An outdoor concert in Lviv was cut short as air raid sirens sounded - and soon afterwards the city was hit by missiles.

Lviv, in the west of Ukraine, is about 40 miles from the Polish border. It has so far been spared the fighting and devastation of cities closer to Russia. But smoke could be seen above the city after the missiles struck. The attack came as US President Joe Biden wrapped up a visit to Poland.

It's devastating watching everyone's face turn from joyous and enjoyment to mild panic and worry. I cannot imagine the immense physical and emotional pain Ukrainians across the globe are feeling right now as their home is being destroyed in front of their eyes.

I'm from Ukraine and I evacuated. Every time I hear some car beeping or some noise that is about half a second long, I isntantly start thinking about it being a siren. And I haven't experienced any actual attacks because I was lucky. I can't imagine how people who are in the middle of constant battle are feeling

I'm from Lviv.. Born there and lived all my life there... Three weeks ago I was forced to evacuate myself, left there everything I loved. It is weird and traumatizing feeling to see your city in this way. All the places you know, all the places you've been in. I hope at least Lviv survives. Muscovites don't have mercy even for historical memorials and animals, not even saying about literal kids. Shame.

my mother is 95years, survived the Hamburger Firestorm 1943 buried in a Bunker and 1945 she had to do Service in BDM in Air defence by recover bomb victims. Still today she remembers the sound of the Luftschutzsirene

@@DetectiveMagnumKane That depends on the individual psychology but overall the simple issue is that we are adrenaline based animals so either fight or flight, not hide snd this means waiting is extremely stressful. Like, the attack is horrible but when you wait 10, 20, 30 minutes, the fear eats you up ”did it already hit? Is it finally over again? Maybe it doesn’t hit close… There… No… The actual attacks are terrifying too don’t get me wrong but many soldiers will tell you that fighting is less stressful than waiting for a fight to begin.

Lviv is located west of Ukraine and has been free from Russian assault until now. It's a little morale boost to keep the people going at war times like this, they are not nuts.
