These pilots look so chilled. Auckland harbour looks pretty nice too.

Can you see the Capt driving a aluminum beast around using a kiddie Airbus joystick? Me neither, this is a meat and potatoes guy, he puts his entire body around that yoke, he owns it, grips it like a jackhammer, a man's man.

Right about 25 seconds it was flying over my house. This prticular flight path brought it down from the north flyingNorth east before landing over Manukau City from the East.

It's so that passengers are alert on take off and landing in case there's an emergency,and won't hold up other passengers if their focused on something else.

I see the route was taken going over the harbour bridge then taking a right going over manakau city rather than landing from the sea side

When the crew's 'day' is over I think 8 hours they get a third pilot to share duties, so there will always be two in the flight deck. While one can go and rest. but all three must be in the flight deck for take off and landing.

he sure did use reverse thrust- hence the levers were up. They would never land a commercial flight without it, particularly on a NZ rwy

It's very difficult to gain perspective on the airplane's actual movement when the camera is constantly being jerked left, then right, then up, then down, then right, then more right, then left, then zoom out, then zoom in, then left, then right, zoom in, zoom out, zoom more out, then up, then down,,,,etc, etc., etc., for the entire 10 minutes. I'm not talking about turbulence.....the camera guy is moving the camera around non-stop. Just keep the fucking camera still. Please.

NIce landing Noisy front landing gear , can´t they have better shocks to reduce road feel ? Would that not be better(softer) for the plane ? both back and front

@TnDon11 жыл бұрын
I don't believe there is a "legal" requirement to have three present in to cockpit during takeoff and landing, but it might be some airline's policy. All models of the 777 are technically 2 person capable and on legs of 6 hours or less, no other crew member need be present or available. The standard shift is 6 hours, BTW.
@mark-ish6 жыл бұрын
Don Hern -- 6hrs flying time, ain't going to get you very far across the pacific, pal.

Curious why every time there is a cockpit video on a 777 there is a third flight crew person in the cockpit. It's supposed to be a two-man crew. Good video. The use of the wide angle lens was perfect.
@jakgats14113 жыл бұрын
number of reasons why. If its a long haul route they usually carry an extra pilot who is at controls for takeoff and rotated out during flight, or could be a check pilot assessing the aircrew. or a pilot passenger jumpseating a lift back to home base. all are quite common in long haul planes like the 777. you finally got an answer 8 years later.

Firm landing
@jakgats14113 жыл бұрын
it actually wasnt, you can hear the GWPS enunciator call out "5" just before touchown thats an indicator that the descent from flare to touchdown was smooth. most of the time the enunciator wont call out "5" and will go from "10" to touchdown without a "5" callout, which often leads to a firmer landing.

@bobbypaluga43468 жыл бұрын
+Bonde Bodyboarder Try and make sense lad, why would you scrap the safest aircraft in the sky, and the most reliable. The 400 has never had a loss of life due to any defects of manufacture or assembly and at 40 bucks a barrel for oil, no aircraft has lower seat mile costs.

They came from the west, flew up the harbour, did a wide right base leg to position themselves on about a 5-7 mile final. Not sure what R/W that is at ACK, but they only have one.
@RichardMaherNZ9 жыл бұрын
chris hood Its runway 23L. If they were to fly in the other direction it'd be 05R.
@maninthecab8 жыл бұрын
+Richard Maher With only one runway , it would be 23 or 05 , no L or R involved .
@RichardMaherNZ8 жыл бұрын
+maninthecab Actually you are mistaken. The current runway IS designated 23L/05R because we've used taxiway Alpha as a runway in the past and that had the designators 23R/05L. . If we get more technical, once the northern runway is complete it'll become 23R/05L and Alpha would be 23C/05C (if it ever gets reinstated as a runway - not likely). Listen to the ATC on other vids, see what runway designator they use when clearing a plane to land / takeoff.
@maninthecab8 жыл бұрын
+Richard Maher Point taken , if there is or was another runway then yes , designations Left , Right or Centre are needed .

+TidalWave when you use the reverse with low speed and autobreak set "optimum" you can use minimum reverse and you "unlock" reverse don't need to use all reverse just if you want to see when he use the unlock reverse check during landing and at 8:44 you can see different position , Unlock and idle
