Chicago 1’s are the holy grail of sneakers. I’m so happy to have the opportunity to cop. This will be my 1st Chicago 1 release. And it’s weird cause I been a sneakerhead since the mid 2000’s. It’s just I wasn’t into 1’s in the beginning. I thought they were plain & they resembled dunks. But as I grew up & gained more knowledge, my love for 1’s came. These are definitely sneaker of the year. Only sneakers that come close to competing against these are the Orange Lobster SB’s. But we don’t even know when they release. And that’s if they release. The reason why the shape looks like a cross between 1985 cut and the modern cut from what I’ve heard is that they said the shape of this one is supposed to mimic the 1994 ones because they still want to keep the 1985 cut for the AJ1 ‘85 line.

Mom and pop stores used to stock Jordans, used to do sales and yes, you could often get them for under $40 on sale. But what used to be a cool shoe for the streets became a fashion and culture status symbol, and quickly Jordan realised that mom and pop stores were not really projecting the image they wanted, nor could they offer the supply chain support network of major retailers. And over time, that's where we ended up: the level of hype may ebb and flow, but the Jordan 1 is still an aspirational shoe.

I just ordered these shoes. Now I am fairly new to sneaker collecting, but I know I love these. I like them over the 2015s because I feel like these are more realistic. Truly a good shoe 10/10

Chicago is a spectacular shoe. Part of me wants more than one pair so I can crease the second one up and give it some character. Creasing on the ones is super nice.

As Chris from WearTesters has correctly said in his video review of the AJ1 high neutral gray, a shoe cannot be considered shoe of the year if it is unattainable and readily accessible to the general public. If only bloodsucking resellers and the rich can afford to own a pair, and your average sneakerhead can't get to own one, then it's pointless. And aren't these still unreleased? Hmmmm. How does GOAT have them as instant ship?! And another thing, this is straight up insult by Nike trying to dedicate this release to mom & pop stores when they've put several of them out of business with their DTC push

Man i really hope resale ain’t too high on these but i must admit at first i wasn’t too convinced with the pictures, but after the review these are fire. For me the top 3 of the year are j1 Chicago, j2 j Balvin and bad bunny forums. I feel like these are the only releases of the year I really want, which is nice bc now I’m starting to get releases from the past that i didn’t get to buy, such as infrared 6s and j1 amm which are my most recent buys. But i also want the j2 amm j6 Travis and j11 bred, which are the main ones on my list

While I think the story behind it is nice and the box looks nice as well, I just wish Jordan brand would give us a clean retro of the Chicagos. I’ll still be trying to get a pair since I dont have a pair of Chicagos yet, but these Chicago variations are getting old. Spiderman Chicagos, Trophy Room collabs, there hasn’t been a clean Chicago retro since 2015. Cmon Jordan Brand, stop messing around. This is just like when they released the Breds in the 85 cut, but the they decided to reverse the toebox colors. Jordan Brand’s teasing at this point but hey, anything to milk more profits from customers right?

Sorry but I wouldn't trust GOAT or any reseller with buying an early pair of these shoes. Especially 2 pairs. I have a replica pair in-hand and it's damn near identical to Seth's pair.
