5:06 this is the wrong way to apply rooting powder You should be brushing the powder on the bark above the cut since THATS WHERE THE NEW ROOTS WILL BE COMING FROM smh they don’t grow out of the ringed barkless area lmao that’s the cut point where no or hardly any roots grow guy, I should know I’m a Botanist an have been one well over 30years

There's no way I could get an air layer to be successful in the timeframe you're talking about, must be a Florida perk 👍🏻

Depends on the plant too. I can get Wax Myrtles in about 4 months. Timing is important too. Early spring seems to be best for it.

Thanks for sharing Jerome! By the way, will this method work on Bougainvillas?

Yep. Pero Bougainvillas can be cut outright also. The leaves will die but it will grow new ones in a month

In my experience I had a tree that I defoliated prior to starting the air layer and it took so much longer. Come to find out the foliage up top actually helps the energy flow when you’re trying to establish roots in the air layer. Tell me if I’m wrong bonsai supply

I usually find the best result if I packed it with more moss about double or triple the size of the trunk or branch of the same plant that I'm air layering and it produces more roots too based from my personal experience.

Nice vid, definitely don't need the gloves though. Some of those take hundreds of years to decompose.

SpOoNzL Sphagnum moss can potentially harbor the fungi, Sporothrix schenckii, which can cause the chronic disease sporotrichosis, when spores enter the skin through abrasions, scratches, or small wounds. It is good practice to wear gloves when handling Sphagnum Moss.
