Tori no Uta, Last Regrets and Toki wo Kizamu Uta - all three songs combined in one single movement: The "Key anime piano medley."
My initial plan was to create the full version arrangements of "Tori no Uta", "Last Regrets" and "Toki wo Kizamu Uta", the opening songs from the Key Visual Arts anime series Air (TV), Kanon (2006) and Clannad After Story.
But arranging popular songs is a great challenge for me as well, because I have to fulfill the expectations of the listeners. How to describe it the best... Imagine you are a conductor. And one day, you have been asked to conduct Beethoven's 9th symphony. Just imagine the pressure. As an anime pianist, it was a great challenge to arrange these songs as accurate and emotionally powerful as possible.
I made good progress in the beginning and I quickly finished the draft for each of these three songs. However, after arranging the TV-size, I quickly ran out of ideas for the rest of the full song. I couldn't think of any good variations to make the arrangement more interesting and I started to copy paste many sections. My ideas just didn't worked out in the sheet and I was in a hopeless situation.
Finally, I dropped the three sheets and felt depressed for a whole month. I failed and I couldn't meet the expectations.
A month later, I was listening to my usual anime music playlist and I finally found a solution:
I just create a piano medley instead.
I immediately began to work on the medley sheet and repurposed the three abandoned TV-sized sheets. The TV size length has been extended a bit by reusing some motifs of the original song, and I created smooth transitions between each song for a better flow of music. The entire sheet underwent more than two hundred edits until every single note is polished.
I actually wanted to make piano arrangements for these three songs since the since the very beginning of my KZfaq Channel, because I love the Key Anime series. Along with My Soul, Your Beats! (Angel Beats! OP) - these were the anime songs I've always put on my to-do-list. And now, the piano arrangement I was longing for has finally been created.
This Key anime piano medley was probably one of the greatest challenges I have ever faced so far as an anime pianist on KZfaq. But with this weight lifted from my shoulders, I can finally move on again.

One last thing:
This time, I didn't record in the usual big room in the conservatory with the Steinway grand piano, but instead, I recorded in a smaller room with a fairly old, but very beautiful concert grand piano from a German piano brand called "Seiler". The grand piano has an exceptional "singing voice", perfectly suited for key songs.
