So guys, I didn't test every single aspect of air rolling in this vid. One thing I left out was "does air rolling give you more flip resets IN GENERAL"... as in, if you just let the ball hit you (rather than flipping into it) would you get more resets than if you werent air rolling... I didn't test that because there are just way too many variables involved, and I didnt think it interesting enough to include. Although I did (for the purposes of this vid) play a few matches where I literally held air roll the entire time, and I didn't get many resets at all.. so.. I think its relatively safe to say that one doesnt check out. Anyway.. expecting some flaming on this vid. Bring it lol

i only do air roll when im sure that i'll score a goal, because air rolling before doing a goal makes it more cooler lmao, but yeah i don't use it often since it hinders me when i want to do a purple shot

It seems like to me that when your balancing the ball without air rolling you have a slimmer point of contact, but when you are air rolling you have a wider point of contact.

This theory is so interesting Because people tend to gain more confidence because they see that their car is doing interesting movements. In reality, the car still moves the same. Thanks for clearing it up

Finally, somebody who prooved that Air Rolls are pointless...

What I notice air roll does is that it gives you more hit momentum, 50 priority, and sometimes pinching power all due to the fact that it is constantly moving your car’s hit box, which prevents other cars and objects from changing it’s direction. This might be the reason people feel better control of the ball in the air, because the ball isn’t moving their car’s hit box at all, they have full control over their car during the moments of contact.

I notice air rollers tend to be able to push the ball better at the beginning when two cars clash for the ball in the middle lol.

Its the illusory effect, in which when we hear the same false information again and again, we start believing it. Because of this, and the fact that it looks cool, we get motivated to make amazing plays.

I think it’s just useful to reorient yourself in midair, whether you passed the ball and need to turn around or to get a quick flip reset

Hear me out this is like the Scarab is the worst car situation. Even though Scarab and the most used car has the same hitbox, people don't use the Scarab because it just visually not pleasing. Same with air rolling, yeah it doesn't give you any advantages but if you don't air roll it just not visually pleasing

I just use it for how cool it looks.

1. It helps in the brodoff kickoff 2. Helps u reposition for an easier purple shot 3. You can stall reset

I have to add that I use it for kickoffs because when I don’t use it the ball rolls on to and over my car using it like a ramp. But with air roll I doesn’t.

I think it is useful because everyone who played rocket league knows that arials while air rolling looks much better and even gives you bigger control so we assume that probably its the same in this game too, and this mindset gives the players better control cause they expect to have better control over the ball.

I think it increases the angle of tolerance at which your car can air dribble without the wheels affecting the air dribble. This may sound like a joke but I am serious. Also I don’t know and I am dying to justify it.

One use of air roll that I found was for defending using a purple shot. When we boost up the side wall, then air roll to roll the car and then use purple shot to push the ball away from your post and back off towards your goal post to defend further.

I go into free play vollyball and try to control the car and keep it in the air. I feel more controlable with the ball when im doing an ariel move and airrolling but without it i last like 20secs so i think is gives u more control (spinning lets ur hitbox go in both ways and giving u a larger hitbox), in my opinion its helpful

I think it makes your hitbox bigger. Like if you look how thin the car is when you look at the car from the side it is small but when you spin and watch the ball from the top or bottom the hitbox is bigger.

As someone who has the world record air dribble time, I can confirm air roll feels more comfortable while air dribbling.

Hi @Mogz I’m GC and this is my opinion. First for flipping your car around press the button behind air roll and it flips it round accurately also I’m not sure but I think it’s faster aswell. Then with air roll I think that if you are touch player I recommend to not use air roll because it will limit your mechanics but if you feel more comfortable doing it which I used to when I was a lower rank then keep on using it and if your controller then use air roll if you want to get up in the air with the ball if you need to but do not hold it the whole game like some people do

I think the difference in feel it’s like trying to control the ball on a pencil vs control it on a rounded pencil. It’s just smoother. That’s how it feels to me

I think it does make a difference. For example. If u jump at the ball. Air roll for a certain amount of time. The back part of Your car will probably hit the ball. But if you jump at the ball in a pancake position the back part of your car won’t hit the ball. Instead you’ll get a reset. That just shows that air rolling still does something although it doesent give you lighter touches

I believe it's only benefit is during kickoffs. Like you showed use, we get a flip to use after flipping upside down into the ball. Striped has a video on kickoffs and this trick is a part of his favorite kickoff called "The Brody."

