermometer so you can be reassured it's cooked through.

Glad it turned out well - we wouldn't cook a chicken any other way now for a roast - still use the crockpot if I want a fall apart chicken to use for something else like tacos, enchiladas, chicken pie etc.

Why do these videos always spoill chickens by coating the chicken in all sorts of stuff. Whats up with just old fashioned roast chicken. No bells or whistles..

Hi Liz - from our meals of the weeks videos you'll see we regularly make an "old fashioned roast chicken dinner" with just a bit of salt and pepper. However, as a family, we enjoy flavour and spice and as we are a mixed heritage family I try to keep us all happy :-) x

Hi Mike - yes, a lot depends on the weight of the chicken as they can vary a lot even when labelled as "large" or "medium" - this was an extra large one so about 1.8K from memory.
