The beta version of Air Manager now works with Microsoft's newest Flight Simulator and we can enjoy a separate screen with our flight panel with all the flexibility Air Manager has offered in past simulators.

Thanks for the info on Air Manager Beta! I was using the demo, didn't realize I could use the whole program on FS 2020. I have the Knobster and waiting for my touch monitor to arrive. You were a big help! Thanks again.

Thanks for the video. I have a touch screen monitor and the Knobster. I use it with XP11via a remote PC separate from the one actually running the Sim (saving on FPS). Can this be done with MSFS 2020?

Yes, I used the open beta 4.0 which is in production now.

I'm trying to decide between this type of solution or using an iPad with remote flight - in particular, have you used that software? I'm thinking maybe since the GPU isn't taxed with running another monitor it will be less of a performance hit?

Great video!! I wonder if I could use the knob of the honeycomb beta with the air manager as you use it in the video? Or I should buy the same knobster you use?

I thought I answered this, but will answer again. I have not done it, nor tried to use the honeycomb beta throttle quadrant as a knobster. That interfaces with the sim already and does all the functions you assign it. That is a pretty expensive knobster replacement. Even on the knobster website, they have an article on how to build your own knobster, probably cheaper. Good luck and I hope you make or get one.

Hello Sir, thanks a lot for your sharing. First, You mentioned you are a flight sim coach, any site to view or join the course for flight sim. For Air Manager, should it be also fit with commercial jet set up with touchscreen. Thanks in advance for your reply

Hi James. As a flight sim coach, I have taught thousands of students through Udemy.com and Skillshare.com with my beginner, intermediate and advanced courses. I also teach a twitch group on my twitch.tv/ForderLearnToFly channel on Tuesday evenings. Really just sharing flight lessons with fellow flight simulator enthusiasts. Although a professional teacher with multiple certifications, I am not a CFI and can't take you up in a real plane. If I were, that would be my day job instead of IT training. On to your questions; for a commercial jet setup. there are templates already in Air Manager for almost any cockpit you can think of. If not, you can make your own by moving gauges around and adding more than one touchscreen, as you see in Jet aircraft. I have setup Air Manager for a G1000 suite with multiple touch screens and the GNS 530/430 combo. Works great. Many twitch followers and subscribers also use Air Manager and have great home cockpits to show for it. Every Thursday on my twitch channel we show home cockpit setups. As for learning to fly, I do one-on-one sessions with my students at an hourly rate using MSFS and a shared cockpit called YourControls but most of my students work away on their own first using my courses on Udemy and ask me for checkrides or solo endorsements.

Does it require a USB Type-C Display Output Port to get the "Touch" Function to work? My laptop only has a "Mini DisplayPort" and a "HDMI" Output for display output.
@ForderLearnToFly
@ForderLearnToFly 3 жыл бұрын
Any touch screen will need a USB cable to your computer. The Mini-Displayport is for output only from your laptop. It's all about the touch screen you are adding. In this demonstration, that separate touch screen has three cables. One for power, one for USB to the computer and one for HDMI in from the computer. By the way, Air Manager 4.0 is out of beta now and fully functional. (June 2021)

Is it possible to get rid of the 3D cockpit on the main monitor? This has re-sparked my interest in this sim.

Yes, you use your right-mouse-button. Move the view so the dashboard is hidden. Then just out the window.

Hello. I notice in your home cockpit you have a Honeycomb yoke and a TH1 throttle quadrant. Brings up my question: Are different manufactures devices compatible? For instance - Thrustmaster Boeing yoke and a Honeycomb throttle quadrant? Along with 15" touchscreen and Knobster. Platform is XBOX S and 27" display. Thanks in advance for your reply. Best, Jim '

Thanks for your comment Jim. Yes, different manufacturers products work together. Each input is assigned something in the sim. There are default profiles in MSFS for the Alpha yoke, Bravo Throttle or my TH1 throttle. But these are on a PC. For Xbox, none of these work. So far, the Thrustmaster throttle and stick and the TurtleBeach yoke/throttle. are the only ones that work on Xbox. Someone can comment here if they know if the knobster and touch screens work but my guess is no, because you have to run software to make them work and Xbox is a closed system.

Hi Howard, Thank you for your reply. For my MSFS, I'm in a holding pattern waiting for the peripheral mfgs to catch up with Xbox. I'm optimistic that most mfgs will provide Xbox compatible peripherals. Also, my Xbox is the Series X. My goal is to have a cockpit with main outside views, smaller touch screen monitor for PFD, and a side monitor (iPad) to display maps (Taxi, arrival and departure plates,) etc. My primary interest is airliners. So my question: Do you provide suggestions / instruction to achieve this type of setup? I would presume you would need a fee ($USD) to provide this type of assistance. I'm on a fixed income, so I can't afford to make any mistakes acquiring hardware / software solutions. Do you have an idea on the cost of this type of consulting service. Thank you in advance for your reply. Cheers, Jim

It's being so difficult to find a knobster. Where I can buy one.
@ForderLearnToFly
@ForderLearnToFly 3 жыл бұрын
The original Knobster is made by Siminnovations.com and many will say "it's too expensive for a single knob" but there is an outer and inner knob, push button and Arduino Nano board to interface with USB. If you can't find one to buy, you can make your own. Just google DIY knobster (it means do it yourself) or use this link: siminnovations.com/wiki/index.php?title=Knobster_DIY There are videos on it too. Good luck.

The abstract thought with simulating crap is you don't die..or kill hundreds of people if you fuck up. REAL Pilots carry this responsibility... you don't.