Air rolls are great for fake shooting or dribbling in front of enemies, makes it difficult for the enemy to predict our dribbling moves or shooting direction.. watch ItsAmirRL he did a lot in match..

In my opinion, though i havent tested my goals with or without air rolling, i headmakes ur car less harder to read because u cant see if the opponent is gonna do a purple shot, flip reset or continue air dribbling

Air roll is just good because it feels more comfortable and also gives me more confidence because i think am doing better because the cars rolls plus i dont really use flips resets much so i have no need to not use it

air roll helps to get good touch on ball like in an angle we can control give more touches where when you car upside down and touching ball in air you lose control

I think air roll does help with arial controll because the hitbox of the car is a rectangle there for if you air roll the surface of the front of your car is bigger :/

I feel more comfortable air dribbling when I'm rolling except with the Merk because flat cars are more similar to the real hitbox of the car when they are rolling.

It’s easier for me to get flip resets while air dribbling when I’m air rolling bc I don’t have to worry about which direction my car is facing, just the timing, which is easier in the heat of the moment most of the time

And most important thing air roll is good but don't do it at the time of when u r ready to do purple shot coz if often miss it! :(( and if the ball is in air on our car so doing air roll is best by placing ball some ahead of us and then shot a golden shot!

Air rolling does nothing for car control but it is 100% necessary and useful especially for stall reset and purple shots from different angles. If we didn't have air roll many mechanics would be impossible, so not in these scenarios, but yes air rolling is useful.

only thing air roll is useful for is intimidating your opponents after every goal hoping they get shook thinkin youre cracked cause they havent realised you can double tap the joystick yet lol

the only real advantage you get by air rolling is when you go for a stall. Thats was your roof is pointed towards the ball and press air roll and jump at the same time. This allows you to do crazy air dribbles.

Its for turning your car around to do purple shots. Its only useless to most players because most of the playerbase aren't good enough yet to be properly implementing different shot types.

Before season one, in alfa and pre season u could tap on the top right part of ur screen to roll ur car. For some reason they removed this function (prob because no one knew it/used it. anyways, the only difference is while shooting. No other point of air rolling

Air roll only purpose in my opinion is to rotate your self in hoops if your a defender to level out your car is it isnt upside down in case your teammate misses or hits the ball up or to flip your car and have the top of your car touch the ball. For some reason its so hard for you to be moved when defending a ball when the top of your car is touching it. I had to people fail to move the ball when i was like this and it was funny

Feels like it definitely helps with recoil after hitting the ball.

There is actually a way to speed flip using boost air roll and jump and the same time while holding boost and spamming jump on the floor.

From countless hours of testing I found out the following: 1- air roll makes u more controllable in the air and adjust easier near the ball(not a smaller turn radius) and do way better and longer air dribbles tho worse finishes 2- air roll helps u get more precise angled shots mainly a power shot that just bounced while no air roll can make it go up or down depending on how u jump severely making it way harder to score these shots 3-air roll severely weakens no flip shots and that can be a severe disadvantage 4-air roll can stop u from hitting a number of shots including purple shots, chipping the shot from the under of ur car during an air dribble, a lot of flicks and more 5- air can give u more angular blue shots(back to point 2 as it will mostly fall down to the goal) while no air roll gives u straight blue shots mostly(point 2 where it can go either straight above or under the goal 6-air roll makes 50s worse on your part and mainly air dribble saves Basicslly if u know when to use it and when not u will be severely put playing your opponent since u cam hit shots they don't expect u to be able to

When your car is in the wrong position for a flip reset then you use air roll. That’s it’s use. Also it makes you able to stall.

Mogz air rolling is only for beginners who started to learn air dribble because they don't have full control on the ball and it help you stay close to the ball unlike not air rolling it will just go further away or even further from you but for pro it just style because you already have full control

One important trick is that u can do stalls while air rolling.

It doesn’t just roll my car it activates unintentionally and screws me up when i try to do a purple shot

When air rolling it spins your hitbox around making it bigger hende the reason it feel more confortable

I think that air rolling help when free styling but most ppl won’t use it in a way that benefits them in any way

I don't use air roll because I thought it was useless cuz sideswipe is 2d and not 3d like rocket league I was right. However you can in theory use it to get a flip reset of the ball in the air and that's probably its only use

It’s easier for me to go for stall resets from airrolling, not arguing, just my way to do it in any position
